Jude Law is reportedly in talks to star alongside Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie’s adaptation of Sherlock Holmes.

Law is touted to play Holmes’ sidekick Dr. Watson in the forthcoming film and is expected to sign up for the part shortly, according to Daily Variety.

Ritchie denied that Russell Crowe was lined up for the role after reports surfaced earlier this month.

Production on the movie is slated to begin in October in London.

Jude Law paid a visit to war torn Afghanistan to promote Peace Day – an annual day urging global cease fire and nonviolence on September 21st, USA Today reports.

“It seemed that they really want to make this day, the Peace Day, work. And they did,” Jude tells reporters.

“People recognize the day, because they recognize that lives could be saved.” Law is in Afghanistan with director Jeremy Gilley to help produce a documentary film, called The Day After Peace.

The United Nations General Assembly adopted Peace Day in 2001, following a lobbying campaign by Gilley. Law and Gilley started filming their documentary in Afghanistan last year.

Law said the documentary, which also features Angelina Jolie, the Dalai Lama, and Annie Lennox, is the most important film he has been apart of. On his experiences in Afghanistan, Law tells reporters, “When I left Kabul last year, I was hugely moved not by the conflict that I have read so much about, but by the people’s courage and the people’s sense of hope.”

Law and Gilley, who arrived in Kabul on Sunday, are to meet President Hamid Karzai, top NATO and U.N. officials, and members of the aid community.

But Jude Law and Lily Cole must have found some common ground.

The pair have been spotted in public together on several occasions recently.

First they attended a Radiohead concert in Victoria Park, Hackney, East London.

Then Law, 35, took the flame-haired model, 20, for a meal in Covent Garden, followed by a trip to the theatre.

They obviously hadn’t run out of things to talk about, for she went home with him, and did not emerge from his Maida Vale flat until the next afternoon.

Bare-legged and dishevelled, she walked to her car parked nearby and drove home. Law had emerged earlier in the morning to catch a flight to Los Angeles for a wedding.

Miss Cole, the face of M&S and Accessorize, is due to start at Cambridge in October. She has had a low-key lovelife until now.

Law’s relationships, on the other hand, have been well documented. He divorced Sadie Frost in 2003, and his engagement to Sienna Miller ended in 2006 after he cheated on her with his children’s nanny.

Most recently he was seen romancing Rod Stewart’s model daughter Kimberly, 28.

A spokesman for Law refused to comment.

Jude Law is reportedly romancing British model Lily Cole – who is 15 years his junior.

The Alfie star, 35, has previously been romantically linked to rocker Rod Stewart’s daughter Kimberly, but has been spotted with red-haired catwalk beauty Cole in recent weeks.

And their relationship appears to be hotting up, after Cole was snapped leaving Law’s London home on Saturday afternoon having apparently spent the night together.

They had enjoyed a romantic candle-lit meal together in the U.K. capital’s Covent Garden on Friday night, where onlookers said they were holding hands.

A source tells Britain’s Sunday Mirror newspaper, “Jude was keeping low-key. They were deep in conversation and making each other laugh. There was no blatant kissing but it was obvious they were more than just friends. Jude was being very affectionate and gazing into her eyes.”
