Lily Allen prefers to record in Los Angeles because she hates making her producer leave his family for England – and there are less distractions for her in Tinseltown.

The Smile singer recorded most of her new album – Stuck on the Naughty Step – during her most recent trip to Hollywood and admits she got a lot more done than she would have in her native London. And her producer got to spend time with his family.

She says, “I feel guilty bringing my producer Greg to England, away from his wife… The last trip (he made) wasn’t very productive. I’ve never been good at working in London – too many distractions. (There are) too many people to go out and have lunch with.”

But it wasn’t all work when Allen hit L.A. for work earlier this year – she saw a few movies and checked out Lil’ Wayne at the House of Blues. And for a few nights she stayed in the Chateau Marmont hotel suite where actor John Belushi died.

She quickly downgraded, however, because, “I couldn’t afford it!”

A visibly tipsy Lily Allen got into a profanity-laced verbal spat with Elton John onstage as the two hosted the GQ Men of the Year Awards in London Tuesday night.

As Allen introduced a segment as a “very special point in the evening,” according to the The Times of London, John questioned: “What, you are going to have another drink?”

In front of an audience that included Gordon Ramsay, producer Mark Ronson (brother of Samantha) and London mayor Boris Johnson, the 23-year-old pop star shot back, “F— off Elton, I’m 40 years younger than you. I have my whole life ahead of me.” To which the 61-year-old John replied, “I could still snort you under the table.”

Allen followed the exchange with a crude ad lib when 82-year-old Tony Bennett was presented with the night’s Inspiration Award. As John introduced Bennett, pointing out his age, Allen broke in, declaring: “I’ll still [have sex with] him.”

Lily Allen has no plans to quit using drugs, despite recently vowing to cut back on her partying ways.

The Smile singer claimed earlier this year she wanted to curb her intake of drugs and alcohol because she was “bored” of the London nightlife scene.

And despite admitting she’s not “a good person” when under the influence, she insists she has no plans to stop using illegal substances altogether.

She says, “I’m not gonna say I’m never gonna do drugs again. I just know I’m not a good person on drugs.”

Allen’s remark comes just days after she hit the headlines for punching a passer-by in a furious rage on a night out in London.

Lily Allen has reportedly delayed the release of her upcoming album in fear of a chart showdown with Katy Perry.

Perry is dominating the international charts with her track I Kissed A Girl – and her success has allegedly left Allen worried about her new LP Stuck On The Naughty Step.

The album was originally slated for release later this month but will now be out next year reports British newspaper The Sun.

Meanwhile it has emerged Perry’s boyfriend Travis McCoy once had a crush on chart rival Allen.

The Gym Class Heroes star has been dating Perry since June but just last year he admitted a crush on the Smile hitmaker.

He said, “Lily Allen. I met her before very briefly. She’s cute. Yeah. . . I’d like to see her again.”

Lily Allen denies deliberately seeking publicity by flashing a bare breast to photographers.

The Smile hitmaker was photographed showing her breast while out in London last week.

But Allen has dismissed claims her actions were aimed at attracting attention, insisting it was just an embarrassing accident.

She writes on her MySpace.com blog: “I wore a loose fitting T-shirt. It was very hot in London and it’s no secret I don’t like wearing bras. My boob fell out twice and people on the blogs are saying it was a publicity stunt. Can I just say, I have been keeping myself very much to myself recently. I’ve been gardening, decorating my new flat and looking after my grieving grandfather. If I wanted publicity, I’d be accepting invitations, not to mention money, for turning up to glamorous events.”

Lily Allen has parted ways with on/off boyfriend Ed Simons – announcing the split on a social networking website.

The Smile singer initially broke up with Chemical Brothers DJ Simons earlier this year, just weeks after she miscarried the couple’s baby.

They appeared to have rekindled their love in recent months, after they were spotted enjoying a series of dinner dates and attending U.K. music festival Glastonbury in June.

And while neither star has spoken publicly about their second go at the romance, they offered the strongest hint yet that they had reconciled by admitting to being in a relationship with each other on their Facebook.com profile pages in early July.

However, Britain’s The Sun newspaper is now reporting that Allen has reverted back to her single status, after updating her profile on Thursday morning.
