Since splitting from husband Russell Brand, Katy Perry has kept a very low profile.  She was spotted earlier today flying out of LAX.

The 27-year-old singer wore a zig-zag Missoni dress as she flew out of LAX. She’s reportedly headed to Singapore.

Russell, 36, is speaking out for the first time since their December 30 separation.

Teamed with her new brilliant blue hair and high grey heels, she looked the epitome of the glamorous singleton. Katy is believed to be on her way to Singapore.

Meanwhile, estranged husband Russell, 36, has spoken publicly for the first time since their separation was announced on December 30.

There has been rumours that Katy was going to meet her estranged husband in LA.

He had arrived in America last week after retreating to his London home in the wake of their separation. It is not clear if he met up with his ex-wife

The friend told the newspaper: ‘He has agreed to meet her one last time. He wants to sort things out and finalise the divorce.

‘But Katy says she is still in love with him and she still has hopes they might get back together.’

Katy’s appearance at the airport today is only the second time she has been snapped since it was announced her marriage had collapsed just before New Year.

Last week she was seen dressed in bright sports clothes and showing off blue hair as she shot a commercial for Adidas.

Despite recent reports that her Evangelical parents have been pushing her to date Christian Denver Broncos NFL star Tim Tebow, 24, they have been in contact with their son-in-law.

The source said: ‘Keith and Mary have also been reaching out to Russell and sent him a text telling him he is in their thoughts and that they love him.’

Katy Perry has just announced she’ll no longer be attending the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday in Los Angeles. It was only a couple days ago that Katy broke her silence since her husband, Russell Brand, filed for divorce.

“Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People’s Choice Awards,” she tweeted on Monday about her scheduled appearance. “I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS.” The singer is up for seven awards at the show, including Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist and Song of the Year for her Kanye West-assisted “E.T.”

A week after Brand filed for divorce from his pop-star wife of 14 months, Perry used the social-networking site to thank her fans for sticking by her during this trying personal time — without directly confirming the split. “I am so grateful for all the love and support I’ve had from people around the world,” she wrote. “You guys have made my heart happy again.”

In another tweet, she addressed the tabloid chatter that has been swirling since news of the split hit the Web on December 30. “Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me,” she said, “Not a blog, magazine, ‘close sources’ or my family.”

Perry’s still scheduled to make two appearances on her California Dreams Tour later this month, one on January 19 in Jakarta, Indonesia, and another on January 22 in the Philippines, according to her website. With the PCA appearance canceled, Perry’s next awards-show appearance could take place February 12 at the Grammys, where she’s up for Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for “Firework.”

There were rumors yesterday that the PCA’s uninvited Russell Brand to make things more comfortable for Katy. Wonder if the invitation is back on now?

After the news broke, everyone and their dog decided to dissect their marriage and find out exactly what went wrong, and what caused the brief marriage to come to such a fiery end.

Apparently Katy’s parents decided to talk about their daughter’s divorce – in the church they run. A church that the Daily Mail reports is unusually packed these days!

Katy Perry’s religious parents have managed to see something positive in the breakdown of their daughter’s one year marriage. The pair spoke about their daughter’s divorce for the first time – from the pulpit of their evangelical church, which was unusually packed it seems.

Pastors Keith and Mary Hudson were seen taking to the stage to speak out about their famous daughter and the audience appeared captivated. The ministers suggested her split with Russell Brand was a gift sent by God – to help them fill churches.

Mary, 63, preached to the Church on the Rise congregation in Westlake, Ohio: “I’m sure that Katy’s trending on the Internet was to get you here to church tonight. I mean all over the world, who knows how God is bringing them in? The most important thing is you are here and God wants to put the fire in you in 2012.”

Mary was dressed in an all black ensemble with over the knee bots and a black jumper which she accessorised with a chunky silver necklace. She and husband Keith, 63, billed themselves as “Katy Perry’s parents” in marketing materials for the event, reported CNN. They spoke for about 90 minutes to 300 worshippers in the first service since Katy’s split with the comedian on Friday. A video was shown before the Hudsons took the stage in Ohio showed them at award shows with Katy.

Keith told the crowd he converted from a drug user to a Christian when he was 24 years old. He added that his daughter’s success had helped the couple share their beliefs with Hollywood superstars. “What has taken place in my daughter’s life has opened many opportunities to go in and be with guarded and gated people. God has given us a platform to go in and meet people — and they like us because we are cool. We are not threatening.

“I love my daughter and I will always love her. Stop being judgmental and critical. Do not close the doors to your loved ones, especially your children. Just because they do not like what you do or what you are, they are still praying that you stay in the race. They are counting on you. I believe in God, for every one of my children.”

I think it’s sooooooooo disgusting that Katy’s parents are profiting off of their daughter – especially in the name of religion. It makes my stomach sick. It’s one thing for it to be common knowledge that they’re Katy’s parents. It’s something entirely different to profit off the fact by calling yourself “Katy Perry’s parents” in marketing materials.

There have been numerous reports that Russell Brand and estranged wife Katy Perry hung up the honeymoon period of their relationship around…well…their honeymoon, and even with the rumors that the couple were endlessly fighting and behaving immaturely, friends still say they didn’t see this split coming.

“I was shocked when I found out,” a source who knows the couple tells PEOPLE. “I was really surprised that Russell filed for divorce so quickly – especially at Christmas time.”

“I thought they would be together for a long time. Maybe not forever – but definitely not just 14 months.”

“They were always laughing. They were very affectionate, always holding hands. They seemed like they were really in love.”

Another source says that the pair took their marriage “very seriously”:

Last week we found out that Russell Brand had filed for divorce from his wife, Katy Perry. This week we get to dissect their whole marriage – and try and figure out what went wrong, and why. US Weekly has taken the stance that Russell was a crazy person that blindsided Katy. I’m not buying it. I definitely agree that Katy knew he was going to file – and was in on it from the beginning. I don’t necessarily agree that Russell is crazy, but I do think he was never suited for a person like Katy Perry. This is probably something they should have figured out in the beginning. Maybe several of these things listed below should have been brought up BEFORE they wed. Just sayin.

Friday afternoon, word broke that Russell Brand had filed for divorce from Katy Perry, his wife of 14 months. And while we’ve all been suspecting for a while now that their marriage was in trouble, Russell’s sudden filing seemed shocking.

Katy Perry WANTED Russell Brand to file the court papers in their divorce … because she didn’t want to upset her religious parents … sources connected to the former couple tell TMZ.

We’re told … Katy and Russell knew the relationship was on the rocks a couple of months ago — but didn’t want to give up on the marriage without making a concerted effort to work things out. But the effort fell flat … with both sides feeling “it just wasn’t there.”

We’re told both Katy and Russell were on board with the divorce a few weeks ago — but they didn’t want to be in town when the papers were filed … so he went back to England and she booked it to Hawaii.

Since Katy’s parents are evangelical Christians, we’re told she didn’t want to be the one to “officially” end the marriage by filing the docs … since she was raised to believe divorce is wrong.

After he filed the docs, Russell released a statement Friday insisting the two will “remain friends.”

Rumor has it the couple simply grew apart. Shortly after getting married, Katy embarked on a major world tour, leaving her husband behind. There’s also that whole bit about Russell being sober, and liking to stay in for a quieter life. Katy on the other hand, likes to party – and go out with her friends. Those types of personalities do not mix.  Either way, the two had spent months squashing rumors that they were in any sort of trouble, including Katy declaring she was taking a year off to spend time with her husband.

And another thing, Russell is an admitted sex-addict, and I’m wondering if he was able to stay faithful while Katy was out on the road so much. Who knows.

Rumors that Katy was blindsided by the divorce are simply not true. Katy’s strictly religious upbringing made her believe divorce is wrong, so Russell filed – at her urging.

Sources close to Katy Perry and Russell Brand tell TMZ … the couple was infatuated with each other when they tied the knot, but the honeymoon ended very quickly. According to our sources, Katy and Russell were initially head over heels for each other – each fascinated to be with someone who was an extreme opposite.

But we’re told the two began a regime of constant bickering after they got married — often in front of people at clubs and awards shows. They’re both very stubborn and neither would easily back down.

Our sources tell us … because of the friction and their schedules …they never spent long periods of time with each other.

One big bone of contention … Russell was much more of a homebody than Katy. Katy loved going out and partying, while Russell (who is sober) didn’t enjoy the scene at all. We’re told he would often insist on leaving places early and asking her to come with … which would trigger an argument.

But we’re told … as the dust settles, neither hates the other — far from it. There’s no bad blood between them, and neither of them believes the other cheated.

As one person put it, “It was just a bad pairing.”

Another interesting tidbit, for some reason Katy and Russell didn’t have a prenup. Considering how much money was made on Katy’s tour while they were married, methinks that Russell is about to become much, much richer.

After months of media rumors that the pair were having marital issues and being snapped separate for the holidays sans their wedding rings, TMZ reports that actor/comedian Russell Brand has indeed filed for divorce from his pop princess wife Katy Perry.

In the docs, filed in L.A., Brand cites “irreconcilable differences.” The two were married Oct. 23, 2010 in India.  They have no kids.

Russell released a simple statement saying:

“Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”

Earlier this month Russell on the Ellen DeGeneres Show saying that he and Katy were happily married and “until death do us part was the pledge,” but when they spent the holidays apart the rumors of discontent began swirling once again.

Although it’s not 100%, based on what we now know it appears Brand may have blindsided Perry by filing the divorce petition.
