This year was definitely Kristin Wiig’s breakout year. With the success of her continued run on ‘Saturday Night Live’, this year she also starred in and co-wrote the highest earning female comedy of all time, ‘Bridesmaids’.
While ‘Bridesmaids’ was about women, it certainly appealed to both men and women alike. So it’s no surprise that GQ named Wiig ‘Bro of the Year’. Jon Hamm, her handsome ‘Bridesmaids’ costar, as well as her husband in ‘Friends with Kids’, wrote up the award’s dedication.
“For a lot of comics, there’s a persona they’re not comfortable revealing unless they’re performing,” Hamm writes. “Kristen is incredibly shy; she has her hoodie pulled up and her sleeves pulled over her hands. But this is a woman who wore coconuts on her tits on SNL; she can go to the craziest, most grotesque places on the planet in character.”
In the dedication Jon talks about his interesting sex scene with Kristen in ‘Bridesmaids’:
“Bounding around in a flesh-colored thong, trying not to sweat all over Kristen while a hundred crew members are literally like, ‘Can we get this done, please?’–our embarrassment coupled with everyone else’s exhaustion lent that scene a particularly awkward sensibility.”
In my opinion, Kristen’s perfect for this award! Love her!
I’ve had several of you say that this movie doesn’t look funny (I disagree, I think it looks hilarious). Watch this new red-band trailer, and see if you still think so!
This trailer comes complete with a sneak peek at a Jon Hamm (Mad Men) sex scene!
‘Bridesmaids’ is the new movie from director Paul Feig and producer Judd Apatow, the men behind such comedy sensations as ‘Knocked Up’ and TV’s ‘Freaks and Geeks.’
The movie stars Kristen Wiig as Annie, a maid of honor whose life unravels as she leads her best friend, Lillian (Maya Rudolph), and a group of colorful bridesmaids (Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper) on a wild ride down the road to matrimony.
I cannot wait! I bet this is going to be hilarious!! This movie is Judd Apatow’s first movie with mostly women!
Cynthia Nixon’s character Miranda flashes back to the 80′s on the Sex and the City 2 set in NYC. Is it just me, or does she look like Kristen Wiig from SNL?! (Love her!)
