Joined by dad Tom Cruise, Suri, Connor and Katie Holmes all went shopping at a Boston area boutique on September 20, 2009 where the famous pair treated the kids to quite the shopping spree!

Then later, Katie Holmes takes Suri Cruise out for some afternoon shopping on September 20, 2009 while papa Cruise worked on his latest film “Witchita”. By the looks of it, Suri is ready for her close up as she playfully sports some of mum’s lipstick as the pair walk around Boston.

At last, the wait is over. After acquiring several intriguing projects, and spending millions of dollars to rewrite them into perfection, Tom Cruise has decided on his next movie — and it’s “Wichita.”

According to Variety, Cruise has decided to pair up with Cameron Diaz for James Mangold’s action comedy. Not only does this end Cruise’s quest for his next project (and apparently it was a close call between this and Len Wiseman’s “Motorcade”), but it’s also a happy ending for the troubled “Wichita,” a film that has seen directors and stars come and go.

Cruise and Diaz both gave their approval to the final script, which underwent a recent rewrite by Scott Frank (”Minority Report”), and is now being smoothed out by Mangold and Laeta Kalogridis (”Shutter Island.”) Variety previously reported that the story revolves around a single chick who has terrible luck with men, but meets a mysterious, handsome man on a blind date. Now we know that the mysterious man is actually a secret agent who pops in and out of the woman’s life. The film also has several new action scenes tailor-made for Cruise, pulling it out of the romantic comedy genre and into something that can attract a wider audience.

Now, let’s hope that the action scenes don’t shortchange Diaz’s character. I’d love it if this was all framed from her perspective, a play on Cruise’s “Mission: Impossible” persona to show the day-to-day perils of actually dating a secret agent. Just think of how many girls would abandon their Daniel Craig/James Bond fantasies after that!

When Katie Holmes first collaborated with her stylist Jeanne Yang to design a gorgeous dress for last year’s Tropic Thunder premiere, and then again, creating a striking satin jumpsuit for her own Broadway debut, we had a feeling there was a line percolating.

And now, a rep for Katie confirms to People that a “line will be sold at Maxfield in the fall.” Katie and Jeanne are teaming up for a collection that will include women’s and children’s clothes, according to WWD, which also writes that the “premium designer” line will be full of classic fare and the children’s range is presumably inspired by Katie’s daughter Suri Cruise.

We can’t wait to see it!

Katie Holmes narrowly avoided serious injury after a car caught fire on a movie set.

The actress, who is currently on location in Australia filming ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’, was reportedly shooting a scene in the vehicle when the battery exploded last weekend.

Katie was left shaken after dashing from the car just before it burst into flames.

A source said: “Katie was inside a car when the vehicle’s battery exploded – it was sparking smoke and fumes before the car then caught fire. The exploding battery was not a part of the film.”

In ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’ – a remake of a 1973 TV movie – Katie plays a woman who is stalked by wicked gnomes.

Katie – who is married to Tom Cruise – has previously revealed she is excited about working on the new film.

She said: “I’m really enjoying it. The movie is really character-driven. It’s really her journey becoming a mother. In the midst of that, there are unexpected scares.”

Katie has been accompanied on her trip by her three-year-old daughter Suri.

It was recently claimed the 30-year-old actress splashed out £400 to ensure her child won’t miss their Los Angeles home too much.

Katie is believed to have treated the youngster to a bicycle, a ‘Dora the Explorer’ piano, a Barbie doll, luxury bed sheets, lavish home accessories and a selection of traditional board games.
