Britney’s final custody hearing is delayed

Britney Spears

Britney Spears, her mother Lynne Spears and legal friend Blair Berk were expected to attend the final hearing in Brit’s custody case on Tuesday before her five-day trial begins on August 25. But now OK! has confirmed that the hearing has been delayed until Friday.

The reason? Kevin Federline’s attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, says he needs the time to prepare.

“It was my idea to delay it for a day,” Kaplan told OK! on Monday. “But the next available day for Wasser and I was Friday, simple as that. I think I will know better what is needed to go to trial then, than I do now.”

Kaplan says the delay has nothing to do with any kind of settlement.

“It’s more for technical reasons in a complicated case like this,” he told OK!. The door is open if [Laura] Wasser and Blair Berk want to walk through it, but there is no delay because of an impending settlement.”

A previous mediation to settle Brit’s custody case failed, leaving K-Fed’s option for sole legal and physical custody of their two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, on the table.

Court insiders have speculated that the singer could request further mediation to avoid going to trial, and in the meantime may ask for more visitation.

Meanwhile, Kevin and his lawyers are moving full steam ahead in order to win permanent full custody.

“I’m preparing to go to trial until I don’t have a reason to go to trial,” Kaplan told OK! on Monday.

Kevin Federline parties away the weekend in Miami

Kevin Federline

He may have partied till nearly dawn, but parenting was on the mind of Kevin Federline Friday night into Saturday morning – capping a week in which he and ex Britney Spears seem destined for a custody showdown.

“Kevin was in a great mood and even talked about a new song he is working on, called ‘Daddy’s Home,’ ” says a source at Mansion on South Beach – where K-Fed (as host) and his party of 10 and a security guard stayed until 4 a.m. Saturday, following a late dinner at Miami’s Michy’s, an intimate and upscale restaurant.

“He has put a lot of time and effort into writing and rehearsing it, but says it is not quite ready yet,” the source tells People.

At Mansion, Federline, dressed in an over-sized, blue, long-sleeved, oxford shirt and jeans, spent much of the night chatting with the club’s host Lyndon Smith, another single dad. “We talked about our kids and parenting and what that’s all about,” Smith says.

Although multiple bottles of champagne were sent to Federline, he preferred to drink water. Not that the bubbly went to waste – he sprayed an entire bottle on the dancing crowd.

Scrubs star Zach Braff and Donald Faison, with Cacee Cobb, Jessica Simpson’s former assistant, came late and hung with Federline while he danced with his group of friends, including one guy from his hometown.

Good Dance Moves
“Kevin is a great dancer with some very complicated moves,” says another source at Mansion. “He wasn’t with any one girl in particular. He was friendly and nice to everyone and in a wonderful mood.”

Federline, 30, had been seen in the late afternoon checking into the Gansevoort Hotel on South Beach, where he asked staffers to call him “Kevin” and even signed autographs.

“Kevin seemed happy and was very gracious,” says an eyewitness. “He stopped and took photos with anyone who asked.”

Saturday brought more high-living for K-Fed and his entourage, who spent the day on a private luxury yacht with Chris Jones of the Opium Group and Mansion host Smith, who brought Federline to Miami Beach after he had recently appeared as “Father of the Year” at the Opium Group’s club Prive in Las Vegas.

“We hung on the boat all day and late into the night,” a source at sea tells People. “We just relaxed, fished, ate, swam and had a great time.”

Much later on, the group went to SET, an old Hollywood-themed club on Lincoln Rd. “Kevin said he had a great boy’s weekend, but was happy that in a few hours he would be back with his kids,” said a source.

KFed’s multi million dollar deal?

wenn1919670.jpg

Kevin Federline, a former struggling backup dancer, is now being offered a seven-figure endorsement job!

Britney Spears’ ex-husband has been approached to be the new face of Christopher Brian Collection. “We feel Kevin would be a great model for the line,” Chris Stokes, a music producer who co-owns the denim brand says.

Nothing has been set in stone regarding the modeling gig because the 30-year-old father of four is busy with other projects. “Kevin is also working with Chris on his music and movie career,” an insider says.

After being named Father of the Year by Privé nightclub in Las Vegas on June 13, K-Fed may soon give Britney a run for her money. “He is in everyone’s good graces right now, so he feels like it’s the time for his career to shine,” the insider says.

Elliot Mintz, a rep for the actor/singer, says, “Kevin is getting back to work on his music activities.”

Britney Spears & Kevin Federline avoid each other during their trips to Vegas

Britney Spears

Divorced couple Britney Spears and Kevin Federline were both in Las Vegas this week but held separate celebrations on their night out.

The pair, who recently finalized their separation, partied at different venues and did not make plans to meet. Federline, 30, made his way to two hotspots Strip House and Prive Las Vegas before heading home at 03:00 local time, whereas Spears relaxed at the Cinevegas party at Palms Place.

However, the weekend turned out to be a special one for rapper Federline as he picked up an award for his parenting skills. He received the Father of the Year award during a quiet ceremony that was held in the venue’s back kitchen.

The professional dancer had asked the venue to present him with the prize in private so as to avoid the glare of the photographers. Meanwhile, Spears spent time with her father Jamie and his business associates in a relaxed weekend by the pool and over dinner.

Spears and Federline filed for divorce after two years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.

The couple were then engaged in a bitter battle for custody of their two children, a time during which Spears’ health went from bad to worse with her having to be hospitalized and needing to attend parenting sessions.

Las Vegas club names Kevin Federline Father of the Year

Kevin Federline

Kevin Federline is the new father of the year!

Just in time for Father’s Day, Prive Las Vegas will award the proud papa of four his “father of the year” status at a party he is slated to host there June 13.

Sources tell People he will be awarded the title during a presentation at the club.

The unofficial honor is Federline’s second such recognition in a relatively short time. Last November, Details magazine also anointed him father of the year – an honor he shared with onetime Anna Nicole Smith boyfriend Larry Birkhead.

K-Fed getting a bad rap over his legal bills?

Kevin Federline

Whether it was a $1,100 tip at an L.A. restaurant or a $2,000 tip at a Vegas strip club, Kevin Federline’s 2007 spending – detailed in recently released financial documents – has critics buzzing over his lavish lifestyle. But his lawyer says they need to look at the bigger picture before passing judgment.

“He’s totally getting a bad rap here,” according to Federline attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, who says the “court of public opinion” is focusing on a few outstanding expenditures. “It seems like an unnecessary attempt to knock him when there’s really no basis to do that.”

Kaplan claims that even the $2,000 Scores strip club tip has a logical explanation. “That was for a group of people for a friend’s bachelor party,” says Kaplan, who adds that it wasn’t a tip: “That’s just how the club categorized it.”

Many of Federline’s tips are less extravagant. During a September trip to Fat Tony’s Italian Restaurant in North Carolina, he tipped $10.00 on a $41.69 bill.

Federline’s Double Life
The papers show two sides to K-Fed. Last August, he spent $304.30 to fly to Las Vegas on low-cost Southwest Airlines. (”He doesn’t fly private and more often he drives,” says Kaplan.) But once he was there, he didn’t cut corners. Over the next three days, he spent $3,038.69 at the Hard Rock Beach Club, $3,863.50 at Tao, and $10,220.65 at The Venetian.

Still, some of his spending is less rock star and more suburban dad. Routine charges at Target ($115.10), IKEA ($246.66) and Albertson’s grocery store ($405.75) fill his credit card statements, interspersed with occasional shopping sprees at toy stores. (In May, he dropped $2,167.52 in one day at Toys R Us and Babies R Us.)

Kaplan also disagrees with Britney Spears’ legal team’s argument that the larger expenses suggest Federline should foot some of the custody-battle legal bills that he’s asked her to pay.

“Don’t focus on whether he spent too much money going on a vacation or going to a restaurant,” says Kaplan. “Focus – as the court does – on was he reasonable having to incur these [court] fees? The answer is a resounding yes.” Kaplan says that the legal fees were “built up quite frankly by the conduct of [Spears]” during some of her court-delaying, widely-publicized antics.

“I don’t think the court should be distracted by the fact that he went to Las Vegas and spent $1,000 or $5,000,” says Kaplan. “It’s not relevant.”

Kevin Federline denies getting back together with Britney Spears

Kevin Federline

Kevin Federline has rebuked reports he is to whisk his ex-wife Britney Spears off on a secret Hawaiian getaway in a bid to save their fractured marriage.

The former couple has been locked in a bitter divorce and custody battle since splitting in 2006, but Star claimed they are set for a reconciliation after spending time together over Easter.

A source told the magazine, “Kevin wants to take Britney away to see if there is anything to salvage between them. When he suggested it to her, she told him she was ready to go anytime he was.”

However, according to TheCelebrityTruth.com, a representative for the wannabe rapper/dancer insists the reports are “not true”.
