Keith Urban says his back injury is exaggerated

Keith Urban

Keith Urban insists reports of his back problems have been exaggerated by the media – and he’s not struggling onstage.

The singer/songwriter has been diagnosed with a slipped disc, but he’s keen to address speculation he’s in agony during shows.

He says, “The whole thing sort of gets exaggerated, as it often does. I just had sort of a bulging L5 disc… It was a little painful, but it just meant I had to perform a bit differently for a couple of shows we did recently. I just like to play a certain way, and it was weird to be a bit restricted… but I’m much better.”

Keith Urban suffers from a slipped disc

Keith Urban

Perhaps it’s a case of too much baby lifting, because new dad Keith Urban has been diagnosed with a slipped disc, his publicist, Paul Freundlich, confirms to People.

The rep wouldn’t comment on what caused the injury, but says it won’t affect the singer’s touring schedule.

Urban, 40, mentioned the setback to fans at a concert Saturday night at the Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa in Kelseyville, Calif., but, according to CMT.com, he went on to deliver an enthusiastic performance.

The singer has been dividing his time between Australia – where he, wife Nicole Kidman and their 7-week old daughter, Sunday Rose, have been visiting family – and his North American tour dates.

Next up is a headliner slot at this weekend’s Country Rocks Festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to be followed by a Sept. 5 appearance in New York City’s Columbus Circle for the NFL’s Kickoff Show.

Nicole Kidman: Baby Sunday Rose looks like Keith

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s newborn daughter, Sunday Rose, takes after her daddy, the actress said in a radio interview in Australia on Thursday.

“She looks like Keith,” said Kidman on the local Jackie O Show on 2DayFM. “She’s got a little bit of hair. … It has a bit of a reddish tinge.”

The family trio arrived in Australia Wednesday night local time, marking 1-month-old Sunday’s first trip to her parents’ home country – and her first chance to meet some of her grandparents.

“My Mum was there with me for the birth but my Dad hasn’t met her and Keith’s mum and dad are coming down,” the actress said.

Urban also chimed in on the radio show, calling his little girl “just awesome.”

“Anybody out there who’s got kids knows it’s just a certain kind of feeling that you can only experience when you do it – we’re stoked,” he said.

Nicole Kidman: Sunday Rose is a precious little angel

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are “in heaven” following the birth of their daughter Sunday Rose, who they call their “precious little angel”.

The new mom and her singer husband are overjoyed with their first child, who was born in Nashville, Tennessee last week.

And the actress couldn’t stop gushing in an e-mail to her friend and New York Post columnist, Liz Smith – who published the correspondence on the newspaper’s website.

Kidman writes: “We are in heaven. Can’t stop staring at her in complete awe. Feeling incredibly blessed to have been given this precious little angel.” And she adds, “Can’t wait for you to meet her!”

Nicole Kidmand rejects baby pictures deal

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban have reportedly rejected several multi-million dollar offers to publish the first pictures of their newborn daughter Sunday Rose.

The new mom and her singer husband are undecided whether to release a photograph of the newborn tot, but if they do it will be for free, reports Australian newspaper The Sydney Morning Herald.

A source tells the publication, “They don’t think it’s appropriate to make deals. They are still deciding how they feel about (it) – if and when they will release a photo at all. But they realize there is enormous interest from the public and they are grateful and appreciative of that.

“Nicole and Keith have been enjoying their first few days at home with their firstborn tot – Nicole is thinking about things like breastfeeding right now.”

Kidman gave birth in Nashville, Tennessee last week to Sunday Rose, who weighed six pounds, seven and a half ounces.

The tot is Kidman’s first biological child. She adopted 15-year-old Isabella and Connor, 13, during her marriage to Tom Cruise.

Nicole Kidman & Keith Urban close on their Beverly Hills home

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban will bring up their baby daughter Sunday in a new $5 million California mansion.

Kidman delivered the couple’s first child in a hospital in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday.

But the new family will set up home in a gated, five-bedroom, five-bathroom estate in Beverly Hills, after closing a deal on the pad.
A source tells Usmagazine.com, “It’s very modern with treetop and canyon views, and it has complete privacy. They’ve been looking for more than a year and finally decided this house was the one.”

Why Nicole Kidman Named Newborn Daughter Sunday Rose?

wenn5095175.jpg

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban chose a “really adorable and original” baby name for newborn daughter Sunday Rose, baby name expert Pam Satran, coauthor of Cool Names and The Baby Name Bible, tells Usmagazine.com.

“Sunday [is] a choice to rival Tom and Katie’s Suri and Brad and Angelina’s Shiloh,” Satran says.

Kidman, 41, gave birth to Sunday – who weighed 6 pounds, 7 ounces – on Monday morning. It is the first child for the actress and Urban, 40. (Kidman has two adopted children – Connor, 13, and Isabella, 15 – with ex Tom Cruise.)

“Sunday is one of the next generation of word names,” explains Satran. “But it also harkens back to the ancient tradition of day-naming as practiced by many African tribes and originally brought to America by the early slaves.”

Other famous day names? Actress Tuesday Weld, the character Wednesday Addams and Robinson Crusoe’s Friday.

“Some modern parents like Sunday because of its spiritual element, which connects to such other starbaby names as Angelina and Brad’s son Pax and pop names like Nevaeh,” Satran adds.

Sunday emulates Suri because both “unusual first names begin with Su and have two syllables,” says Satran.

The name also represents Whitsundays, an island chain off the coast of Queensland, Australia – where Kidman and Urban celebrated her 40th birthday – and it is a day of prayer in Kidman’s Catholic religion.

Satran says Rose is the “starbaby middle name of the decade.”

The daughters of Michelle Pfeiffer, Teri Hatcher, Ewan McGregor and Eric Clapton all have Rose as their middle name. Sylvester Stallone, Satran points out, has three daughters with the middle name Rose.

The couple’s decision to give Sunday Rose both of their last names “is a signal that this is a marriage of equals,” Satran says.
