Oscar winner Kevin Spacey, long the topic of rumor and innuendo regarding his sexuality, spoke — or refused to speak — about whether or not he is gay, in a new interview with The Daily Beast.
The interviewer, Kevin Sessums, is openly gay, and said the community has long welcomed Spacey as one of them — but asks Spacey why he, a noted gay marriage advocate, has not come out and returned the favor.
“Look, I might have lived in England for the last several years but I’m still an American citizen and I have not given up my right to privacy,” Spacey says, trying to stray from the subject. But when Sessums says that he does not believe one’s sexuality was a private matter, Spacey gets even more defiant.
“People have different reasons for the way they live their lives. You cannot put everyone’s reasons in the same box. It’s just a line I’ve never crossed and never will,” he says. Later, he asserts that not revealing his sexuality publicly does not qualify as living a lie.
Still, Spacey possibly alludes to the answer, saying, “Look, at the end of the day people have to respect people’s differences. I am different than some people would like me to be.”

Kevin Spacey is to merge the worlds of art and acting – by staging a comedy in which famous sculptures come to life.
The American Beauty actor is to put on a production of Drama Queens, in which renowned works of art – including Andy Warhol’s Brillo Box – are the stars of the show.
They will be activated by remote control – and Spacey and a host of other famous names will provide their voices.
The play is to be staged later this year at the Old Vic theater in London, where Spacey is artistic director.
He says, “It’s been of interest to find a way to merge the art and theatre worlds for some time. Some people may visit art galleries and never go to the theatre, or the other way around. This collaboration brings the two worlds together and shows how much the two artistic fields have in common. There will be some ‘top drawer’ names. It’s yet to be determined who I will voice.”

Kevin Spacey has blasted reports of his expanding entourage, insisting he always travels alone – except when he has a media engagement.
The 21 star was rumored to have hired a host of extra helpers to assist him on a daily basis – taking them everywhere he goes.
A source tells Britain’s OK! magazine, “He’s got bodyguards, several publicists, a make-up artist, a personal hairdresser, someone styling him…”
But Spacey’s representative has dismissed the claims, saying: “A publicist, a groomer and security are there when he does press. Just like they are for any other stars.”

Kevin Spacey hated working on location for his upcoming movie 21, because he is bored of Las Vegas.
The actor plays a ruthless academic intent on swindling millions from Sin City’s famous casinos in the new movie, but insists he didn’t live the high life while working in the gambling mecca.
He says, “I’ve been to Vegas a lot of times over the years, and in a sense I’m over it. We were there about a month. I didn’t party and I didn’t gamble. You just can’t when you’re on a movie. I played tennis on the days when I wasn’t working.”

Kevin Spacey fears that his latest movie has turned his co-star Josh Gad into a gambling addict.
In the movie 21, Spacey plays a mentor to a group of card-counting math whiz-kids who win millions at the blackjack tables.
Now, he fears that some of his castmates got too engrossed in the action.
Spacey explains, “I think we might’ve made a few compulsive gamblers. I think Josh Gad needs an intervention at this point because he’s a mad man. I do think he now has a serious gambling habit. If we started a gamblers anonymous for movie stars, Josh Gad would be the only member. I didn’t gamble much while I was there, but we were there for a month or so and I know some of the crew did get into some trouble and some of the actors couldn’t resist going out and trying to see if they could actually count the decks. I don’t think they did too well.”
