Kevin Federline’s lawyer says that with the help of father Jamie Spears, Britney Spears is heading in the right direction. But he urged restraint in saying the pop star is already fully recovered.
“Jamie is doing a really good job,” Mark Vincent Kaplan tells People. “There was a situation and that seems to be stabilized. Does that mean she’s cured? Of course not.”
Kaplan has noticed that the Spears’s negative press has diminished noticeably, and that her successes – from her appearance on How I Met Your Mother to reports Tuesday that she is working again with former manager Larry Rudolph – are making news right now.
He calls Jamie Spears’ steps to improve Britney’s well-being and diffuse her once tumultuous lifestyle “smart,” adding that, “Obviously before Jamie, it wasn’t a question of what was going to happen – it was a question of when.”
A healthy, happy Spears is something that Federline has always yearned for, says Kaplan. As for his own professional interest in the Spears case, which is no longer dominating Los Angeles’s family court system? Says Kaplan: “I look forward to the time when I can be bored.”

Kevin Federline has vowed that he will always love and be there for Britney Spears, even though they’re not together anymore. He says that he will “always love the mothers of my children”, referring also to ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson, who he dumped while pregnant for the poptard.
He said, “I will always love the mothers of my children, and I will always be there for both of them. I believe that any good energy I put out there brings more good energy into my own life. The relationships with my kids and family will last my whole life and are the most important to me.”
And Federline is determined that his children with Spears will grow up in a happy, stable environment.
He says, “Their needs define my schedule every day. It is so very important to me that my children will always know and never question, that no matter what happens, they have a mommy and daddy who love them very much.”
Is he trying too hard to look like superdad?

Kevin Federline partied in his birthday suit but ended up with cake on his face as he celebrated turning 30 in Las Vegas.
Britney Spears’ ex got all dressed up for the bash at Pure nightclub. But he wasn’t looking too smart when a pal smeared a piece of his huge birthday cake all over his face. It didn’t seem to spoil K-Fed’s big night though as he laughed and joked with guests and posed for the cameras.
The former backing dancer’s guestlist included his parents, brother and friends. Even his ex Shar Jackson – who he dumped while she was pregnant for Britney – was invited.

Sources say that dad Jamie has been trying to get Kevin Federline to reunite with Britney Spears and assume some control over her affairs.
“Jamie is tired, and he’d like Kevin to be involved with Britney’s mental care,” an insider told the National Enquirer magazine. “Jamie also believes Britney would do much better seeing her kids more often – and she’d be more open to seeking treatment voluntarily if she had the boys in her life.”
K-Fed is having none of it, after saying that he is not in love with Britney anymore and he can’t get over the fact that she slept with some of his friends as well as other people he knows in the music business.
I guess there’s some things that money just can’t fix.

Britney Spears has been ordered to pay $375,000 of Kevin Federline’s legal bills, according to court documents released Monday.
Los Angeles Court Commissioner Scott Gordon called the legal billing “reasonable,” in large part because “the actions of [Spears] caused the great majority of litigation.”
Last week, the pop star’s lawyer, Stacy Phillips, complained that Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, had over-charged Spears, and asked that Federline be ordered to contribute to his own legal bills in the former couple’s ongoing custody case.
Citing Federline’s tip of $2,000 on a recent $365 dining tab, Phillips contended that Federline could afford to help pay “for the diligent work being done on his behalf.” She also criticized Kaplan for raising his hourly fee.
Family courts have the power to order one party to pay for the other’s fees, based on income and needs.
Federline had previously declared in court papers made public last year that he had no steady income, while Spears takes in more than $700,000 a month.

A lawyer for Britney Spears argued in L.A. court Monday that the singer’s ex Kevin Federline should pay his own legal fees.
The court had previously ruled that Spears, 27, has to pay Federline’s counsel Mark Vincent Kaplan “reasonable” attorney’s fees.
But her attorney Stacy Phillips told a Los Angeles court commissioner that the singer currently pays Kaplan $500,000 when he is only entitled to $150,000 to $175,000.
Federline, 29, Phillips said, should foot the bill. She mentioned how the rapper once tipped $2,000 on a $365 bill while out dining.
“If he is willing to tip someone $2,000, then he should be willing to pay the lawyer bills,” Phillips said. “Mr. Federline needs to take responsibility for the very diligent work they do on his behalf.”
Kaplan, meanwhile, argued that he is worth the price due to the complicated nature of the custody case.
“Our fees for the experience and expertise for the practice level are far under market for the package you get when you hire me,” he said. “This is not a simple custody case.”
