John Mayer is poking fun at his songwriting skills in a hilarious new internet video, insisting he requires a “drug-addict-for-hire” for inspiration.

The rocker stars in a new Makin’ Music with John Mayer skit for Will Ferrell’s FunnyOrDie.com website, and dons a 1980s sports outfit to get in the zone for his songwriting session, which includes a focus group and a team of hitmakers who pen tracks for him.

The very tongue-in-cheek skit is directed by Judd Apatow and features Kristen Bell.

At the end, Mayer jokes, “If I wasn’t thought of as a young Bruce Springsteen before, I sure am now!”

Usher is desperate to record collaborations with both rocker John Mayer and singer/songwriter Michael Buble.

The You Make Me Wanna hitmaker has included a duet with fellow singer Ne-Yo on his new album, Here I Stand, but has now picked out the two other stars for possible future projects.

And Usher has even picked out which songs he would like to reinterpret with each artist.

He says, “I’d like to do something with John Mayer on this song I have on my album called Something Special. I’d love him to play guitar and sing with me on that. And I’d love to perform my other song Forever with Michael Buble. I actually wrote that with the intention of him and me doing it together.”

Although they’ve kept their relationship quiet, In Touch has learned that John Mayer is crazy about Jennifer Aniston. He flew to Miami on April 23 and checked into the Four Seasons hotel, but insiders say that he spent virtually no time there during his visit — opting instead to hang out in the $3,000-a-night presidential suite at the Mandarin Oriental, where Jen has been staying while shooting the movie Marley & Me. And the two were inseparable over the long weekend. When asked how he was doing, after spending four days with his new love, John smiled. “My weekend was good,” he told In Touch exclusively.

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer lunched together at Michael’s restaurant in Miami, Florida Friday.

The actress and the singer then met up for dinner at Casa Tua on South Beach.

Their lunch “definitely seemed like a date,” a witness told Usmagazine.com.

“He had a sandwich,” the onlooker said. “She stole some bites and nibbled on a salad.”

Cameron Diaz got some friendly support from her exes Justin Timberlake and John Mayer as her family held a memorial service for her late father Sunday.

Emilio Diaz, 58, died of pneumonia Tuesday morning. On Wednesday, Cameron, 35, thanked everyone for their condolences in a message that read: “His humor and spirit will always live on in our hearts.”

And in keeping with that exuberant Diaz family spirit, guests arrived at the memorial service at Mahe in Seal Beach in non-traditional garb. “Most people started arriving at 1:30 and hardly no one wore black,” says a source.”Lots of people were wearing Hawaiian shirts. It looked more like a party.”

Timberlake and Mayer arrived separately and stayed until most people started leaving around 4 p.m. – after Cameron had spoken a few words to the group.

John Mayer’s New Year’s Eve kiss with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has done nothing to dent the rocker’s stud status - he has topped a new Hot Bachelors poll.
Hilton recently revealed all about the “five minute” smooch with Mayer at a New York party, claiming the rocker’s then-girlfriend stroked his crotch while he kissed the gay blogger.

Mayer’s publicist has called Hilton’s claims “ridiculous” but the blogger recently passed a lie detector test in the hope of proving his story was factual.
