Sienna Miller & Keira Knightley bond over babies

Sienna Miller & Keira Knightley

Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller bonded on the set of new movie The Edge of Love – because they share a passion for children.

The stars’ roles in the picture required them to carry around young children and it made them considered having kids of their own.

Miller says, “As a woman you have instincts and you do get a bit broody, definitely. It didn’t last, though.”

Knightley adds, “The babies were amazing, absolutely gorgeous.”

Keira Knightley: The Edge of Love is about female friendship

Keira Knightley

Keira Knightley has argued that her new film The Edge of Love, about the two women in Dylan Thomas’ life, is really about female camaraderie.

In the John Maybury film, based on the life of the Welsh poet (Matthew Rhys), Knightley plays his childhood sweetheart Vera Phillips while Sienna Miller stars as Caitlin MacNamara, his wife.

But while it could be expected that the wartime drama would be a tale of two women warring for the heart of one man, the actress see the film as the story of an unusual bond between rivals.

“I think it is a story about female friendship and female rivalry and about a friendship that manages to surpass a bloke,” Knightley explained on ITV1’s LK Today.

“I was trying to be intelligent there but completely failed!” she joked.

Miller added that the bond between the two women is “really rare”.

“I think both of them are a little bit lonely and they had never really had this kind of a relationship with a woman before and it was kind of, almost, born out of their love for the same man,” she added.

Despite loving the same man, both Caitlin and Vera struggle to remain faithful, with Vera’s husband William Killick (Cillian Murphy) damaged by both his experiences in the forces and his insecurity over his wife’s relationship with Dylan.

And according to Knightley, the pain and deceit that go hand in hand with romance are the central themes of the film.

“I think the whole thing is about the reality of relationships and how you can ruin something, how people aren’t always good, how people aren’t always honorable,” she explained.

The Edge of Love is released on June 20th.

Emma Watson is replacing Keira Knightley for Chanel

Emma Watson

Harry Potter star Emma Watson is set to replace Keira Knightley as the face of French fashion house Chanel, signing a reported $6 million contract.

Knightley has been the star of the advertising campaigns for premium fragrance Coco Chanel since 2006, but the actress’s contract expires this summer.

And bosses at Chanel have reportedly lined up 18-year-old Watson to take Knightley’s place.

A source tells British newspaper The Mail on Sunday, “Emma has been slowly integrated into the Chanel brand. They have been dressing her for film premieres and parties over recent months to see if she is the right fit.”

“Once it became clear she is growing into a beautiful young woman and wears the Chanel brand so elegantly, they had to sign her up.”

Keira Knightley’s mom hits out at anorexia rumors

Keira Knightley

Keira Knightley’s screenwriter mother Sharman Macdonald has hit out at media rumors suggesting her daughter is suffering from anorexia – comparing the press to “playground bullies”.

Knightley has long been dogged by rumors that her waif-like figure is the result of an eating disorder, but she has always denied this – blaming her genes for her naturally svelte figure.

Last year, the 23-year-old successfully sued a British tabloid newspaper for publishing an article which accused her of being anorexic and setting a bad example to young girls.

And the star’s mother Macdonald can’t understand why the media is so obsessed with her daughter’s weight.

She tells British newspaper The Sunday Times, “She’s always been thin. She’s her daddy’s daughter, with his long body.
“It’s a playground situation that we’re looking at with the press – it’s a form of bullying – but what can we do?”

Keira Knightley in a remake of My Fair Lady?

my_fair_lady.jpg

Keira Knightley is in talks for the updated remake of My Fair Lady in the works at Columbia Pictures, according to Variety.

Though the studio has reportedly declined comment on any casting, the trade paper reports that the actress is in negotiations for the starring role as Eliza Doolittle, the simple Cockney flower girl who is able to transform into a proper lady under the tutelage of Professor Henry Higgins.

Duncan Kenworthy (Love Actually, Notting Hill) is producing along with London theatrical producer Cameron Mackintosh. The project is being described as an update, though it will use the musical’s original score and retain its 1912 setting.

My Fair Lady was first staged in 1956 featuring Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison, and Audrey Hepburn starred with Harrison in 1964’s Oscar-winning George Cukor-helmed film.
