Last year’s Best Actress winner returns to present the 2010 award in shades of soft champagne in her bustier-topped YSL dress and $2.5 million Tiffany & Co. diamond necklace.

Score one for Kate Winslet.
BBC News reports that on Tuesday London’s High Court awarded the actress 25,000 British pounds (about $40,000 in American currency) in libel damages from the Daily Mail. The London newspaper had claimed that Winslet, 34, lied about her exercise routine and called her “the world’s most irritating actress.”
In May, the Oscar winner filed legal papers in response to a January article entitled “Should Kate Winslet win an Oscar for the world’s most irritating actress?” which she said “hurt and embarrassed” her.
The piece — which also featured naked photos of the star — took aim at a quote Winslet had given to Elle magazine, in which she described her workouts: “I don’t go to the gym because I don’t have time, but I do Pilates workout DVDs for 20 minutes or more every day at home.”
In a statement, Winslet said, “I was particularly upset to be accused of lying about my exercise regime and felt that I had a responsibility to request an apology in order to demonstrate my commitment to the views that I have always expressed about body issues, including diet and exercise.”
The wife of director Sam Mendes and mother of two added, “I strongly believe that women should be encouraged to accept themselves as they are, so to suggest that I was lying was an unacceptable accusation of hypocrisy.”
In 2003, British GQ published digitally enhanced photos of Winslet looking much thinner than her actual self; Winslet complained that the photos were changed without her approval, and the magazine issued an apology.

It was arguably the most undressed Oscar-winning role in movie history, but The Reader Best Actress Kate Winslet has nothing to hide.
“If people are noticing my boobs in a movie and saying they do what real boobs do, then that’s great,” the typically outspoken Winslet tells August’s Harper’s Bazaar, which also notes that Winslet’s bosom has even earned raves from Oprah Winfrey.
The TV queen told the actress on the air, “God bless your real breasts.”
But, as happens, all good things must come to an end. “I’ll be 34 in October. I can’t keep getting away with [nudity],” says Winslet. “There was so much of it in The Reader because the story required it, but people have seen enough of my bum and my boobs. I have to put them back.”
Harper’s also says Winslet’s legs may also face a similar expiration date – despite the good care that the star says she has always taken when it comes to herself.
“When everyone was out getting plastered, I didn’t do all of that. I was working. I was doing life,” says Winslet. “Now that I look back, I feel very lucky. I’ve never taken drugs, never been offered cocaine.”
Besides there are husband Sam Mendes and children Mia, 8, and Joe, 5, to consider.
“Romance to me is spontaneity,” Winslet insists. “It’s not diamond earrings; it’s a bunch of daffodils that’s freshly picked from the field. Or just a little thing like Sam calling me at three in the afternoon, saying, ‘I’m coming home now. I’m done for the day.’ It’s romantic because he just thought, ‘I’ll go home. I want to be with Kate and the kids.’ ”

Kate Winslet tells Allure in the June issue that when filming “The Reader,” she had to grow in the hair “down there,” so to speak.
She tells Allure, “because of years of waxing, as all of us girls know, it doesn’t come back quite the way it used to. They even made me a merkin (wig) because they were so concerned that I might not be able to grow enough.”
Alrighty then!

Kate Winslet holds on tight to her Best Actress Oscar, LA. The actress was seen in Hollywood going into a studio the morning after the big event. Kate looked happy as she grasped on tight to her award for her performance in ‘The Reader’ LA.

I have to start out by admitting that I never actually made it to see Milk. I’m sure it’s amazing, and I’m sure Sean Penn deserved it. But did he deserve it over Mickey Rourke? Mickey Rourke gave the performance of a lifetime! How could he have lost!!
Were you shocked with any of the awards? I have to admit, I was surprised that Penelope Cruz got it…I sort of thought Marisa Tomei would get it.
PS: Wasn’t the Oscars amazing this year? I loved the whole thing! I thought Hugh Jackman did an amazing job! What did you think?
