The Fantasy Factory is one of my favorite MTV shows. It’s one of the few shows that my husband and I can watch together (most of my tv drives him nuts!) and we spend a full half hour cracking up. And I think John Mayer is hilarious also – so I’m watching tonight for sure!

Latest John Mayer rumor involved him hooking up with a certain Kristen Cavallari. There was a Page Six Blind Item recently that claimed there was a famous singer who has been sleeping with a reality star in secret for two years.  It was taken a bit further and announced by “sources” that the couple were in fact together – and considering going public.

Well, John steps in – and denies the whole thing via Twitter, rather humorously I might add.

We’d never thought of John Mayer as one of those kids in the neighborhood your mom didn’t want you to play with.

But apparently we were wrong.

We hear that the mom of one of his buddies recently gave the star a good telling off for being “a bad influence” on her boy.

You may remember the star of MTV’s Fantasy Factory, Rob Dyrdek, being carried out of a club by John back in June.

It turned out to be a stunt the boys had dreamed up to mess with the paparazzi. But even so, the incident didn’t go down too well with Mrs. Drydek. And it took all of John’s legendary charm to get himself out of her bad books.

“My mother was so disappointed,” Rob told OK! the other day.

“She went to instantly not liking him and thinking he was a bad influence on me,” said the pro skater, whose misspent adulthood is documented in the Fantasy Factory.

“She used to be like, ‘John Mayer’s so great!’. And then after that she was like, ‘No John! I don’t care how famous you are, John.’”

“My mom knows that the paparazzi ain’t chasing me, and that me going out with him and acting like I was drunk — like he influenced me to be the guy getting carried out of the club.

“She was like, ‘John, how come you didn’t get carried out of a club?’.

“I got the bad end of it.”

Jessica Simpson hit the town in Hollywood Saturday night, dining at hotspot Katsuya with friends – including sister Ashlee Simpson-Wentz – but one person was not there: Her ex John Mayer.

Contrary to reports circulating online that Mayer met up with Simpson at the restaurant, a source tells People he was never there Saturday. Instead, Mayer showed up at Katsuya on Sunday and had a guys’ night out.

Mayer and his three buddies drank whiskey neat and enjoyed crispy rice, spicy tuna, edamame and yellowtail with jalapeno, according to the source.

“I don’t know where this rumor got started,” added a source close to Simpson. “John was not at Katsuya with Jess.”

Mayer, 31, and Simpson, 29, have been in contact via text message since her split from NFL star Tony Romo, but, “they haven’t met up,” according to a Mayer source. “They’re friendly but that’s it.”

At Simpson’s dinner on Saturday one thing seemed apparent: She wasn’t mourning her split from Romo. “Jessica looked like she was having a good time with her friends,” says an onlooker. “She was all smiles and didn’t look like Tony was on her mind at all.”

Reps for both Simpson and Mayer had no comment.

First, Nick Lachey told People there was very little truth to reports he might get back together with his newly single ex-wife, Jessica Simpson.

Now comes bad news for fans hoping Simpson’s ex-boyfriend John Mayer will heal her broken heart.

“Absolutely not,” Mayer’s pal Rob Dyrdek, 35, star of MTV’s Fantasy Factory, told People Monday at Ryan Scheckler’s X Games Celebrity Skins Classic” in Coto De Caza, Calif.

Mayer and Simpson dated on-and-off for about a year before splitting in 2007. Dyrdek says he “wouldn’t rule out” a reunion, but adds, “I’m just saying [I don't think so].”

Earlier this month, Mayer found himself in the middle of Simpson’s breakup with her boyfriend of a year and a half, Tony Romo, when reports surfaced that he had been texting the pop star, 29. In May, a source told People the exes “have been in touch.”

Mayer observers may remember Dyrdek, a pro skateboarder, as the apparently drunk friend the singer carried out of L.A. club MyHouse June 14. Mayer Tweeted later that night that he was with Dyrdek at the hospital as he had his stomach pumped.

It was a prank.

“He’s one of the most incredible people I have ever met and a thoroughbred genius,” Dyrdek says of Mayer. “He just likes to [mess] with the paparazzi. He’s like, ‘I want to do so much more crazy [stuff],’ and he settled on carrying me out of the club.”

The faux-scandal will be part of Fantasy Factory. “I did a whole episode on what it’s like to have a psychotically famous [friend],” Dyrdek says. “Just the whole idea of how out of control it got. To where my parents’ local news was like, ‘Local celebrity almost dies.’ ”

The practical jokers later devised a creative way to tell Dyrdek’s mother they were sorry. “We recorded a song called ‘Rob’s Mom’ that apologizes to her and all of the girls in the office.”

John Mayer “slept” with nine science-fiction geeks at a comic book convention last weekend.

The ‘Gravity’ singer joked he seduced several women dressed as Japanese manga heroine Sailor Moon at Comic-Con in San Diego, California.

Writing on his Twitter account, the 31-year-old star said: “This weekend at Comic-Con I slept with nine Sailor Moons. Not an easy task when you’re dressed like a Stormtrooper (sic).”

John – who has been single since he split from ‘Marley and Me’ star Jennifer Aniston earlier this year – also used his profile on the social networking website to make a dirty joke about a fictional race of beings popularized in the ‘Star Wars’ franchise.

He said: “Sandpeople travel in single file to hide their numbers. This makes them a major letdown in gangbangs (sic).”

It’s not the first time the singer has bragged about his sexual conquests on the internet.

In May, he boasted he had persuaded “dozens” of women to leave red lipstick marks on his face during a night out in Los Angeles so the paparazzi would think he had several new girlfriends.

He wrote: “OK, check it. Just spent the last hour getting the reddest lipstick on me for a gag. When you see the pics of me leaving the club covered in kisses it’s all a gag.”

Right before going to bed last night, Perez Hilton and John Mayer shared a heated exchange on, well, Twitter of course.

“From the heart,” Mayer writes to Perez, “what you experienced these last 24 hrs is a profound lack of control. You can’t blog the world, my friend.”

The argument consisted of over a dozen saucy back-and-forth posts. Perez tirelessly defends his honor while Mayer suggests better ways Perez could have handled the situation with Will.I.Am, going as far as to cite rules of the Israeli martial art, Krav Maga.

Mayer: Perez Hilton’s video statement is so long that by the end of it his cut healed.

Perez: That’s real funny! Ha ha! And I’m sure you also think I “deserved” to get hit!

Mayer: I also want to train you in an old martial art called “Never Call A Black Dude a F**got Jitsu.”

Perez: Dude, I get it. I GET IT. But it’s not f**king funny to me. Karma would be me losing my site and going bankrupt or what have u.

And as if the whole world coming down on the sassy blogger weren’t enough, Mayer tops off his beef by calling Perez a “dumb sh*t.”
