Just two months after leaving American Idol (or being asked not to return), Kara DioGuardi is heading back to the judging table as the lead judge on Going Platinum, a new song-writing competition on Bravo. More from PEOPLE:
“Hit songs are the backbone of the music industry, and as a publisher, nothing excites me more than finding new songwriting talent,” DioGuardi says. “I am happy to be a part of a show that helps up and coming songwriters pursue their dreams, while giving the public a look into the creative process.”
Jewel will host the show and help judge the competition, along with a music executive and celebrity guests. Going Platinum starts taping this month and will premiere in 2011.
The show will follow 12 musicians as they write music and lyrics for different genres, from hip-hop to love songs to dance tracks. The winner will receive a $100,000 prize, as well as music-publishing and recording deals.
A source familiar with the show says it’s a good fit for DioGuardi because “at heart, she’s a songwriter. Idol was performance-driven. This isn’t just about finding the next big singer – it’s about finding a hit maker, and she loves to nurture talent.”

Fox was dirty in how they fired former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi. Wait ’til you find out how they let her go!
In all actuality, they really haven’t informed her formally that she’s been fired. When tabloids and newspapers ran with the story late last month, she wasn’t even contacted by Fox. What’s worse is that she found out when the story was printed in the newspaper!
“She read it the way you did and I did,” her dad, Republican senate candidate Joe DioGuardi, tells Capital Tonight (via The Hollywood Reporter). “Would you believe she did not hear — and still has not heard — anything?”
Fox has yet to confirm publicly the judge switchup, but multiple outlets began reporting the news on July 30.
Joe goes on, “Her disappointment is that that’s the way she’s being treated and she feels that’s not proper. I think they’re trying to create a lot of buzz… they’re trying to reformat the thing.”
That is really shady!!!

Looks like American Idol is going through some big changes! According to reports Kara DioGuardi has been fired from American Idol.
Rumors are circulating that now that DioGuardi is out and Ellen is out, the panel will return to three judges. The new judges possibly being Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and triple treat Jennifer Lopez.
Kara alway seem to give good advice, but never quite connected with the fans like Paula Abdul did. Here’s what she had to say about being on American Idol.
“It was pretty hellish,” she has admitted of her first season on the show. “Yeah, I got slagged. People were … it was difficult for them to accept the change. It was difficult for them to understand why somebody who nobody had ever heard of could kind of come out of nowhere and sit next to these iconic figures. You know, why was I there, what did I do to deserve to be there?”
But her second season was “easier,” she has said, “because I’m not as fearful as I was last year … For someone who’s never been on live television, it’s very, very challenging to go from the back of the studio to the No. 1 TV show, and that kind of visibility. And it was very, very, very scary.”
Will you be sad to see Kara go?

Kara DioGuardi has a new day job.
The American Idol judge and songwriter-producer is making like Ryan Seacrest and hitting the radio airwaves, launching her own Saturday show on Clear Channel’s L.A.-based 104.3 MYfm.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be on air giving my take on some of the great music out there,” she says.
Expect her take to include ample plays of Idol contestants and her own up-and-coming star, Jason Derulo.
DioGuardi’s show will air Saturdays from 2 to 6 p.m.

Katy Perry had so much fun as a bitchy guest judge on American Idol that she would quit her music career to take the job full-time.
The singer reportedly filmed her stint as a guest judge on the singing contest last year, following the departure of Paula Abdul. Her appearance aired on Tuesday night.
And, though she and regular judge Kara DioGuardi appeared to dislike one another, Perry isn’t about to let a clash of songwriters get in the way of her Idol ambition.
Now that music mogul Simon Cowell has announced he’s planning to leave the show when his current contract expires in May, the pop star wants to fill his seat.
She says, “The American Idol experience was awesome. If I was offered that job as a permanent host, I would ditch my career and take on that career.”
