TMZ has confirmed that Lindsay Lohan checked into Promises rehab facility under the watchful eye of her lawyer.

TMZ spotted mega-lawyer Blair Berk driving Lohan to the facility on Monday. Sources tell TMZ this is “a serious medical treatment program,” not the in-and-out ruse used by other starlets in the recent past. We’re told Lohan will be a resident at the facility, possibly for 30 days, but her outpatient treatment will last much longer.

It would seem Lohan’s next movie project may be on the skids, at least temporarily. We were told shooting was expected to start the day after tomorrow, but that almost certainly will not happen.

Though she was cited for DUI Saturday morning, Lindsay Lohan hardly kept a low profile over the rest of the weekend.

On Sunday the actress, 20, hit a Memorial Day pool party for 944 magazine at Hollywood’s Roosevelt Hotel, where DJ pal Samantha Ronson was spinning. “She was in a great mood,” says a partygoer.

Later that morning, photo agency X17 snapped pictures of Lohan apparently asleep or passed out in the passenger seat of Ronson’s car, several “30 Days” sobriety pendants hanging from the rearview mirror.

According to the New York Post, Lohan had dropped her sunglasses and cigarettes on her way out of the hotel, then collapsed when she bent to pick them up. A bouncer had to lift her into the car.

The incident came just two days after the actress was arrested and cited for driving under the influence in Los Angeles after her Mercedes struck a curb and shrub on Sunset Boulevard around 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police later said they found a substance tentatively identified as “a usable amount of cocaine” in connection with the accident. Lohan was hospitalized for minor upper-chest injuries; her two passengers were not hurt.

The actress was charged with a misdemeanor, a police spokesperson said at a press conference, adding: “There is a potential for additional charges.” Her tentative arraignment date is Aug. 24.

Some friends are hoping that Lohan, who checked into rehab in January, will again seek help. “The police intervening … could be the best thing for her,” one source close to her tells PEOPLE. “I think she’ll have to do a real rehab this time, and not just a Hollywood rehab.”

Lohan’s rep did not return calls for comment.

I’ve been getting a lot of letters asking my thoughts on recent events, so here it goes…. I know a lot of people think karma is going around and yeah I guess it might be, but to me..this is far from karma, if anything people like Paris love this shit, walking out of a court house to be met by a bevy of paparzzi like princess diana…carrying the bible around…loves it! Karma will be the day she’s married and has kids and her husband goes and fucks a 22 yr old and knocks her up. I don’t find happiness in others when they are down, but I sure in hell don’t feel bad for people who play the victim constantly and are far from it. People who feel it’s their job to make people feel beneath them or take opportunities others would die for an shit on them and frankly make a mockery of. So as the penis posse goes down one by one and enters jail or rehab…I don’t really think anything of it…they just show me what I always knew and thought they were _________. ( you can fill in the blank)

With that being said and on a much more positive note, we finished filming on my new show “CROWNED”, it is set to air in JAN and I am so excited!! Like I said before I now KNOW it will become one of your favorite guilty pleasures!! It was so much fun to film and everyone on the set is amazing!

I know some of you also wanted to know about my mothers day, it was beautiful, I spent the day with my kids and went swimming with them, they made me the cutest cards from school and I felt proud and so lucky!! Sadly, Travis is out on the Fall Out Boy tour and couldn’t be here, he did however send me the most romantic bouquet of flowers and hidden in one of our rooms he had balloons and a gorgeous purse! He went above and beyond and I miss him alot!! Hopefully when the kids are done with school I can get out on tour with the kids and really have some fun!!

Lindsay Lohan is on her way back into rehab, In Touch can exclusively reveal. After a wild weekend that saw her arrested for DUI early Saturday morning - and out of it in a car just two days later - she’s seeking treatment.

She finally realizes it’s the right thing to do, a close friend of the 20-year-old actress tells In Touch exclusively. She is going willingly.

Lindsay is due to check into Promises in Malibu this afternoon (LA-time) In Touch has learned. That is the facility that Britney Spears entered after shaving her head.

The Georgia Rule star’s decision contrasts starkly from her behavior just last night at Teddy’s nightclub. Insiders say Lindsay was partying as hard as ever at a 944 Magazine party and kept insisting she didn’t care about the consequences of her arrest when cocaine was discovered in her wrecked Mercedes convertible.

She was later photographed seeming to be out of it in the front passenger seat of a car being driven by her friend, disc jockey Samantha Ronson.

This will be Lindsay’s second spell in rehab this year. She completed a 30-day course in the Wonderland rehab facility in Los Angeles on February 16.

Lindsay Lohan’s father, Michael Lohan, thinks his daughter needs to experience a little tough love - and so does her mom, his ex-wife, Dina Lohan.

In an interview with the New York Post, the former convicted felon insists that his 20-year-old daughter is a victim of her environment, and that her May 26 DUI charge is a a direct result of the company that she keeps.

“The people out there [in Hollywood] with her are in it for the money. They want to see what they can get,” says Lohan. “She needs to go [to rehab] and my ex-wife [Dina Lohan] should go with her.”

Lohan’s relationship with his daughter has been strained since his conviction in 2005 on DUI and assault charges.

“The writing was on the wall years ago,” insists Lohan. “She needs a faith-based program.”
