Kelly Clarkson got into a kerfuffle last year with J Records label head honcho Clive Davis and her album, My December, was a flop.
It just goes to show that time heals all wounds. Clive Davis has extended an olive branch out to Kelly by including her photo among the very few that get included in his invite to his annual pre-Grammy dinner gala.
The swanky black and gold square-shaped invitation has four pages of past dinner performers. The book opens with Alicia Keys, and continues with such Davis stalwarts as Whitney Houston, Rod Stewart, Annie Lennox, Barry Manilow, Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson.
Maybe for her next album, she’ll listen to Clive, the old guy knows his music.
Okay, I have to admit… I was going to go see her in Portland this summer…don’t tell anyone. Guess the album really sucks like everyone says!
Kelly released a statement on her website:
“I can’t tell you how much I’ve been looking forward to getting out there to perform for y’all. In the craziness of the music business, performing is what I look forward to doing the most, so it really is disappointing for me to have to tell you that I won’t be coming out to tour this summer. The fact is that touring is just too much too soon.
But I promise you that we’re going to get back out there as soon as is humanly possible to give you a show that will be even better.
Thanks for all of your love and continued support.”
Original “American Idol” Kelly Clarkson is having serious musical issues — her album is reportedly being s**tcanned after her record label’s boss, Clive Davis, decided that he hated the new tracks. According to a British tab, the Daily Star, Davis was “absolutely merciless in his criticism” of Clarkson, and it’s back to the mixing board to get new songs recorded. Clarkson has won multiple Grammys and has sold more records than any other former “Idol” winner. No word from reps as to the status of the album.
