Leighton Meester reveals that her mom, Connie, won’t be coming out with a tell-all memoir involving her Gossip Girl – star daughter.
“The only thing that I would like to clear up is that my mom is not writing a memoir,” Leighton said during the 15th-annual Kids for Kids Carnival on Sept. 20 in NYC. “My mom is a writer, but she’s not writing a memoir. She would never write a tell-all about me or my life, or even include me at all.”
And Leighton assured us that she and her mom have a great relationship. “She’s always there for me no matter what,” Leighton said. “I had a really good upbringing.”
As Blair Waldorf on “Gossip Girl,” Leighton Meester has perfected the art of playing an uptight Park Avenue teen queen. But Leighton’s talents lie beyond just making us love to hate her each week on the hit CW show.
As she told Access Hollywood at New York Fashion week, she is gearing up to record an album.
“I am yeah,” she said. “Technically, yeah I am. I mean, for real this time… I’ve always done [music], just now I am actually doing an album that I plan to release.”
While she has plenty of television experience thanks to “Gossip Girl” as well as guest parts on “Entourage,” “CSI: Miami” and “Shark,” Leighton told Access making an album provides an artistic variance she is enjoying sinking her teeth into.
“It’s so cool because it’s a completely different creative process,” Leighton said. “From beginning to end it’s yours and you make it… You can see the finished product. It’s sometimes hard when you’re acting to be like, ‘Oh I see the finished product right before my eyes.’ So it’s cool you’re there from start to finish when you are writing.”
In a life-imitating-art scenario, during her guest spots on “Entourage,” Leighton plays blonde preening pop star Justine Chapman, who often has her eye on star Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier).
But fans of Blair needn’t worry Leighton will leave the Upper East Side for the pop world. Leighton is thoroughly enchanted by “Gossip Girl.”
“There’s so much drama it’s really crazy,” she enthused of her show. “They’re just really taking it over the top, like juicy and scandalous because that’s ‘Gossip Girl.’ That’s our show.”
