Kate Gosselin was frightened watching herself on DWTS

Cue the scary music!

When Kate Gosselin sat down to watch herself on Dancing with the Stars‘ elimination night this week, she says she saw someone playing the victim in a slasher film rather than a ballroom dancer.

“I’ve been told by more than one person … that on the night of the first DWTS elimination, the expression on my face looked like something out of a horror movie,” Gosselin, 35, writes on her blog on TLC’s Web site. “I didn’t realize this, obviously, until I saw it for myself … and even I was a bit frightened.”

The reality star says she’s glad her eight little ones were already tucked in and didn’t see the terrified look on her face, or they would have been spooked.

“Thank goodness my kids were in bed that night,” she writes. “I didn’t want them to watch just in case I was eliminated, but I had no idea I was inadvertently saving them from nightmares. All joking aside, I WAS scared to death!”

As it turned out, Gosselin was spared, and Charmed actress Shannen Doherty and her partner Mark Ballas got a ticket home instead.

“I know that I am still a contestant on DWTS solely because of my fans,” Gosselin writes. “I have met many of you recently, while grocery shopping, at Target or in airports. I have a few words to my fans: Thank you all for your support, love, obsessive votes and verbal encouragement. I am seriously blown away by each and every one of you!!!!”

Kate Gosselin Halted Practice for 90-Minute Mani-Pedi

Kate Gosselin and Tony Dovolani may be trying to get along after their tense, disastrous first two weeks on Dancing with the Stars — but it’s not easy, an insider says in the new issue of Us Weekly.

“Tony wants to practice all day, but Kate takes too many breaks,” the source says. On March 26, for instance, Dovolani had to twiddle his thumbs while Gosselin, 35, spent 90 minutes getting a mani-pedi; the reality mom also takes frequent time-outs to hit the tanning salon.

Adds the source: “Tony is getting tired of her attitude.”

In this new video, Us Weekly’s Senior Editor Bradley Jacobs breaks down some of the top feature stories in the new issue. In addition to the DWTS drama, there’s an in-depth look at Kim Kardashian’s recent split with Reggie Bush. “Kim is not crying or sad,” a pal says, adding that things didn’t feel right when they reunited last fall. “It wasn’t the same. She knew it was over.”

And, of course, more on Sandra Bullock and Jesse James: her determination to file for divorce — and retain an active role in the life of Sunny, her 6-year-old stepdaughter.

How Kate Gosselin’s Latest DWTS Rehearsal Is Going

After a rocky rehearsal spat in which Tony Dolovani quit on Kate Gosselin, he says things are going much better this week.

“I just got done with our first practice,” he Twittered Wednesday. “The Paso is going great :-)

Despite two terrible performances (one judge called Gosselin, 35, a “nightmare” on the dance floor), she and Dolovani, 36, managed to survive the first round.

To make it to finals, he recently told Access Hollywood that she needs to trust him more.

She is slowly coming around.

“She’s starting to understand regardless of how tough I may be … I’m on her side,” he said. “I’m actually trying to make her look good … I’m not actually going against her. I’m not trying to cause any problems for her. All I’m trying to do is make her look good.”

Gosselin said that despite Dolovani being a “great” teacher, they are bound to clash occasionally.

“He has as much pressure as a teacher as I have as a student,” she told Access. “It’s a hard, hard thing.”

Kate Gosselin on DWTS Results Show: I Was Going to “Throw Up”

Kate Gosselin is breathing a heavy sigh of relief that she wasn’t the first to go on Dancing With the Stars Tuesday night (sadly, 90210 alum Shannen Doherty was).

“I don’t think I breathed for 10 minutes, and I don’t think that’s humanely possible,” the reality TV mom, 35, told Entertainment Tonight after the show. “I also thought I was going to throw up at the end. My gosh, that is just pure torture, is it not?”

Following low scores and rumors of on-set diva behavior, Gosselin — who famously sparred with partner Tony Dolovani during a recent rehearsal — figured her dancing days were done. “She definitely thought she was going home, for sure,” professional dancer Edyta Sliwinska told UsMagazine.com after the show.

Added Louis van Amstel: “We all did.”

“She was definitely stressed out,” Anna Trebunskaya said of Gosselin. “[Evan Lysacek and I] got lucky because they announced us around the middle, but she had to wait and wait and stand in that red light. That is the worst.”

After Gosselin learned she was safe, “the expression on her face changed just like that,” Buzz Aldrin told Us. “Amazing.”

Pro: Kate Gosselin Will Be “First to Go” on DWTS

Who will win Dancing With the Stars this season?

Professional choreographers Dan Karaty and Stacey Tookey agree: Nicole Scherzinger.

“I will be shocked if Nicole doesn’t win,” Karaty, who has worked with Jessica Simpson and Sarah Jessica Parker, tells UsMagazine.com about the Pussycat Doll, who earned the high score of 25 points out of 30. “As expected, she gave a great performance and she is far and away the best celebrity dancer out there.”

Tookey, who counts Madonna as one of her clients, says Scherzinger has a “huge advantage” as a pop performer.

“She has experience learning choreography and is extremely comfortable on stage,” Tookey tells Us. “Nicole and Derek Hough’s performance was hands down the best of the evening!”

As for who Scherzinger’s top competition may be, Tookey thinks Pamela Anderson (21 points) and Olympic figure skater Evan Lysacek (23 points) will make it to the finals.

“Although Evan needs a lot of work in terms of personality, his dancing was very good,” Tookey says.

Karaty even thinks Bachelor Jake Pavelka (20 points) may go far “because his partner, Chelsie Hightower, will get him through.”

In terms of partner chemistry, Karaty also enjoyed watching Maksim Chmerkovskiy and sportscaster Erin Andrews (21 points), who “had a connection that everyone could feel.”

Despite 80-year-old Buzz Aldrin’s lowest score of the night (14 points), the worst dancer — and the star both pros predict will be the first voted off the hit ABC show — was Kate Gosselin.

“Kate delivered the most embarrassing performance of the night,” Karaty tells Us. “She showed zero ability, will or desire. She needs to go.”

Tookey commends the mother of eight for her “courage and effort” but adds she was “completely unnatural and uncomfortable the whole time” and has “no doubt” she’ll be the first to go.

Karina Smirnoff on Kate Gosselin: I Totally Understand Her

Karina Smirnoff was recently seen at Yotam Solomon Presents the Native American Collection Fall/Winter 2010 in Hollywood where she confessed to OK! that she hasn’t completely left Dancing With the Stars, so we had to ask — what does she think about Kate Gosselin?

“To be honest, I totally understand what she is doing,” Karina told OK!.

Karina thinks it’s good for the mom of eight to have something else to do.

“She is home and she has a lot of kids to take care of and for her to come and get her hair done and her makeup done and all of that is fun and she can do something other than being a mom, which is great,” Karina shared with OK!.

But, it’s a balance.

“As long as she can combine being a mom with Dancing with the Stars,” she explained, “that’s great.”

DWTS Judge to Kate Gosselin: You’re “Terrible”

Well, Kate Gosselin wasn’t the lowest-scoring contestant on Monday’s Dancing With the Stars’ season-10 premiere.

She was the third lowest.

The 34-year-old reality mom and pro partner Tony Dovolani garnered 16 points out of a possible 30; only All My Children star Aiden Turner and 80-year-old astronaut Buzz Aldrin scored lower, with 15 and 14 points respectively.

Dressed in a sparkly, light-pink gown, Gosselin did the Viennese Waltz with Dovolani to Billy Joel’s “Always a Woman.” (A classic guy’s ballad about a strong-willed, difficult girlfriend.)

When the highly-anticipated number was done, judge Len Goodman surmised, “the first dance is like your first date…You looked nervous. You didn’t come out and just dance with any fluidity.” For her performance next week, he urged her to “enjoy the experience.”

High-strung judge Bruno Tonioli was blunter. “The technique was terrible,” he said as Gosselin listened with a stoic, tight-lipped expression. “It looked like Tony was pushing a shopping cart across the floor. You have to exude something!” he implored.

Carrie Ann Inaba added kindly, “you’re very different than a lot of the other people on the show,” noting that most DWTS contestants, unlike the former nurse, are athletes or performers. But she praised Gosselin, too. “There’s a sweet vulnerability to what you do. You have an honesty that resonates with people.”

After receiving her low marks backstage, Gosselin told new host Brooke Burke that she was “honored to be here, glad that it’s over and glad that my kids can rest easy tonight.”

Before their performance began, rehearsal footage — some that appeared to be in her family’s Wernersville, Penn. basement, others in L.A. — showed Gosselin struggling with her nerves.

“She has to communicate enjoyment in order for this performance to work,” Dovolani admitted to the cameras. He tells her, “I’m like, ‘okay, does she want to be here?”

“The excitement is somewhere underneath all the insecurities,” Gosselin said. “Hang in there with me.”

Also battling novice-dancer jitters: The Bachelor’s Jake Pavelka. “I don’t think I’m a great dancer,” the 32-year-old pilot said forlornly during rehearsals. “I come in here and feel dumb every day.”

But Pavelka and partner Chelsie Hightower fared better than Gosselin with their Viennese waltz (to the Bachelor-esque song “Kiss From a Rose”), scoring a 20. Len Goodman advised him to “stop sticking your bum out.” Bruno Tolioni called the number “a little rough..Don’t bash her about all the time!”

Pavelka’s fiancee Vienna Girardi applauded his routine in the audience, and Brooke Burke asked how dancing on live TV compared to his on-air proposal. “Proposing to Vienna was the honor of my life,” he gushed. “But this is scary!” Girardi’s seat companion: Gia Allemand, the third-place finisher for Pavelka’s hand on The Bachelor.

Dressed in hot-pink, Pam Anderson got a “sexy, sexy and more sexy!” rave from Tolioni for her cha-cha-cha with newcomer Damian Whitewood, scoring 21 total points.

The night’s top-scoring contestant was Pussycat Dolls’ Nicole Scherzinger, who nabbed 25 points dancing the waltz with Derek Hough. “I haven’t seen a routine out of the gate like that, ever,” Inaba gushed.

Will callers and texters support Kate or Jake? The first round of eliminations doesn’t begin until next week.

Tell Us: what’d you think of the first night of performances?
