The Hills star Lo Bosworth and boyfriend Scott Hochstadt are calling it quits.

The couple started dating in 2009. “It happened Tuesday morning, although they’ve been talking about it for over a month now,” a friend of the couple tells Life & Style. “They’re in different places in their lives, and they just hit a crossroads in their relationship.” In addition, Scott might have had ulterior motives for dating the reality star. “I’m not sure if Scott was in the right relationship for the right reasons,” a friend of Lo’s tells Life & Style. “It didn’t hurt that Lo was famous and had famous friends. I don’t know if Scott loved Lo so much as he loved the fame. Things had been bad for a while now.”

Just this past summer, Lo was gushing over moving in with Scott. “I’m just excited,” she said recently. “He’s the guy, so I can’t really be happier than that!” Since the end of The Hills, Lo has focused on her website, The Lo Down, and working on her book of the same name, which will come out in January.

Lauren “Lo” Bosworth has starred on the smash MTV reality shows “Laguna Beach” and “The Hills,” which wrapped up its sixth season earlier this month. The book is about dating do’s and don’ts filled with real life stories from Lo herself!
