Michael Fassbender Compared Alicia Vikander To Lupita Nyong’o.

Alicia Vikander is on the September issue of Vanity Fair, talkin’ alllll about her costar and real-life lover Michael Fassbender. Even in the first paragraph of the cover story, the author makes it known that interview took place over Skype…because Vikander was visiting Fassbender in Australia! Ah, rich people love. You can read the full piece here, which is actually pretty interesting (she lived with Icona Pop!). Here are some highlights:

Her years spent in ballet: “My image of myself was not the best. Being in ballet school and being in leotards in front of a mirror I don’t know how many hours a day was quite tough.”

Living in a London flat with Icona Pop & Tove Lo. “It was the dirtiest bachelorette pad you’ve ever seen,” Vikander says. The four girls shared two beds and all their clothes, which they kept in a pile on the floor. She auditioned, unsuccessfully, for Snow White and the Huntsman and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She made 15 “self-tapes” for various American television pilots and got completely ignored. “I didn’t even get a ‘No,’ ” she says—her first taste of Hollywood.

A story from Fassbender: Vikander, Fassbender, and a handful of crew were going to actually live at the lighthouse for the next month during filming. Fassbender was reluctant, thinking, “Is that necessary?” But Vikander didn’t question it. “She doesn’t take anything for granted,” says Fassbender. “With a lot of these actresses coming out, there’s this bravery that you don’t see so much in male actors. . . . I noticed this as well with Lupita [Nyong’o] in 12 Years a Slave—this focus and understanding that there’s an opportunity given to you and you grab it.” Vikander’s determination to get Isabel right inspired Fassbender, an actor who hardly needs improvement, to up his game. “She doesn’t mind taking a character she’s playing to an ugly place. Her level of commitment made me focus and make sure I was as committed.”

Vikander on working with Fassbender: “He was very sweet at letting me in. . . . He was like, ‘Can you please give me a note? What do you think I should do?’ It was such a sweet thing to kind of let me in.” Even Fassbender, who’s abjectly reluctant to speak about his personal relationships, admits, “These things of course sort of spill through to what you’re doing.”

I think Fassbender’s comparison of Vikander to Lupita Nyong’o is particularly fascinating because there were rumors that the two also had an on-set romance. I guess bang Fassbender and his magic D will make you a star? Not that Lupita and Alicia both don’t deserve it- oh, they do. I just think it’s interesting- the incestuousness of Hollywood.

Lupita Nyong’o KILLS Her 2nd Vogue Cover!

Screen Shot 2015-09-17 at 9.11.15 AM

Lupita Nyong’o is the October Vogue cover girl, and man does she look amazing in all these GORGEOUS dresses. The star knows how to wear couture but more than that- she doesn’t let the couture wear her.  Here are some snaps from the shoot and some snippets from her interview:

On fashion in Kenya: “salons were a big feature in my life. We would go every two weeks to get our hair braided, washed, or treated. That’s where I read American, British, and a few African magazines. Then I would design my own clothes. In Kenya it’s much cheaper to get clothes made than to buy them. We would have everything run up by a tailor, or my aunt Kitty, who is very creative, would sew things for me.”

On her father’s political career/tragedy: “I was definitely exposed to some extreme situations. Tragedy is something that I have known and that I have tried to accept as part of life. But I don’t dwell on it. . . . OK! I need to powder my nose!”

On winning her Oscar: “In Africa there is a nationalism that comes with things like winning an Oscar. It’s traditional to be welcomed and celebrated. Praise songs, which are the highest honor in Kenya, were sung for me, and they included lines from my Oscar speech.”

Lupita Nyong’o Stolen Dress Returned; Pearls Were Fake?!

The 87th Annual Academy Awards in LA

The curious case of Lupita Nyong’o’s stolen Oscar dress got weirder this weekend!  The dress, which was taken from Lupita’s hotel room at The London West Hollywood, was returned!  The thief called TMZ this weekend and admitted to being the one who took the dress and gave them information on where to find it because he had returned it to the hotel!

The dress wasn’t exactly in one piece, either.  The reason he handed it over?  The pearls were fake!  Reports surfaced initially claiming the dress to be worth anywhere from $150,000 to $10 million, but that was before the thief had it checked out.  He took a few pearls to the garment district where he was told they were fake.  Calvin Klein told TMZ that they never claimed it to be made of real rare pearls.

Rumor has it the hotel hasn’t ruled out that it could’ve been a hotel employee who swiped the gown.  Sounds plausible since the guy so easily got in and out twice!

Stolen Lupita Nyong’o Pearl Dress Valued At $10 Million!

The 87th Annual Academy Awards in LA

Let’s hope Lupita Nyong’o had her stolen pearl Oscar dress insured!  In case you didn’t know, Lupita’s gorgeous white pearl dress was stolen from her hotel room on Tuesday while she was out.  Law enforcement initially valued the dress at $150,000 but pearl experts are now saying the rarity of the pearls used make it worth much, much more!  They estimate it could be worth anywhere from $1 million to $10 million!

“Knowing how rare natural pearls of this quality are, we estimate the value of the dress much higher for just the raw pearls alone, which may be why the dress became a target for theft.”

Sadly, they may not be able to capture the thief because TMZ reports the cameras at The London hotel were terrible quality and didn’t catch anything near the area of Lupita’s door.
