John Mayer has confessed he once enjoyed a fling with a groupie.

The singer, who is currently dating Jennifer Aniston, insists the tryst happened years ago and he’d never fall for a fan again – because modern technology has left him too scared.

Mayer says, “I might have hooked up with people, but as soon as we hooked up, they weren’t fans anymore.”

He adds, “(I haven’t done it) in a really long time – not since the camera phone! I’m not trusting enough to really open up to anybody I don’t know very well anymore.”

Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer continued to keep their romance firmly off the radar Saturday.

Slipping unnoticed into the musician’s backstage area at the Hard Rock Calling festival in London’s Hyde Park, Aniston stood quietly in the wings while the “Georgia Calling” singer ran through a 45-minute set in front of an audience of ten of thousands.

But the actress wasn’t just there to lend moral support: wearing a black-and-white floral halter-neck top and faded flared jeans, Aniston busily snapped away with her camera to record Mayer’s on-stage performance.

It was the second time in two days that Aniston had joined Mayer for one of his gigs. On Friday, she took a seat in the upper level of the gritty south London venue, the Brixton Academy, before leaving with Mayer at around 11:30 p.m.

Earlier this week, the couple united in Amsterdam, where she was promoting the upcoming Marley and Me (with Owen Wilson) and Mayer was performing.

In keeping with the low-key theme of her London visit, she never once ventured into the Hard Rock VIP area and quietly left the show without anyone noticing.

Even the paparazzi camped outside her London hotel were left guessing.

Mayer later appeared on stage at the end of the show alongside headliner Eric Clapton and Aniston’s close friend Sheryl Crow. But again Aniston was absent.

Mayer is due to perform at the Glastonbury Festival on Sunday. His European tour then moves onto Copenhagen.

John Mayer has hinted at an early retirement from the music industry after completing his summer tour.

The star, 30, is currently in the middle of his European jaunt, but has indicated to USA Today newspaper that he may never release another album again.

He says, “I’m not sure when I’ll come back with another record. I feel like I’ve done everything I can do with this set of tools.”

Mayer’s last release, The Village Session EP, hit stores in December 2006.

He spent time meeting fans who were waiting outside the venue and happily posed for pictures with them.

There was no sign of his Hollywood A list girlfriend Jennifer Aniston.

Jennifer Aniston has shown her support for new boyfriend John Mayer – by flying to London to join him on tour.

The rocker is currently preparing for a series of concerts across the U.K. and Aniston has now travelled to the country to be by his side.

While neither has officially confirmed the relationship, the pair has been inseparable over the last few months, with Mayer commuting to Florida at weekends while Aniston was filming her new movie Marley & Me in Miami.

Mayer kicks off his tour in Birmingham, England on Tuesday and wraps up with a live show at London’s Brixton Academy on Friday.

The red-hot romance of John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston got the thumbs-up from one unlikely source: Mayer’s former girlfriend, Friday Night Lights star Minka Kelly.

Asked how she feels about her ex’s new relationship, Kelly, 27, told People at Wednesday’s Rock Bodies event, presented by Self magazine, in New York City: “I’m really happy – as long as they’re happy, I am.”

Mayer, 30, dated Kelly for several months late last year. He and Aniston, 39, were first spotted together in April and have been hot-and-heavy ever since.
