After five brutal weeks of dancing, Kate Gosselin was sent home packing on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars Tuesday.
The reality star, 35, and partner Tony Dolovani — who had the lowest score, 15, on Monday’s show — were in the bottom two along with Pamela Anderson and her partner Damian Whitewood.
When Gosselin’s name was announced, she was speechless.
“I need a minute,” she said as she wiped tears from her eyes.
Dolovani, 36, then spoke.
Despite off-camera spats, he said he was “proud of Kate. I know she gets a lot of criticism out there … She has eight kids and is a single mom … she showed up every single day. I thought [she] danced beautifully.”
Gosselin then composed herself and said her ousting was “ok. I am very honored to have been here … It was a good experience.”
She added, “I cannot wait to watch the rest of these people perform Monday … I’ve really grown to love everyone.”
She finally thanked her fans for voting for her despite low scores from the judges.
Said Gosselin, “Thank you for believing in me probably more than I believed in myself.”
Looking back, she said, “I was scared to death most of time I had to be out [on the dance floor]. It’s so much more than I thought. It takes a lot.”

As tough as it’s been for Kate Gosselin to please the Dancing with the Stars judges, she says there are no downsides to joining the show.
“There were no cons,” she told Ryan Seacrest Monday during an interview on his 102.7 KIIS FM radio show. “I figured they’ll whip my body into shape when I needed it. The pros were — I still don’t know how to dance, but I was hoping I would learn how to dance.”
Despite consistently low scores from the panel, Gosselin has managed to escape elimination. The same cannot be said, however, about the occasional clash with her partner, Tony Dovolani.
“That’s the law across the board with all dancers,” she told Seacrest of her and Dovolani’s spats. “I asked for somebody who would push me really, really hard because I need that. I have a lot of distraction in my life … We can’t just dance we have to dance with all the drama.”
Though she says she’d trade places with her babysitter “in a micro-millisecond” to be home with her kids rather than learning to tango, Gosselin faces the same dilemma as other single moms. “You have to be at work because you have to provide for your kids,” she says, “but really my heart is at home with them.”
Luckily, her eight children support her decision to do Dancing. “This is the first and only thing I have ever done that my kids care about,” Gosselin said. “It pushes me on to do better, to stay on the show, to get voted through because, honestly, they count down the days until Monday.”
And Gosselin is sharing the experience with another working mom on the show — her competitor, Pamela Anderson. “We sit in the hair and makeup chair next to each other and talk about our kids. She’s awesome,” she says. “I have gotten to know the Pam that is just a mom that drops her kids off at school. She’s given me advice about what it’s like to be a single mom.”

When asked if she was surprised to still be on “Dancing with the Stars,” Kate says: “I am. I’m surprised. Let’s be honest, I’d love to go to the end.”
When asked about her thoughts when she heard Jon Gosselin had filed for primary custody of their eight children and wanted to lower his child support payments, Kate says: “I’m not really willing to discuss it. All I can say is that I conduct my actions at all times appropriately.”
Regarding being characterized as an “evil mommy,” Gosselin says: “That’s the most hurtful thing out of everything. Pretty much all that crap out there that you’re reading is untrue, and that’s the one that hurts me the most.”
When asked what she’d tell the younger version of herself, she says: “I’d say brace yourself. Yeah. Brace yourself, it’s gonna be a crazy life.”
Kate dismisses rumors that she’s moving to Los Angeles: “Can’t so much afford a house here, love the weather. Don’t have a job here. Have eight kids who are happy and healthy in their home and their school, that’s not happening.”

It’s a rare moment when Kate Gosselin didn’t have an answer.
The reality star and I Just Want You to Know: Letters to My Kids on Love, Faith and Family author was asked by Jay Leno on Thursday’s The Tonight Show what her ex, Jon, does for a living. Her reply? “I don’t know.” Then Leno tried again, asking if Jon currently has a job. Gosselin’s reply this time? “Not that I’m aware of.”
Meanwhile, Gosselin has been under fire from her ex for allegedly not spending enough time with their eight children. That’s a claim Leno said he “doesn’t quite get,” noting, “it seems to me most single moms work at least eight to 10 hours a day, which is what you’re doing.”
Facing a custody battle with Jon, Gosselin continued, “I feel like I say this a lot, and for whatever reason I feel like I have to defend myself. But the truth is, moms work. Single moms work. I travel and work – that’s my job.”
One area in which Gosselin isn’t defending herself: her skills on Dancing With the Stars.
Leno attributed the show’s current popularity to the “Kate Effect,” to which Gosselin said, “I don’t know if I can take total credit for that. They’re probably just tuning in to see if I fall.”

After an emotional goodbye to soap star Aiden Turner on Tuesday’s Dancing With The Stars, Kate Gosselin and partner Tony Dovolani told People they have found more than their tango to bond over: It’s difficult for both to be away from their kids.
Dovolani says that traveling between L.A. and Pennsylvania, where Gosselin lives and rehearses, has meant that he only sees his daughter Luana, 4, and twins Adrian and Ariana, 2, for a couple of hours a week. “It’s not easy,” says the dancer, whose wife Lina stays at home in Connecticut. “I can talk to my daughter on the phone … I don’t quite understand all the conversations we have, but as long as she hears my voice, she’s knows I’m there.”
The silver lining: parents who sympathize may be key to their success. “I think it’s moms and women,” Gosselin says of their supporters. “The fan base is [ages] 2 to 102. I imagine it’s people who believe in me more than I believe in myself. And the people who think Tony is good looking and love his abs!”

Jon Gosselin’s lawyer, former assistant U.S. Attorney Anthony F. List, tells TMZ “under the right circumstances” Jon would do a show with Kate, but “the contract would have to be tighter.” He did not elaborate, but we’re guessing it has something to do with the way TLC cleaned Jon’s clock in court.
List did not say what type of show he’d like to do, but said having Jon and Kate around the kids more would be a definite plus.
List says Jon would “love to settle” the latest legal dispute he ignited. TMZ broke the story that Jon filed legal papers asking for primary custody and child support. But Jon will press on with the case, unless Kate gives up her “global commitments.” According to List, Jon feels Kate can’t have it both ways — being both a star and an attentive parent.
List says he and Jon both feel Kate is “addicted to the paparazzi.” He says even if Kate is booted from “Dancing with the Stars” on Tuesday, he won’t drop his custody case because Kate is “caught up in the glamour of Hollywood” and will take other jobs.
Now if Kate brings Jon along for the Hollywood tour, well apparently that’s a whole other Oprah.
