Lauren Conrad and Victoria Beckham now have something to bond over — they were both stripped from the sales floor of Hollywood’s hottest boutique.

Earlier this year, Kitson owner Fraser Ross announced that he was dropping Vic’s dVb style collection due to lackluster sales and her refusal to make a promotional appearance. Now Conrad’s collection has suffered a similar fate with the recent announcement that her lack of involvement has led to a lack of sales.

“When the collection first came out it did really well because of all the hype surrounding it,” a Kitson rep has said. “But her people were never able to set a date for her to come to the store and as a result it didn’t sell.”

However, a rep for “The Hills” hottie said that LC’s collection has exceeded expectations and is in more than 500 stores, including Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Planet Blue and Fred Segal. Her peeps also shot down whispers that Conrad isn’t exactly the creative genius behind the brand that she claims to be.

“Lauren designs the line from start to finish, doing everything from sketching to fabric selection to fitting the garments,” a rep said.

But a few key fashion insiders have said that LC is more the “celebrity face” behind her label and that her Creative Director Sherry Wood (the designer for former fashion label Tart) is pretty much responsible for all those chic girly garments.

Apparently, the majority of celebs with a fashion line have such crazy schedules that they do a bit of the work and front the collection, and Conrad is “no different.”

LC was also reportedly heard telling pals at a Hollywood club recently that she “can’t even draw a sketch” after being asked for some advice from an aspiring fashion designer.

But another insider in Conrad’s clothing camp was quick to tell Pop Tarts that Lauren is absolutely the designer and that she and Wood work alongside each other and share the process 50/50. This insider says that Conrad is often working out of the mart in downtown Los Angeles, where the clothes are conceived and manufactured.

“She generally stays for an hour or so when she comes,” a fellow employee in the mart said.

L.A. boutique Kitson just dropped Lauren Conrad’s line. How surprising, right? “Sales were lackluster,” Kitson owner Fraser Ross told us. “Initially it was great.” Ross tried to get Conrad to do a personal appearance in the store but said her people couldn’t figure out a date. “They need to realize it’s no different than selling your album, your TV shows, your movies. You have to keep promoting it.”

Ross also confirmed the store will not carry Victoria Beckham’s dVb menswear line because of dwindling demand. So although yesterday a dVb rep sent us a statement that read, “The dVb men’s collection is on target to launch in stores for holiday 2008 as scheduled,” they won’t launch in Kitson. And when we called the rep back today to find out what stores the line would land in, she was unsure. She nervously said the line is being shopped around to retailers right now. That means it’s unclear which stores will wind up buying it and selling it. That also means it’s possible no stores will buy it at all.

TMZ just reported, “dVb is stripping any mention of Victoria off the [men's] jeans actually to help sales.” But the dVb rep asserts the line will still be called “dVb by Victoria Beckham,” remaining unchanged. Huh. It all smells a bit fishy, no?

It seems the house of dVb is spending a lot of time these days trying to bury negative press. It’s a shame because it sounds like they could use that extra time and man power to get these pants on a sales shelf somewhere.

It’s amazing what a little bit of promotion could’ve done, huh? It’s a shame that she put all of kinds of work into her clothing line and lets it die like that. Maybe she’ll convince them to restock if she makes an appearance?

Audrina Patridge has laughed off online reports the police were called to her apartment after a screaming match with co-star and housemate Lauren Conrad.

Patridge was allegedly preparing to move out of their shared flat, which features in the hit reality show, when a bitter argument broke out between the two beauties, according to gossip blogs.

But Patridge, who has previously denied having a turbulent real-life relationship with Conrad, insists the rumours are all untrue – because she wasn’t even at home the day the fight reportedly broke out.

She tells Usweekly.com, “I wasn’t even there today! I have been gone all day. I still haven’t even been home. There are rumours all the time. I just laugh at it!”
