Bar Refaeli credits her six month split from on/off boyfriend Leonardo DiCaprio last year with saving their romance – because the time apart forced her to “grow up” and learn about herself.
The beauty has been romantically involved with DiCaprio since 2005 but they parted briefly last summer before reuniting again by the end of the year.
Refaeli admits she was devastated by the relationship breakdown and went through a “tough time” dealing with her emotions – but the time apart proved to be key to their chemistry when they eventually got back together.
The 24 year old tells Israel’s L’Isha magazine, “It was half a year for which I am very grateful. I needed it. I came to understand a lot of things about myself. I worked on myself (and) I grew up. I didn’t know what ‘alone’ was like. Today I know that a relationship can work only if you know you can be alone and you are not afraid. Today I’m not afraid of being alone.”
The couple recently dismissed reports it’s engaged to wed and the model insists she’s too young to settle down.
She adds, “I’m not thinking about getting married. I’m still young, not yet 25.”
But Refaeli is supportive of everything the Titanic hunk does – even though she rarely walks the red carpet at high profile events with him: “I am there for him and I am at all the events. I just don’t walk in hand-in-hand with him. I don’t see any reason. I don’t need to strike poses with him in front of the cameras.”
Mel Gibson and Bill Monahan, the screenwriter behind The Departed, are currently hammering away on what might be Gibson’s last film ever: a Viking epic starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
“I saw it in my mind back when I was teenager. Seriously, it’s the first movie I wanted to make. And I think it will be the last film I direct. It’s the thing I have been going toward, in a way, since I was young, and I think when it’s done I may be finished.”
Gibson cited the need for a Viking movie because “it’s something the audience hasn’t seen in a long time.” Over 50 years have passed since Kirk Douglas’sThe Vikings, and apparently The Thirteenth Warrior doesn’t count because, well, it starred Antonio Banderas.
People close to Gibson brushed off the suggestion that this film would be his last. He’s probably just taking a page from Brett Favre’s playbook to make sure the film is extra, extra epic. Viking epic.
In this week’s New York magazine, contributing editor Logan Hill spoke to Martin Scorsese about working with Leonardo DiCaprio:
Shutter Island, their fourth film together, is based on Dennis Lehane’s thriller. DiCaprio plays a tormented detective investigating a case in a mental institution. “This was a trip we all took, a journey to Wonderland, like Alice,” Scorsese says. “We didn’t know where we were going to wind up, scene by scene. We had to take it much further than anticipated, but I felt totally confident going down that road with Leo.” Some scenes were so tough that, once they were done, “I remember both of us looking at each other and being so thankful [the scene] was finished and we could get some sleep. We were just glad to get them over with.”
Leonardo DiCaprio is set to team up with Mel Gibson for a new movie about the Vikings.
The Titanic actor will star and Gibson will direct the upcoming epic, about the medieval Scandinavian warrior race.
The film, which is expected to begin shooting next year, comes from screenwriter William Monahan and producer Graham King, who previously teamed up on DiCaprio’s 2006 movie The Departed.
King tells Variety, “This will be an awe-inspiring story, created with some of the industry’s finest cinematic talent, and I am just over the moon to be making this film with Mel, Leo and Bill (Monahan).”
Leonardo DiCaprio has reunited with his supermodel ex-girlfriend Bar Refaeli, according to U.S. tabloid reports.
The pair ended their three-year on-off romance in June.
DiCaprio has since been linked with a string of single ladies, including British actress Sienna Miller, while Refaeli was most recently rumoured to be dating Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford.
But sources tell Us Weekly the former couple has grown close again, after the 24-year-old model reached out to her ex – and reportedly enjoyed a secret romantic break in the Bahamas together late last month.
An insider says, “She was really upset over the break-up and hasn’t stopped calling him.
“They aren’t full-on monogamous but are seeing each other again.”
Very little is known about Christopher Nolan’s (The Dark Knight) new science fiction thriller, Inception. You will find very brief descriptions online, and a short teaser trailer. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page – and one of my new favorites, Joseph-Gordon Levitt.
A contemporary science fiction tale set within the architecture of the human mind.
