As usual, Johnny is playing another odd-ball character. It looks sort of creepy!

Johnny Depp will produce and star in Warner Independent’s adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson’s autobiographical 1959 book The Rum Diaries. Depp will play Paul Kemp, a freelance newspaper journalist in 1950s Puerto Rico who is surrounded by a group of self-destructive lost souls.
Thompson wrote the novel when he was 22, before he developed his trademark ”gonzo” style of writing. Though written in 1959, Rum Diaries was not published until 1998.
Depp previously starred in a movie adaptation of Thompson’s 1972 novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The actor just finished shooting Sweeny Todd and is expected to start work on Rum Diaries after he wraps Shantaram, Mira Nair’s adaptation of the novel about an Australian drug addict who returns to a life of crime after escaping to India.
Last week, it was announced that Depp’s production company was working with King’s GK Films on a movie adaptation of the 1960s supernatural soap opera Dark Shadows.
Fear & Loathing is one of the strangest movies I’ve ever seen. Yikes.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star – in all his topless glory – set sail for a romantic getaway in the Mediterranean with his long-term partner, French actress Vanessa Paradis.
The trip comes as rumours are circulating that Depp is planning to wed Paradis after almost than ten years together.

Johnny Depp has been branded an “arsehole” after trying to start a fight with Blur bassist Alex James. The rocker reveals he found it difficult to interact with other celebrities when his band was propelled to fame in the 1990s – and stars like Depp did little to help the situation.
He recalls, “I met (Depp) in Soho House, and he was an arsehole. He wanted to talk to the girl I was with, and he poured a pint of Guinness over me. Very weird. I think he wanted me to (hit him). But I just went home with the girl instead, which would have hurt him more.”

Johnny Depp may wow millions of cinemagoers with his role in the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN trilogy, but his children still prefer Spider-Man.
The Hollywood hunk, who plays Captain Jack Sparrow in the swashbuckling franchise, has two children – Lily-Rose, seven; and Jack, five; – and they are more interested in box office rival Spider-Man than their dad’s films.
He says, “I’d get in and say (in Jack Sparrow voice) ‘All right kids, everything all right?’ And they’d say, ‘Dad, come on, I’m watching Spider-Man.’ “Oh man, Spider-Man. My boy has gone into that full-on superhero phase. But I refuse to wear the tights.”

Johnny Depp is likely to finally marry his long-term girlfriend this summer, reports claim.
The 43-year-old actor has been with girlfriend Vanessa Paradis for eight years and the pair have two children together, but the recent illness of daughter Lily-Rose has “spurred them into action”, sources say.
Depp’s seven-year-old daughter was rushed to hospital after she suffered from E.coli poisoning earlier this year, with the actor suspending work on his latest film to keep a vigil at her bedside with Vanessa.
He refused to return to the set of the Sweeney Todd film, which was being shot in London, until Lily-Rose was well again.
And the move brought the family even closer, claim insiders, who suggest a wedding is not too far off.
One source, who lives in the same French village as the couple, told the Daily Mail: “They have talked about marriage on and off for a long time but the recent emotional roller-coaster they have had to endure seems to have spurred them into action.”
However, they added that the couple, who live in the picturesque village of Plan de la Tour, near St Tropez, would not marry in the local church.
The source said: “We understand they will marry this summer. Villagers thought they would wed in the church here but we now hear that they have a little chapel in the grounds of their home.”
