Johnny Depp has reportedly signed a massive $33.6 million pay deal to star in the fourth installment of the Pirates Of The Caribbean film franchise.

The movie hunk has proved popular in his role as eccentric high seas character Captain Jack Sparrow – the first three films have garnered more than $2.5 billion at the worldwide box office.

Studio bosses were so eager to get Depp back on board for 2011’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, they offered him a minimum $33.6 million pay deal – with more cash from ticket sales, according to Britain’s The Sun newspaper.

Johnny Depp is eyeing the chance to go traveling with Angelina Jolie – he is in talks to step into Tom Cruise’s shoes in The Tourist.

Jolie stepped up to replace Charlize Theron in the remake of 2005 French thriller Anthony Zimmer after the South African beauty was forced to drop out.

Cruise was also slated to star, but pulled out of his part to team up with Vanilla Sky co-star Cameron Diaz in a new movie.

Aussie actor Sam Worthington was reported to have accepted the role, but has since dropped out – and Depp has now been lined up for the lead part, according to Variety.

The film tells the tale of a female agent on the hunt for an elusive ex-boyfriend, who becomes a wanted man.

We’ve been waiting for this onscreen pairing for eons: The coolest actor in Hollywood opposite the most beautiful and enigmatic — yes, Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie will be co-starring in a remake of The Tourist.

Johnny, 46, is in talks to replace Terminator Salvation hunk Sam Worthington, who has pulled out of the male lead role opposite Angelina.

The mom-of-six signed on to replace Charlize Theron who was originally attached to the project.

The movie, which is a remake of a 2005 French spy thriller called Anthony Zimmer, involves a female Interpol agent who uses an American tourist visiting France as bait for a wanted criminal who also happens to be her former lover.

What is it with Angelina, 33, and these international espionage roles? The trailer for her movie Salt was released this week and features all the usual Angie elements: guns, high-speed chases and running from sinister spymasters.

Johnny Depp says his dream role is to play Broadway legend Carol Channing in a biopic — and now Channing has offered her blessing.

“It is not a new concept to me,” Channing said. “Not at all. Men have been imitating me for as long as I can remember. In fact, most of the impersonations I have seen have had a five-o’clock shadow. I imagine, when or if Johnny should portray me, he will succeed. Because a true artist, such as himself, is one who loves his or her creation and therefore represents their honest view of that which they are creating. I think he is a gifted performer and I would be very proud, as well as interested in seeing what his vision of me would be. Johnny is someone I would very much like to help me and my foundation (ChanningARTS.org) to bring the arts back into the public school system in America.”

Depp said in an interview last week that he would love to play Channing. “I love her, I really do, she’s amazing. With all the digital technology these days, I could probably pull it off!”

Johnny Depp has his eye on a gender-bending movie role – he would love to portray singer/actress Carol Channing in a biopic.

The character actor has regularly donned a series of bizarre outfits for his films, and even dressed up as a woman for his starring part in 1994 comedy Ed Wood.

He’s determined to go even further with a future role – by playing 88-year-old Channing.

He says, “My dream role would be to play musical legend Carol Channing in a biopic of her life. I love her, I really do, she’s amazing. With all the digital technology these days, I could probably pull it off!”
