Maksim: Kate Gosselin Doesn’t “Get the Point” of DWTS

In the new issue of Us Weekly, a Dancing with the Stars insider reveals Kate Gosselin’s first choice for pro partner: Maksim Chmerkovskiy. “She wishes she had been partnered with Maks because he’s a stronger personality [than Tony Dovolani], and Kate likes a man who takes charge.”

A crew source counters: “Kate would have lasted about five minutes with Maks.”

Well, Dovolani has Chmerkovskiy’s admiration — and sympathy? — for taking on the 35-year-old reality mom. “I admire Tony,” Maks wrote Friday on his TV Guide blog. “Not just because he’s my friend.”

The dancer explains: “I’ve spoken to Kate, and I don’t think she gets the point of this thing yet. The pain on her face says it all, which is unfortunate.”

Gosselin scored a low score of 15 points — and lots of jeers from the judges — last week for her paso doble routine set to Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi.”

“The show is about finding a way to come out, enjoy yourself and have fun,” Maksim writes. Of Gosselin and Dovolani’s fiery relationship, he writes, “We were taught to respect our teachers, so as teachers, we expect to be respected by our students. Kate needs to trust him. However lifeless that paso was, he had her ready with the routine.”

Last week, Gosselin complained to E! News that it has been”very difficult” to focus, especially with a new custody lawsuit filed by her ex Jon Gosselin. “I can’t put my life aside and dance for six hours a day.”

But Chmerkovskiy implores her to try and do just that. “It’s a chance for her to focus on something other than personal drama. How many women with multiple kids sit back and reminisce about the days they could go and dance when they watch our show? How many people vicariously live through us? You need to enjoy it.”

Insider: Tony “Can’t Wait to Get Rid of” Kate on DWTS

Forget Tony Dovolani’s brave face and chirpy public support of Dancing with the Stars partner Kate Gosselin.

Behind the scenes, “he can’t wait to get rid of her, even if it means losing early,” a show insider says in the new issue of Us Weekly, out now.

Last week’s fiery clip of the the duo struggling to rehearse and get along (Dovolani threatened to quit) is only the tip of the iceberg, multiple sources say.

According to one, the “argumentative” reality mom, 35, snapped at Dovolani, 36, during a particularly frustrating practice at her Pennsylvania home: “I’m the reason anyone knows your name,” she spat, “so give me a break!”

Gosselin has even commanded that Dovolani enter her house through the basement door, rather than the front entrance. “She says it’s quicker, but she’s just showing him she’s the boss,” a Gosselin source says.

“They hate each other,” a DWTS insider says. “Backstage, she will back him into a wall to talk, and he won’t listen or look at her.”

Dovolani hasn’t kept quiet about the friction, either. The dancer “complains to producers about how impossible she is. He doesn’t want to be around her unless he has to,” a source recounts.

Adds another, “Not only is Kate the worst dancer, but she’s nasty. It’s an ongoing joke how Tony got the short end of the stick when he was assigned to Kate.”

Kate Gosselin Lands Her Own TLC Show

Get ready for even more Kate Gosselin.

The reality mom of eight, 35, is headlining her own TLC series, Twist of Kate, the network announced Thursday.

The 12 episodes, which begin airing this summer, won’t feature her ex- husband Jon, who is currently suing her for sole custody of their kids. Instead, they’ll center on Kate using “fan letters from women inspired by her story as the basis for profiles of women facing their own challenges,” reports USA Today.

“I look at it as a loose concept,” she tells the paper. “I want to be out there learning from others, helping to provide insight whenever I can, though I don’t consider myself an expert on anything.”

According to USA Today, Kate will even visit the homes and workplaces of everyday people. (Late last year, a camera crew was spotted filming Kate as she worked at a local restaurant in Raleigh, NC.)

Says TLC chief Eileen O’Neill: “She will be in that person’s shoes. And more often than not, it’s not going to be terribly comfortable for her. She’s game for things, but she also has limits and boundaries.”

Kate currently competes on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars. Though she has been getting negative reviews from judges, she is attracting viewers (the show recently beat American Idol two weeks in a row).

“The fact that people really support me and want the kids and I to do well … is flattering,” she tells USA Today. “I never understood the importance of fans until we struggled and went through tough times.”

Hugh Hefner on Kate Gosselin in Playboy: “Uh, I don’t think so”

Who wants to see Kate Gosselin strip down for Playboy?

Not Hugh Hefner, that’s for sure.

“No! No!” Hef said when E! asked him about the possibility of the controversial reality television mom posing in the pages of the legendary men’s magazine.

In fact, Hefner doesn’t understand why Gosselin is even on Dancing With the Stars…”I don’t think she’s a celebrity,” he said.

Former girlfriend Kendra Wilkinson-Baskett, however, is another story.

“It’s wonderful how the fans have embraced her,” Hef said. “We watch her show religiously. It’s just wonderful. Now there’s somebody who really became a celebrity.”

Kendra was at the Playboy Mansion for Easter with hubby Hank and their baby son. “Hank was too young for the easter egg hunt but he was sooooo excited to pet the animals in the petting zoo,” Kendra blogged earlier today.

Hef was sad to hear that former Playmate of the Year Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey have split. “I’m stunned about it,” he said. “I love Jenny. I really thought they would be together forever…I hope they get back together.”

DWTS Judge: Kate Gosselin Is “Crap”

Dancing With the Stars judge Bruno Tonioli has even harsher words for Kate Gosselin.

“Kate is pretty dreadful,” he said Wednesday on Lopez Tonight. “She’s crap — but in a nice way. She is entertaining. People like disaster movies. We’ve got our own disaster movie there everyday. 2012 is nothing compared to the catastrophe she produces.”

But he praised Gosselin, 35, for being “a tough cookie. She gets it in the face, she comes back and she tries to get better.”

Sadly, he added, “it doesn’t really work.”

(He isn’t hard on all the contestants, however. Though he initially thought Pamela Anderson was “going to be terrible,” he said she “actually comes out and delivers a performance full of content and she works very, very hard, and she is good at it.”)

Gosselin, who has survived two DWTS rounds so far despite disastrous dance routines, says in Thursday’s USA Today that she doesn’t think the judges have been fair. “But it’s their option to say what they’re going to say,” she says.

The mother of eight says she is extra appreciative of her fans. “The fact that people really support me and want the kids and I to do well … is flattering,” she says. “I never understood the importance of fans until we struggled and went through tough times.”

“She acts like a major celebrity,” a production source tells Us Weekly. It’s a joke with the cast, like, ‘Oh, look out — the bodyguard is watching!’”

She also hasn’t bothered getting to know any of the other contestants either. Says an insider, “When she is getting her hair done, she is on her BlackBerry the whole time… [she] is not making herself likable.”

Still, pro dancer Derek Hough defends Gosselin.

“If anyone is allowed to be stressed, it’s Kate,” he tells Us. “She is so out of her element. She can act any way she wants, in my book.”

Jon Gosselin sues Kate Gosselin for custody of their kids.

From TMZ:

Jon Gosselin has just filed legal papers formally asking a Pennsylvania judge for primary custody of the 8 kids he had with Kate Gosselin.

Jon also wants the child support order that is currently in place reviewed by the judge. Jon claims the arbitrator in the divorce “failed to take into consideration the numerous factors provided for by the law in PA.”

TMZ broke the story that Jon’s lawyer, Anthony F. List, feels Kate is an “absentee mom” now that she is in Hollywood on “Dancing with the Stars.”

Kate currently has primary custody and Jon is required to pay $20,000 a month in child support.

Here’s my opinion. Kate says she has to work to support her family. This is why she says she took the DWTS job – to support her family. My question is – how does $20,000 in child support NOT support her children? How much money does she need!? I think that she should have never gone on the show, she does seem like a fame-hungry person to me. If she was really worried about her kids welfare, she’d quit everything else – and just be with them, and live off the $20,000 checks she gets every month from Jon.

I think the 8 children should be given to the Duggar family, what’s 8 more kids? Imagine the ratings!

Kate Gosselin Acts Like “Major Celebrity” on DWTS; Demands Bodyguard

Kate Gosselin is so standoffish on Dancing With the Stars, she has show staffers contact her through her bodyguard, reports the new issue of Us Weekly, on stands today.

“When the show needs to contact Kate, they go through Steve,” a production source tells Us, adding that having personal security is not the norm for any of the other star competitors. “She acts like a major celebrity. It’s a joke with the cast, like, ‘Oh, look out — the bodyguard is watching!’”

And it’s not just any bodyguard.

Gosselin, 35, travels between her $1.1 million home in Pennsylvania and DWTS’ Los Angeles set with Steve Neild — with whom she’s been accused of having an affair by her estranged husband Jon. (Both Kate and the married Neild have denied infidelity.)

In fact, an insider tells Us that Gosselin and Neild even stay in adjoining hotel rooms in L.A.

Gosselin — who was criticized as looking like a “super bitch from hell” during last Monday’s dance — hasn’t bothered getting to know any of the other contestants either.

“When she is getting her hair done, she is on her BlackBerry the whole time… [she] is not making herself likable,” another insider says, adding that the type-A mom of twins Mady and Cara, 9, and sextuplets Aaden, Alexis, Collin, Hannah, Joel and Leah, has not been invited out to any of the cast’s Monday postshow afterparties.

“If she tagged along, they wouldn’t ask her to leave, but they wouldn’t be overjoyed either. She’s not much fun,” a production source says.

Still, pro dancer Derek Hough defends Gosselin.

“If anyone is allowed to be stressed, it’s Kate,” he tells Us. “She is so out of her element. She can act any way she wants, in my book.”
