Kirsten Dunst is keen to turn her back on Hollywood and call New York home – because life is much easier for celebrities in the Big Apple.

The Spider-Man star currently lives in Los Angeles but is considering selling her three-bedroom home and leaving Tinseltown for good.

Dunst, who recently spent time in rehab for an undisclosed issue, owns an apartment in New York’s fashionable TriBeCa district, and now she’s planning to renovate the property, so it can become her base.

She tells Harper’s Bazaar magazine, “I’m very hands-on. I’m not someone who hires someone to do their houses for them.”

But Dunst admits she will halt her plans if she sees her personal life splashed all over the New York papers.

She adds, “I’m not going to go there if what I do is written about. I’m very aware. I’m like an eagle eye. I’m not free as a bird (when I’m there), but I love to dance. And I literally have gone up to people and said, ‘Did you just take my picture?’ I have to protect myself.”

Since splitting with Drew Barrymore in July, Justin Long has been spending time with Kirsten Dunst — and it’s more than just a rebound fling.

“They’ve been dating for more than a month. They started hanging out after meeting at the Bowery Hotel,” an insider tells In Touch. It’s getting so serious that Kirsten’s already buying bling for him. On August 26, Kirsten bought Justin, 30, a Chrome Hearts sterling silver dog tag accented with diamonds at a West Hollywood boutique. “This would look great on Justin,” Kirsten was overheard telling a pal when she spotted the $1,150 necklace. The insider says, “It was obvious she liked shopping for him!”

“Justin has been spending a lot of time at Kirsten’s New York apartment,” the insider reveals.

Kirsten Dunst says rumors she is romancing Justin Long “are the funniest thing on planet Earth.”

“I don’t know him from Adam,” she says in the October issue of Harper’s Bazaar, per USA Today.

The two have been photographed repeatedly over the summer. On August 29, Us Weekly reports, he invited her to his $2 million L.A. home. After a sleepover, they hit the Joe Purdy show at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach, Calif., and lunched a day later at the Chateau Marmont, where Long, 30, got them a room.

Still, Dunst, 26, insists, “I met him once and he and his friend were kind enough to walk me home. I’ve never seen him since.”

She adds that she is still looking for The One.

“I can’t wait to have kids one day,” she says. “I want to have kids and a farm with lots of animals on a lake.”

The actress also says she is doing “great” after seeking treatment for depression at Utah’s Cirque Lodge earlier this year.

Though she wouldn’t get into too much detail (it’ll be “blogged about for the rest of my life,” she insists), she offers insight into how she ended up there.

“When you spend your entire life as a child actress, being told where to go and where to stand, you’re performing constantly for people,” she says. “It definitely breeds the kind of person who’s dependent on other people’s approval.

“If I’d trusted myself and listened to myself all the times that I ignored myself, I would have been fine,” Dunst says. “But everyone has to learn their lesson, and now I’ve got it.”

The guy accused of stealing a bunch of stuff from Kirsten Dunst is paying for it in spades.

Jarrod Beinerman, 33, was sentenced to four and a half years in jail after pleading guilty to attempted burglary in connection with the theft of a $13,000 Balenciaga bag, an iPod and various other goodies from Dunst’s suite last year at the Soho Grand Hotel in Manhattan.

Pleading to the lesser charge allowed Beinerman to avoid more serious counts of burglary and grand larceny. While not copping to any thievery, the offender “admitted being in the hotel” on Aug. 9, 2007, when the incident took place, defense attorney Mitchell Elman told the New York Daily News.

A spokeswoman for the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office told E! News at the time that security cameras caught two men leaving the hotel’s penthouse, where Dunst was staying while in town to film scenes from the comedy How to Lose Friends & Alienate People.

The Brooklyn-based Beinerman, who already had a lengthy rap sheet and had served three years in prison for his role in a cocaine ring, was arrested shortly afterward during a court hearing on unrelated charges. His accomplice has not been identified.

Kirsten Dunst banned a writer from the set of her new movie after he allegedly criticized her acting ability.

British novelist Toby Young wrote the book on which the actress’s new film – How to Lose Friends & Alienate People – is based, and visited the set on several occasions.

And on his second visit, Young made comments regarding Dunst’s performance to a producer – and it led to the actress asking movie bosses to bar him from the studio.

Young says, “She overheard me giving the producer a ‘note’ on her performance in a particular scene. At the time, I didn’t think of it as a criticism, more as a helpful bit of advice, and the producer took it in that spirit. But Kirsten overheard this exchange and interpreted it as a complaint about her acting ability. It was after this, apparently, that she took Bob (Weide, the director) to one side and asked if I could be kept at arm’s length in future. Bob carried out this edict with a good deal of tact. I didn’t realize it, but this was, in effect, Bob carrying out Kirsten’s instructions.”
