There’s less than a week left until Katie Holmes debuts on Broadway in Arthur Miller’s All My Sons, and her good friend Jada Pinkett Smith has high hopes for her performance, according to Us Weekly.

“I know she is going to be fabulous,” Jada told the mag.

Jada is so confident about her Katie’s acting chops that she said to US, “I am going to be there on opening night.”

Katie won’t be the only star lighting up the stage in the play – she’ll join hunky Patrick Wilson and veterans Dianne Wiest and John Lithgow in the production. Previews begin on September 18, 2008 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theater in New York, and the play will open on October 16 and run through January 11, 2009.

Katie Holmes seems to have everything: a movie-star husband, a beautiful daughter and a new theater career.

But there’s something missing: her friends!

Apart from a post-rehearsal dinner in NYC with her All My Sons co-star John Lithgow, 62, on August 28, Katie, 29, has isolated herself since she moved to the Big Apple in July.

She’s ignored old pals such as her Dawson’s Creek co-star Michelle Williams, 28, who lives nearby with her daughter, Matilda, 2.

And it’s been months since Katie was spotted with any of her old celeb pals like Kate Beckinsale, Eva Longoria Parker or Victoria Beckham.

For one former confidante, though, Mrs. Cruise’s antisocial attitude is no surprise.

“Katie and I were best friends until she met Tom,” the source tells OK!. “Then, overnight, we went from talking every day to nothing. She was so single-minded about her life with him that no one else mattered.”

Another source agrees, “Katie never had a big group of girlfriends, but after Tom, she stopped calling them.

“It was amazing she could cut everyone off so fast — business associates, her hair and makeup team, as well as friends.”

However, an insider explains, “Katie is taking this Broadway role very, very seriously.

“Maybe even a little too seriously. Katie has always been focused and knows exactly what she wants.”

And that’s not being popular — it’s being a Broadway star!

The past few months have been good to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. On July 12, soon after moving into a $60 million mansion in France, they welcomed twins Vivienne and Knox into their family. Things have been equally hectic for Hollywood’s other super couple, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Tom, 46, has gotten raves for his role in the box-office smash Tropic Thunder but has had to deal with the constantly changing release date of his World War II drama Valkyrie. Making their lives even busier, Katie’s in New York rehearsing for her Broadway debut in All My Sons (opening night is Oct. 16).

Although the two couples are living on different continents at the moment, that hasn’t stopped them from being competitive. Though reps for Tom and Katie deny a feud, “Brad’s and Angelina’s careers have taken off,” a Cruise family insider tells Life & Style. “It seems as though Tom’s always trying to compete with Brad, and that’s a difficult job.”

After all, Brad, 44, and Angie, 33, are seen as Hollywood’s golden couple. “All the negative press Tom gets over Scientology and the rumors about how his relationship with Katie was fake have left him with the sense that he’s not, you know, as beloved anymore,” says an insider close to the couple. And Brad has these causes — save the children, rebuild New Orleans, donate to charity — while Angelina’s practically St. Angelina these days. How do you compete with that?” In fact, the insider says, Tom has started to kid that he’s past his prime: “He’ll turn to Katie and joke, ‘It’s up to you now, kid!’ He’ll laugh, but it’s a worry, too, like he’s tapping into some insecurity.”

An anti-Scientology group plans to stage a protest when Katie Holmes takes to the stage for her Broadway debut next month.

The former Dawson’s Creek star is due to begin her run in Arthur Miller’s All My Sons at New York’s Gerald Schoenfeld Theater on October 16th. But it is feared her opening night will be marred by protests from the Anonymous campaign group - whose members plan on picketing the theater in protest against the controversial religion.

Holmes - who was raised as a Roman Catholic - converted to Scientology after meeting her husband Tom Cruise.

A spokesperson for the group tells MSNBC.com that the protest will go ahead, adding: “We aren’t looking to shut it (All My Sons) down, we don’t have the power to do that, we just want to prove a point. We want to draw attention to Scientology, and hopefully get Katie out of it before it’s too late.”

The Anonymous group is known for the faceless masks worn by members, and recently picketed the Scientology Center in New York.
