Keira Knightley insists she hasn’t secured the lead role in the remake of My Fair Lady just yet, despite reports to the contrary.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star is the favorite to take Audrey Hepburn’s iconic role in the update of the 1964 musical, based on George Bernard Shaw’s comedy of manners Pygmalion.
But Knightley is adamant a final casting decision has yet to be made – so she’s keeping her “fingers crossed”.
However, if she does become the leading lady, she is keen to try and hit the high notes – and sing all the musical’s songs without any help.
She tells MTV.com, “It’s an interesting prospect, but there’s nothing concrete. Fingers crossed on that one (landing the part). I like doing things where I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to do them or not (singing). I think you have to push yourself. You have to admit you’re going to fail at some point. You’ve got to try. Like with anything I do, there’s always a part of me that says, ‘I can’t do that. This is going to be the one where I fall on my face completely.’ It would be exciting to try it.”

Keira Knightley has revealed she has no plans to reprise her role as Elizabeth Swan in the Pirates of the Caribbean series.
The actress, who can currently be seen in The Duchess, starred in three films in the franchise alongside Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.
However, Female First magazine reports that she is planning to explore other kinds of films.
“I think it was wonderful and an amazing opportunity and those films were just extraordinary and I was extremely lucky to be a part of them,” Keira told the publication.
“But no. I think my pirating days may be over.”
Meanwhile, Johnny Depp has reportedly reunited with Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski to work on a new animated film Rango.
According to online news resource the Hollywood News, Depp will voice one of the characters in the film, which sees a household pet embark on an adventure to discover itself.
The film has a release date of March 2011 set.

Keira Knightley has hit out at photographers who follow her – because too much attention is not good for her film career.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star insists the biggest stars are hardly ever pictured in public, and that over-exposure of Hollywood A-listers puts people off seeing their movies.
And she claims some snappers deliberately hurl insults at her to try to provoke a reaction and get a better picture.
She says, “I know that I am very lucky, but sometimes the intrusion is a very predatory force. When you are leaving your front door and paparazzi who are a lot bigger than you are shouting, ‘You’re a whore’ to try and make you cry – that obviously is not great. I am told by a lot of the paparazzi who follow me that they are helping my career but, by that logic, Paris Hilton should be the biggest box-office catch in the world and she isn’t.”
And Knightley adds: “It is not good for any actor when your life becomes the story because, in your acting work, you are trying to tell a different story. What’s more, there is actual proof that if actors get too much attention, people just don’t go and see the film. That sort of over-exposure is something to be wary of.”

Keira Knightley was left physically shaken after a fan turned on her with a expletive loaded rant while she was out in public alone.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star was walking alone close to her London home when she was surprised by a overzealous fan who tried to speak to her.
The actress admits she was thinking of future film projects at the time and was shocked by the man shouting her name.
But, when the actress failed to respond to her name being called, the fan became aggressive – calling her a “c**t”. And the star was left feeling “jumpy” by the unexpected taunt.
She says, “The other day I was walking down the street and was really thinking about this book I’d been sent. You know when you’re really in another place. Somebody jumped out and went, ‘Keira Knightley!’ I got such a shock, I couldn’t say anything because I’d been thinking about the book and this guy took incredible offense and started hurling the most amazing abuse. He said, ‘Who the f**k do you think you are? You’re such a c**t.’ All this, and I’m completely on my own.”
And Knightley is finding it hard to recover from the encounter.
She adds, “It’s weird thing to have to deal with, not on a day-to-day basis, but it’s happened enough to make me quite jumpy.”
