DWTS Judge to Kate Gosselin: You’re “Terrible”

Well, Kate Gosselin wasn’t the lowest-scoring contestant on Monday’s Dancing With the Stars’ season-10 premiere.

She was the third lowest.

The 34-year-old reality mom and pro partner Tony Dovolani garnered 16 points out of a possible 30; only All My Children star Aiden Turner and 80-year-old astronaut Buzz Aldrin scored lower, with 15 and 14 points respectively.

Dressed in a sparkly, light-pink gown, Gosselin did the Viennese Waltz with Dovolani to Billy Joel’s “Always a Woman.” (A classic guy’s ballad about a strong-willed, difficult girlfriend.)

When the highly-anticipated number was done, judge Len Goodman surmised, “the first dance is like your first date…You looked nervous. You didn’t come out and just dance with any fluidity.” For her performance next week, he urged her to “enjoy the experience.”

High-strung judge Bruno Tonioli was blunter. “The technique was terrible,” he said as Gosselin listened with a stoic, tight-lipped expression. “It looked like Tony was pushing a shopping cart across the floor. You have to exude something!” he implored.

Carrie Ann Inaba added kindly, “you’re very different than a lot of the other people on the show,” noting that most DWTS contestants, unlike the former nurse, are athletes or performers. But she praised Gosselin, too. “There’s a sweet vulnerability to what you do. You have an honesty that resonates with people.”

After receiving her low marks backstage, Gosselin told new host Brooke Burke that she was “honored to be here, glad that it’s over and glad that my kids can rest easy tonight.”

Before their performance began, rehearsal footage — some that appeared to be in her family’s Wernersville, Penn. basement, others in L.A. — showed Gosselin struggling with her nerves.

“She has to communicate enjoyment in order for this performance to work,” Dovolani admitted to the cameras. He tells her, “I’m like, ‘okay, does she want to be here?”

“The excitement is somewhere underneath all the insecurities,” Gosselin said. “Hang in there with me.”

Also battling novice-dancer jitters: The Bachelor’s Jake Pavelka. “I don’t think I’m a great dancer,” the 32-year-old pilot said forlornly during rehearsals. “I come in here and feel dumb every day.”

But Pavelka and partner Chelsie Hightower fared better than Gosselin with their Viennese waltz (to the Bachelor-esque song “Kiss From a Rose”), scoring a 20. Len Goodman advised him to “stop sticking your bum out.” Bruno Tolioni called the number “a little rough..Don’t bash her about all the time!”

Pavelka’s fiancee Vienna Girardi applauded his routine in the audience, and Brooke Burke asked how dancing on live TV compared to his on-air proposal. “Proposing to Vienna was the honor of my life,” he gushed. “But this is scary!” Girardi’s seat companion: Gia Allemand, the third-place finisher for Pavelka’s hand on The Bachelor.

Dressed in hot-pink, Pam Anderson got a “sexy, sexy and more sexy!” rave from Tolioni for her cha-cha-cha with newcomer Damian Whitewood, scoring 21 total points.

The night’s top-scoring contestant was Pussycat Dolls’ Nicole Scherzinger, who nabbed 25 points dancing the waltz with Derek Hough. “I haven’t seen a routine out of the gate like that, ever,” Inaba gushed.

Will callers and texters support Kate or Jake? The first round of eliminations doesn’t begin until next week.

DWTS’ Kate Gosselin: I Wake Up in “a Cold Sweat” Every Night

Kate Gosselin — who makes her Dancing With the Stars debut tonight — is beginning to wonder why she agreed to hit the dance floor in the first place.

“I wake up in a cold sweat every night,” the mother of eight, 34, tells USA Today. “What have I signed up for?”

Gosselin, who has zero dance experience, has been practicing with partner Tony Dovolani on a makeshift dance floor in the basement of her family’s Wernersville, Pa., home.

“Never danced in public,” she says. “It’s a huge fear.” Overall, her goal is “to conquer my fear of dancing. It’s hugely scary.”

Her toughest competition? “Me. I struggle with perfection,” she says. “While it’s fun, I’m frustrated. Tony has to tell me to stop being so hard on myself.”

So far, she’s had no major ailments, but she says: “There’s a sharp pain behind my right rib.”

Last week, Gosselin denied rumors she was being a diva on the Los Angeles set and defended her decision to do the show (critics have said she should be spending more time at home with her kids).

Gosselin said doing the show and being a mom is “a delicate balance” and that she is usually dancing “before [the kids] are up in the morning or at school.”

She added, “I’m making the best of it.”

Kate Gosselin: The Dancing Diva?

According to sources, Kate Gosselin is acting like a “total diva” on the set of Dancing With the Stars, Page Six reports. She’s reportedly been behaving coldly towards the crew and isolating herself from other contestants.

Kate’s attitude has even caused Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir to stop talks on being on the show, Page Six reports. He apparently didn’t want to work with Kate.

“Kate doesn’t want anything to do with other contestants … While there’s a lot of camaraderie among the crew and other stars including Pamela Anderson, Kate has set herself apart… She wants to be queen bee,” a DWTS source said.

The mother of eights rep get back to Page Six, but a show source said, “She’s been rehearsing in Pennsylvania to be near her kids. For the short time she was in LA, she and the cast got along great.

The new season of DWTS starts March 22.

Kate Gosselin’s Kids “Depressed” She’s Away So Much for DWTS

Dancing with the Stars contestant Kate Gosselin has gone Hollywood — and her eight kids back home in Wernersville, Penn. don’t like it one bit.

Less than three months after Kate and Jon Gosselin’s divorce was finalized, their 9-year-old twins and 5-year-old sextuplets are struggling with even more upheaval: DWTS has their mom 2400 miles away for at least three days a week.

In fact, as she trained and promoted her DWTS stint (the show debuts March 22), Kate, 34, spent Feb. 21 to March 5 away from the kids, a source confirms in the new issue of Us Weekly.

Minded by five nannies in her absence, the kids “were asking, ‘When is Mommy coming home?’” an insider tells Us.

Twins Cara and Maddy “seem depressed when Kate isn’t around,” another source says. Five-year old sons Aaden, Collin and Joel, meanwhile, “got into trouble at school for talking back to teachers,” adds the source.

But their mom, who “wants to be a huge star,” justifies her work with a surprising comparison — to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie!

“She says Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have lots of kids and their parents are away for long periods, working to support them,” a family insider tells Us.

DWTS’ Tony Dovolani: Kate Gosselin Is “Definitely Not the Best Dancer”

With Dancing With the Stars rehearsals underway, how is Kate Gosselin doing so far?

“She’s definitely not the best dancer,” her partner Tony Dovolani told UsMagazine.com Thursday at the NYC premiere of the Discovery Channel’s Life. “She’s never taken a step of dancing in her life, but she’s very hard-working. She’s willing to try everything. So, for me, it’s like I have an empty canvas that I can create a masterpiece. It’s a great opportunity to show America what I’m capable of – which is teaching somebody who has never danced before.”

He said they are worried about the competition, which includes Olympic figure skating champion Evan Lysacek.

“We have some serious front runners,” Dovolani told Us. “I told her right from the start, ‘Kate, this is not going to be easy.’ She’s ready for it.”

On Friday, he said they’ll begin rehearsing on a makeshift dance floor in the basement of her $1.1 million home in Wernersville, Pa.

If she sticks to rehearsals, “I think she’s going to do incredible,” Dovolani told Us. “I’ve never seen anybody be as driven as she is. When she comes in, whether it’s five hours or six hours of rehearsal, it’s pretty intense the entire time. It’s about learning and learning and learning.”

So does he think they have a shot at the trophy this year?

“I always think I have a shot,” he told Us. “There’s never a season I enter and I don’t think I have a shot. I approach everybody the same. If they are willing, it’s possible. The most talented people in the world normally don’t win and they’re the hardest workers.”

Gosselin told Us that being on the show is “the chance of a lifetime. I feel honored that I get that privilege.”
