John Mayer has come up with a way to end the controversy surrounding Grey’s Anatomy star Isaiah Washington’s use of a gay slur against a co-star – make his character gay. Washington stunned cast mates in the Golden Globes press room on Monday when he denied calling co-star T.R. Knight a “faggot.”
Mayer writes on his blog, “What better way for an actor to get to the roots of his discrimination than by portraying the very subject of his own ire for the remainder of his contract?”
The singer even went as far as outlining two scenes; one paints Washington’s character as the webmaster of the fan site for the glam rock band who also bakes tea cookies. The other suggests that a caged tiger be on set at all times to keep Washington in line.
Washington issued a statement yesterday, apologizing for his behavior and admitting that he needed professional help to deal with the issue.

With reports of the duo “making out” on New Year’s Eve, a disheveled Simpson can be seen exiting the club with Mayer by her side.

John Mayer usually says “no” to requests to parody his music, but when “The Office” came calling this Christmas, the singer had a change of heart. The show wanted to use his sentimental tune “Your Body is a Wonderland” for an office holiday party scene. On his blog, Mayer explains, “I initially turned the request down, but after thinking about it, and hearing the details on the incredibly funny sounding scene… I decided to go for it.”
“I’m not making apologies for my work,” Mayer writes, “but it’s safe to say I don’t get asked to use ‘Wonderland’ for strongman competitions and documentaries about aircraft carriers. I get asked so that people can goof on it.” Indeed, Steve Carrell’s character Michael Scott butchers the tune during a karaoke session. Sounds harsh, but luckily Mayer’s sense of humor got the better of him. He calls the series “one of my favorite shows on television.”
