Kate Beckinsale is honored her father Richard remains a revered actor in her native England - because it helps her remember him.
The late actor, star of British sitcoms Porridge and Rising Damp, was just 31 when he suffered a massive heart attack in his sleep - leaving his wife, actress Judy Loe, to bring up a then five-year-old Kate.
And the Underworld star insists she is grateful to Britain for keeping his memory alive - since she has little recollection of her dad.
She says, “I do have memories, but when you’re that young, you’re not really at the conversational stage of a relationship. He’s still such a huge figure in England, which I find moving and impressive all these years later, but at the time, I used to get him confused with both God and John Lennon because John Lennon died a couple of years later, and I remember getting the whole thing a bit mixed up.”

Kate Beckinsale avoided her own daughter on the set of her latest film Snow Angels, because the traumatic storyline made her so upset.
The British beauty plays a single mother who has an affair with a married man in the upcoming film, leading to the mysterious disapperance of her daughter.
But the Underworld star became so wrapped up in the role, she had to hide from her own daughter Lily - so the nine-year-old wouldn’t catch her in a distressed state.
She tells U.K. magazine Closer, “It was too intense. I didn’t want Lily to see me in that state - it exhausted me on a psychological level.”

Kate Beckinsale was horrified by recent reports she is giving up raunchy film roles - insisting she still wants to be sexy onscreen.
The British actress, who romped nude in vampire movie Underworld, last month revealed she is embarrassed by some of the roles she has taken on.
She said, “The sex-bomb thing is totally fun but you want to take the red shoes off sometimes. I’ve been wanting to do something more dramatic.” But the 34-year-old insists that doesn’t mean she’s hanging up her sex symbol status for good.
Her publicist Leslie Sloane insists, “She welcomes playing a wide range of roles with good material - sexy, comedic, serious drama, etc.”

Kate Beckinsale is begging the producers of hit TV show 24 to hand her a role alongside its star Kiefer Sutherland.
The British actress is hooked on the real-time drama, and would love to play the head of the fictional Counter Terrorist Unit, and become the boss of Sutherland’s character Jack Bauer.
She says, “I’m compulsively addicted to 24. I love that show. Just hearing the music of it makes me feel so confident … (Maybe) I can be the head of CTU.”

“I spend 80 per cent of my time in my kitchen and occasionally I’m wheeled out to pretend to be Kate Beckinsale for awards shows.”
Actress Kate Beckinsale insists she’s not really a star.
I bet she’s a fabulous cook, though.
