Katherine Heigl is making a serious effort to quit smoking after seven years, following in the footsteps of her close friend and Grey’s Anatomy co-star T.R. Knight, who stopped lighting up some time ago.
“Of course I support her,” T.R. told In Touch at a Point Foundation gala on September 13, though he adds that he didn’t nag her about it. “You have to be ready and find it in yourself.”
And Katherine, 29, definitely is. “It’s so stupid,” she has said. “I have to quit the old fashioned way.”
“I tried the patch [and] tried gum. I hate the gum. It burns my mouth,” Katherine once said about her previous efforts.

Katherine Heigl is a litterbug.
After lunching with her mom at P.F. Chang’s in Santa Monica recently, the actress had to sweet-talk her way out of a ticket for tossing her cigarette on the ground right in front of a policeman on a bike.
“The officer told Katherine to pick up the butt and throw it away in the trash, 10 feet away,” the source says. “He added that he’d fine her next time he catches her tossing trash on the sidewalk.”

Speak Up!: What do you think? Is Katherine Heigl Hot in Hollywood? I’m thinking she’s not looking so hot with that orange skin! (But I love the dress!)

Katherine Heigl has no plans to start a family with husband Josh Kelley just yet – because the pair is “too busy” to consider parenthood.
The Grey’s Anatomy star married singer/songwriter Kelley in December last year but the couple insist they are currently too focused with their careers to try for children.
Heigl tells People.com, “It’s nothing that we’re talking about right now. We’re pretty busy.”
And Kelley, 28, also claims his top priority is his music: “I’ve been trying to tour a little less. Basically by touring less, I’ve been making more music.”
