The season premiere of The Hills, Monday night, was the highest rated episode of the series….ever.
With an average of 4.7 million viewers, the premiere was the most watched program across all of TV for viewers aged 12 to 34 and the highest rated cable telecast of 2008.
An additional 1.8 million streams of the show were delivered on Tuesday by MTV.com.

Lauren Conrad was on her way to NYC for the premiere of her new season of ‘The Hills.’
The reality star headed out on Easter Sunday but was in good spirits.

On a recent cover of tabloid rag Us Weekly, The Hills’ Lauren Conrad is featured next to the brazen headline, “How I Was Stabbed In The Back”… which would be intriguing, if that was actually how the young reality star felt.
Feeling taken advantage of, LC did what so many of her contemporaries do when faced with scandal — She wrote about it on her MySpace page.
“Hey! I just wanted to take a moment to clear something up,” begins the post. “I recently did an interview to talk about the show coming back on and what everyone had to look forward to. Unfortunately it was turned into yet another ‘poor me’ story.”
The 22-year-old MTV star continued, “The article itself is a nice one but it follows headlines that, in no way, represent my words or feelings. I do not feel betrayed by Audrina or Brody. I love them both and said nothing to contradict this. I understand that headlines sell magazines, but I value my friendships above magazine sales any day.”
For those of you who want to see the drama for yourselves, the new season of the hit reality show starts Monday on MTV. And Lauren herself had this to say about what to expect: “On a more positive note, I got to see some of the first episode yesterday and it looks amazing. I’m sooooooo excited for everyone to see Paris. Best wishes and I hope everyone tunes in Monday.”

The key to Lauren Conrad’s heart?
Be a bad boy!
“Why don’t you like sweet guys?” Ryan Seacrest asked the Hills star on his show this morning.
“They’re not as fun!” Conrad, 22, admitted. Pal Lauren “Lo” Bosworth agreed, noting, “Sweet boys can be, like, filler.”
Conrad says she’s “easily bored” and dating is all “about the chase.”
“You want the game to be played,” Conrad, 22, says. “You don’t want to have a great time and him to call you right after!”
“It’s weak to text,” Conrad adds.
Seacrest, who said Conrad is “tragic in [the dating] department,” asked, “What’s with you and falling for these guys?”
Conrad replied, “I have no idea!”
The Hills returns with 10 bonus episodes beginning March 24.

For Lauren Conrad, betrayal has been a fact of life.
“I want to say I can always trust my good friends that I’ve had forever, but at the same time, some of my oldest friends have betrayed me,” the Hills star reveals in the latest issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands now.
For the first time, Conrad opens up to Us in an exclusive interview about how ex Brody Jenner went public with a new girlfriend just days after she left for Paris while best friend Audrina Patridge buried the hatchet with Conrad’s ex-BFF, Heidi Montag.
“At this point, I have to question every person that wants to have a relationship with me, whether it’s a friendship or a romantic relationship,” she tells Us.
The latest betrayals have been especially difficult for Conrad, who battled sex-tape rumors allegedly spread by Montag and caught one-time beau Jason Wahler in a liplock with another girl.
“Audrina has to remind me that she’s not someone who’s going to betray me,” Conrad, 22, says pointedly.
As for Jenner’s rebound, she says, “When you have that type of thing, you always have to question, ‘Why wasn’t I good enough?’”
“It’s disappointing to have to question relationships,” she adds.
