Johnny Depp exits his hotel in Puerto Rico ready for another day on the set of ‘The Rum Diary”. Playing a freelance journalist who finds himself at a critical turning point in his life while writing for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean. Johnny playing the part of Paul is challenged on many levels as he tries to carve out a more secure niche for himself amidst a group of lost souls all bent on self-destruction. Staying incognito and true to his funky style, Mr Depp is ultra cool in mirrored shades, Panama hat, and bandanna handkerchief! Maybe he is even channeling the late Hunter S. Thompson!

What do you think?

Heard that rumor about Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis getting married? Yeah, so has she. And no, it’s not true.
“Each summer people say we’re supposed to be getting married, but we don’t talk about it that much,” Paradis – Depp’s girlfriend of 10 years and the mother of his two children – tells the U.K. edition of Elle in its November issue. “He’s got me, and he knows he’s got me.”
Adds Paradis, 35: “I love the romance of ‘let’s get married,’ but then, when you have it so perfect … I mean, I’m more married than anybody can be – we have two kids [Jack, 6, and Lily Rose, 9]. Maybe one day, but it’s something I can really do without.”
When French singer-actress-model first met Depp, it was not quite love at first sight.
“We were in two different worlds – him in America, me in France – but we had friends in common,” explains the current face of Miu Miu. “We saw each other sometimes over the course of four years. But then, the day we found each other in Paris, we were both in the same world and free and it was just instant. There was no more time to waste – just no way around it.”
Asked if she’s “tamed” the Pirates of the Caribbean star, whose previous girlfriends include Kate Moss and Winona Ryder, Paradis says: “Tamed. What’s that? Like a lion? Noooo, no, we did it to each other. Maybe I’m a good girlfriend because I’m his girlfriend. I’m not sure I’d be a good girlfriend to anyone else; the same for him. It’s difficult to explain, but it’s something that’s natural, obvious and beautiful.”
What’s also natural: Women’s desire to mob Depp, 45. In fact, Paradis feels it herself. “I understand. I want to mob him all the time, I do,” she says. “He’s a very charming person.”

Proving actors are grossly overpaid…
Disney has offered Johnny Depp $55 million to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a 4th Pirates of the Caribbean film, according to Bill Zwecker of the Chicago Sun-Times. That payday surpasses the previous Hollywood record for a single performance, formerly held by Tom Hanks, who is currently receiving $49 million for Angels & Demons, the follow-up to The DaVinci Code. That’s a lot of swag, but there’s only one Johnny Depp, and with some $2.7 billion in the bank from POTC films, Disney knows a real treasure when they see one…

Johnny Depp has been cast as The Lone Ranger in the upcoming Jerry Bruckheimer produced adaptation of the classic old-time radio and early television show created by George W. Trendle. Depp will play a masked Texas Ranger in the Old West who rights injustices with the aid of his native American assistant, Tonto. He gallops along on his white horse Silver. The character’s signature quote is “Hi-yo, Silver, away!” Pirates of the Caribbean writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio have been writing the script. No start or release dates have been announced.
Depp must have signed a multi-picture deal with the studio, because it was also announced that the actor would play The Madd Hatter in Tim Burton’s 3D part live-action, part computer animated adaptation of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Principal photography is set to begin in November, with a March 5th 2010 release date previously announced. Concept art from the film was shown, showing the classic Alice in Wonderland scenes done in Tim Burton style, complete with curved and slanted corners. Everything is really stylized. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb have huge heads, and are shaped like upward missiles. None of the characters look like a dramatic departure from the traditional designs.
At the conclusion of the presentation, Walt Disney Studios Chairman Richard W. “Dick” Cook announced “How about another pirates movie!?” signaling that Depp was now signed for Pirates of the Caribbean 4.

Johnny Depp is set to reunite with Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski in a new animated movie.
Depp will lend his voice to a household pet who goes on an adventure in Rango, an idea dreamed up by Verbinski.
The project is a collaboration with George Lucas’ Industrial Light and Magic, and Verbinski is promising it will take animation to the next level.
He tells Daily Variety, “(Cutting edge techniques) will allow us to capture and translate every aspect of Johnny’s performance, using it to drive the computer-generated character in a way that has yet to be seen in an animated feature.”
The movie is slated for a 2011 release.
