The movie will be shot in Trollhattan, Sweden, with actors Kiefer Sutherland, Kirsten Dunst, Stellan Skarsgard and Alexander Skarsgard. Melancholia is a sci-fi disaster film that will shoot July through September in Southern Sweden.

Kiefer Sutherland has returned to the set of hit TV show 24 after filming was halted because he needed to undergo surgery.

Doctors gave the star the all clear to return to work and continue filming the eighth series, Twentieth Century Fox Television said.

Fox has not disclosed what was wrong with the star, referring to it as a “medical procedure” earlier this month.

20th Century Fox Television has temporarily shut down production of “24″ so that star and executive producer Kiefer Sutherland can undergo a surgical procedure related to a ruptured cyst near his kidney.

Although the cyst ruptured while he was working earlier in the week, production continued until Friday without him. His publicist, Evelyn Karamanos, issued the following statement on Sunday to the Times:

“While Kiefer Sutherland is frustrated to miss even one day of work, he and Fox decided together that it would be best to complete this minor elective procedure now as a precaution as opposed to six weeks from now when production wraps. He looks forward to returning to work next week.”

Production will probably resume in one week. 20th Century Fox Television also issued a statement on Sunday:

“We are temporarily suspending production of ’24′ while our friend and colleague Kiefer Sutherland undergoes a medical procedure. We hope to resume production shortly and do not anticipate any disruption in the broadcast of this season’s episodes.”

Jack Bauer may finally hit the big screen. Though Fox has yet to decide whether to pick up a ninth season of 24, an insider confirmed that the film side is in talks with Billy Ray (State of Play) to write a screenplay for the franchise.

It’s take two for Kiefer Sutherland and his ex-wife, former model Kelly Winn.

“He’s been sneaking up to her house in L.A. and spending a lot of time with her,” a source tells Star.

While the duo split in 1999 after three years together, their divorce wasn’t finalized until May 2008 because they were hoping to reconcile. Twice-wed 24 star Kiefer, 42, later romanced magazine editor Siobhan Bonnouvrier — but when that relationship began to fizzle in late summer, he raced back into 48-year-old Kelly’s arms.

“She really understands him and his quirks, and once the pressure was off to fix the marriage, he relaxed and became more open with her,” says the source. “He’s finally realized he never should have left Kelly.”

Adding: “It’s still in the early stages, but Kelly hopes it will work this time.”
