Katy Perry just announced that she’ll be hosting Saturday Night Live on December 10th! She Tweeted: “I have a HUGE announcement that I can finally tell u (I’ve had to keep it a secret 4ever!) U ready?!?! I’m SO excited 2 announce I’ll be HOSTING Saturday Night Live Dec. 10! This is the cherry on top and @robynkonichiwa is part of it!”

Musical guest Robyn will also be on the show that night. Anyone else surprised Katy’s not the host – and the musical guest?

Katy Perry wore this dress by Vivienne Westwood at last night’s American Music Awards. I don’t mind it – but I don’t love it either. It suits Katy perfectly, however. I like the contrast of the blue shoes and pink hair with the dress.

Katy walked the red carpet solo, even though hubby Russell Brand was in NY! What’s he so busy with that he can’t show up to support his wife! Of course, this naturally means that they’re having marriage problems – or they’re pregnant. One of the two.

If Russell Brand and Katy Perry want to quash rumours that their year-old marriage is on the rocks, they are certainly going about it in a strange way.

Last week, singer Katy, 27, appeared on a U.S. chat show to talk about their plans to start a family, but privately she is telling friends her marriage is in trouble.

She is understood to have confided in musician Tore Nissen, who is playing in a support act on her California Dreams world tour.

‘Tore has been a shoulder to cry on for Katy,’ says a mole. ‘They get along well, so much so that his girlfriend became suspicious and joined him on the tour.’

Meanwhile, Russell, 35, jokingly took off his wedding ring as he announced plans for a stand-up comedy tour of U.S. colleges – and also poked fun at ‘sororities’ – female societies at universities.

‘I don’t know what a sorority is .  .  . except that they are sort of sex clubs for women,’ he posted. ‘I am going to learn first-hand about sororities.’

Katy’s performance last night was one of the one ones that I actually enjoyed. I think her voice sounded incredible. I liked the slower version of ‘One That Got Away’ she performed.

After performing the song, Katy was met with a standing ovation as well as a special award of achievement for scoring five #1 singles from Teenage Dream on Billboard‘s Hot 100, an achievement only equal to Michael Jackson and his 1987 Bad LP.

“Yay! Can I just say, thank you so much for letting me be a chameleon this year,” the starlet screamed during her acceptance speech. “I’m very, very, very pleased, and I want to give thanks to my amazing record label, EMI and Capitol. … I’m about to wrap up my California Dreams Tour, 122 dates, so I want to thank my band and all the people that came out to see me, and all of you guys, ’cause you’re pretty cool too!”

After Katy Perry was seen out and about earlier this week, media outlts began speculating that the ‘California Girls’ singer was sporting a baby bump. And since 2011 has officially become baby bump watchwith over a dozen stars expecting, many took the story and ran with it, adding Katy and Russell Brand to the list of new parents.

During her visit to the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the ‘Fireworks’ star revealed that she can’t wait to have children with comedian hubbie ofover a year:

“I would love to have children,” the I Kissed A Girl singer told DeGeneres. “I think that’s one of the reasons you get married.

“Especially to the person that you marry. You think, that person is going to be a good partner, a good parent. But, I’m not sure it’s yet. We’ll see, ya know.”

“It will hurt: I’ve heard that it hurts,” DeGeneres joked. “Word around town is it hurts!”

The MTV Europe Music Awards took place in Belfast, Ireland yesterday.

Lady Gaga too home the most awards at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Belfast Sunday, winning four prizes (one more when she led the pack with three in 2010).

The flamboyant 25-year-old New Yorker won best female, best song and video for her hit single “Born This Way” as well as the biggest fans award.

“I knew that this song was very special when I wrote it and I just didn’t know when I first started out … how special you would all be to me,” a tearful Gaga told a packed, boisterous Odyssey Arena as she accepted the best song award.

“This is the single most important song that I’ve ever written and the single most important album. I love you little monsters to the end!” she added, using the term she employs to describe her fans.

Canadian teen sensation Justin Bieber was among the other multiple winners, picking up best pop act and top male singer.

Much of the attention in the run-up to the awards has been on the 17-year-old, who has denied allegations made by a U.S. woman that he fathered her child when he was 16.

Accepting the second of his awards, he said: “There’s been a lot of crap talked about me lately, but I’ve pulled through!” according to MTV.

Bieber’s girlfriend Selena Gomez, an actress and singer, hosted the MTV event, and the pair were photographed out the previous night in the city in a public show of togetherness.

She also told Katy Perry during the show “I think he’s cute!”

Los Angeles rockers Thirty Seconds to Mars won two awards — best alternative act and best world stage — as did Bruno Mars, honored as the best new act and “push” artist who was promoted by MTV as an up-and-coming talent.

Perry was voted best live act, Eminem won best hip-hop artist, repeating his 2010 success, and Linkin Park scooped best rock. More than 150 million MTV viewers voted and decided most of the categories.
