Destiny’s Child might reunite!

Destiny's Child

Destiny’s Child could return for a reunion performance next month, Beyoncé Knowles’ dad has revealed.

Mathew Knowles, who managed the group and carried on managing Beyoncé after she went solo, was tight-lipped about the details.

The R&B girl group split amicably in 2005 to allow the three remaining members to pursue individual careers

But he said Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, are still “best friends” and another Destiny’s Child record and tour could happen.

Beyoncé married rapper Jay-Z in April while Kelly recently scored an international number one single with Work.

Kelly Rowland takes HIV test for charity

Kelly Rowland

Kelly Rowland will undergo a HIV and Aids test in Africa to raise awareness of the deadly diseases – in a bid to try and dissolve the stigma surrounding the illnesses.

The former Destiny’s Child star decided to visit Nairobi to encourage the country’s young people to get tested for the illness, which is rife in the Kenyan capital.

Rowland is an ambassador for MTV’s Staying Alive Foundation, which aims to reduce discrimination against HIV and Aids victims, and has visited projects in Tanzania and Kenya to promote the charity.

She says, “Ignorance is not bliss when it comes to HIV infection, and it is important for everyone to know their HIV status. The quicker you know your status, the sooner you can receive treatment if you’re HIV+, and reduce the risk of inadvertently infecting future partners.”

Kelly Rowland narrowly missed getting hit by a fan’s hat

Kelly Rowland

Kelly Rowland had her headline performance at the Great American Gay Day 2008 rudely interrupted on Friday, when she narrowly missed being hit by a fan’s hat.

The Dilemma hitmaker was midway through her set at the Californian event when one devotee threw their white hat at the stage – almost hitting Rowland in the face.

The backing music came to halt as she called out to the crowd to identify the assailant – before making him apologise for his actions.

In video footage obtained by TMZ.com, she can be heard saying: “Who threw that up here? Come to the front, come to the front.”

The fan quickly apologized and Rowland handed back the flying headwear before resuming her performance.

Kelly Rowland waited a decade for new boobs

Kelly Rowland

Kelly Rowland was forced to wait 10 years to have a boob job, after her mother scuppered her teenage plans to go under the knife.

The R&B beauty underwent breast enlargement surgery last year to boost her modest A-cup to a B-cup, because she was fed up with her clothes not fitting her properly.

And she claims that although she was initially upset at her mom’s refusal to let her have the procedure when she was 17, she’s glad she took her advice and waited a further few years before getting her dream curves.

She tells WENN, “It was something I’d been thinking about since I was 17 years old, and my mum looked at me like I was crazy. “She said, ‘Let your body finish developing’, and I did, and I remember I thought about it when I got a little older, when I was around 20/21. I went in for a consultation and I was nervous, I was scared, so I thought about it a little more. Then a year later, I was still not comfortable, and finally I felt comfortable and I had the time to do it.”

But Rowland admits she was shocked by the media coverage of her breast implants – because she didn’t expect anyone to take notice of her more generous assets.

She adds, “It was something I didn’t really think that people would notice, but I guess it’s kinda noticeable!

“But then, the thing is, I felt that I couldn’t lie, and I felt like I didn’t have to lie, because now it’s like going to get your teeth cleaned! It’s just as simple as that, and I don’t think that it’s something that should be a feature or headline for the story; I don’t think it’s worth that, it’s just a decision that I decided to make for myself, so I could fit my clothes better!”

Kelly Rowland falls victim to the Jennifer Hudson curse

Kelly Rowland

R&B star Kelly Rowland has been left pondering the existence of a Jennifer Hudson curse on her and her Destiny’s Child bandmates, after losing out to the Oscar winner for a role in Sex and the City: The Movie.

Hudson landed the role of Louise, the assistant to Sarah Jessica Parker’s character Carrie Bradshaw, after fighting off competition from singer/actress Rowland.

And the Dilemma hitmaker was stunned to hear she had lost out on the movie opportunity, because she was convinced she had it in the bag.

She tells WENN, “I can’t understand it because I did a really good job at the audition, a really good job!
“I hate it, and of course I feel that I should have the part, but then Jennifer Hudson’s just won an Oscar, so maybe she’s better for the role. But I was so bummed at that, I really wanted it.”

It is the second time in as many years that Hudson has triumphed over the Destiny’s Child girls – in 2006, she was awarded the part of Effie White in the big-screen adaptation of musical Dreamgirls – the role Beyonce Knowles initially wanted to try out for. The Crazy In Love beauty later accepted the smaller part of Deena Jones, in a story loosely based on the rise and fall of The Supremes in the 1960s and 70s.

Kelly Rowland wants to join the celebrity book club

Kelly Rowland

Kelly Rowland wants to follow in the footsteps of her pop peers Madonna and Geri Halliwell – by releasing her own range of children’s literature.

The former Destiny’s Child star, 27, has already carved out a successful music career and has ventured into Hollywood – but she’s got her sights set on hitting book store shelves with her very own kids’ tales.

And she’s determined to establish herself as a serious author and actress within the next three years – before she turns 30.

She tells WENN, “There’s so much I want to achieve (before I’m 30). I want to write some children’s books… (but) we’ll see what happens. I’m excited about life, I’m excited about my new record… And hopefully another movie, some TV shows down the pipeline before I’m 30.”

Madonna released her first children’s book, titled The English Roses, in 2003, while Spice Girl Halliwell launched her own series of novels, centered around her main character Ugenia Lavender, earlier this month.
