What’s up with her hair?

Keira Knightley won her lead part in the forthcoming My Fair Lady remake by arriving at the audition drunk.
The British actress was so anxious about meeting theater impresario Cameron Mackintosh to try out for the part, she turned to alcohol to calm her nerves.
She recalls, “It was in front of Cameron himself, so the only option was to get drunk. I probably did slur my words – I can’t remember.”
But the tactic appeared to work – as Knightley was subsequently cast as Eliza Doolittle, the flower girl made famous by Audrey Hepburn, opposite Daniel Day-Lewis in a updated version of the 1964 musical .

Keira Knightley is determined to prove she is not dumb after dropping out of school at 17.
The British star, who is famed for portraying upper class characters in films like Pride and Prejudice and Atonement, suffers from dyslexia.
But she insists her learning disability and poor academia record only spurs her on more to show she is brainy.
She says, “It (dyslexia) makes me feel I am going to read absolutely everything so I can prove that I am not stupid.”
Knightley also admits that giving up university in favor of a film career has left her with a “chip on her shoulder” over her lack of education.
She adds, “I am completely uneducated. Not going to university did give me an incredible driving force because it leaves you with a slight chip on your shoulder.

Keira Knightley has refused to allow her bust to be digitally enlarged – because she is so proud of her body.
The waif-like star, 23, reportedly dismissed studio bosses’ suggestion to use computer trickery to boost her petite breasts on publicity posters.
It is claimed publicity shots for her forthcoming movie The Duchess would have featured a bustier version of the British actress – but she insisted against it.
A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mail, “She has insisted that her figure stay in its natural state. She is proud of her body and doesn’t want it altered.”
In 2004, Knightley was criticized when she appeared in publicity shots for King Arthur with digitally-enhanced breasts.

Keira Knightley was happy to film a sex scene for new movie The Edge of Love – even though the naked romp was written by her mother.
The movie’s screenplay was penned by Knightley’s mum, Sharman MACdonald, who also served as a producer on the project.
Knightley insists that knowing her mother is capable of writing about steamy clinches didn’t faze her and she was happy to strip off wherever necessary.
She says, “She dared to put a sex scene in it. It didn’t worry me that my mother knows what sex is. Come to think of it, I was found under an apple tree. My mother is a virgin. I had no hissy fits when she presented me with the scene.”

Keira Knightley has no problem appearing in the buff for her latest film. In fact, she says it’s becoming a habit.
“I always bare my breasts,” she said at the press conference to promote The Edge of Love Wednesday at the Edinburgh International Film Festival. “It’s not like it’s only in this film!”
The British actress, 23, is best known for the Pirates of the Caribbean films; last year she went au naturale in the period drama Atonement.
Referring to a scene in the wartime romance The Edge of Love with her onscreen husband Cillian Murphy, Knightley said: “It was very simple. It was a sex scene and I never like them when they’ve got bras on.”
So when the director asked her to remove her bra, “I said, ‘All right then.’”
But when it came to her singing scenes, the British actress needed much more persuasion. On hearing she had to sing live in front of the cast and 100 extras, she said, “I thought I was going to die. My knees actually started buckling.”
The film was written by Sharman Macdonald, Knightley’s mother, who says her actress daughter was the inspiration for writing the period romance that also stars Sienna Miller, 26, and Matthew Rhys (Brothers and Sisters.)
“I wasn’t particularly pleased that Shar put singing into the script – in the first couple of takes I sounded like a apubescent boy,” says Knightley, who calls her mom Shar and instead of mother.
At the film’s premiere in Scotland on Wednesday, Knightley (in a cream Chanel jumpsuit) and Miller (in a Jasmine de Milo dress) walked the red carpet holding hands.
The two fashionable costars “are incredibly warm in the film and that’s the way they are in life,” says mom Macdonald. “They knew each other slightly before and then they just completely bonded on the film. I hope they will be friends for life!”
