Jennifer Aniston is back in contact with her ex-lover John Mayer and longing for a reconciliation, MailOnline can reveal.

The pair, who broke up last month following a summer fling, have enjoyed daily telephone conversations since the actress returned to Los Angeles from a work trip to Mexico last week.

It follows a prolonged period in the doldrums for Aniston, 39, who only weeks before the split had undergone lip surgery in an effort to appear more attractive to Mayer, 30.

A friend said: ‘Jennifer reached out to John first. She had a few glasses of wine – then decided to throw caution to the wind and make the first move.

‘John was pleasantly surprised to hear from her. He says they’ve been in contact pretty much every day since and he’s really looking forward to seeing her again soon.’

It’s claimed the former Friends star has been drowning her sorrows ever since being dumped by the New York-raised musician.

In fact, Mayer is said to have grown concerned over his ex’s wayward lifestyle and urged her to slow down.

A source told MailOnline: ‘Jennifer’s friends are worried.

‘She’s had a really tough time since the break-up and the more time goes on, she realises how much John still means to her. Basically, she’s still in love with him and has had a really tough time letting go.’

Aniston’s penchant for afternoon cocktails is said to have started earlier this year while she worked in Miami on the comedy Marley & Me and began her relationship with Mayer.

Since then she has become increasingly withdrawn, choosing to let her hair down behind closed doors, despite occasional public outings which have been largely work related.

The source added: ‘Jen just needs to be careful about not being so needy and vulnerable when it comes to men. Unfortunately partying tends to bring that side out of her and she’s a lot more appealing to John when she parties less.’
The saga is the latest twist in Aniston’s perpetually tangled love life, which has spiralled downwards since her marriage to Brad Pitt ended in 2005.

Before moving on to Mayer, she endured failed romances with actor Vince Vaughan and British model Paul Sculfor.

She was recently linked to the Scottish actor Gerard Butler, but sources say the pair are merely collaborating on an upcoming film.

John Mayer has reportedly reconciled with the sexy Spaniard he dated briefly before becoming Jennifer Aniston’s boyfriend.

The Daughters singer had a fling with Miami, Florida waitress Maria Marin before he started going steady with actress Aniston, according to reports – and now he’s back in the sexy European’s arms.

Sources tell Life & Style magazine that Mayer kept in touch with Marin while he was dating Aniston, but insist he was faithful to the former Friends star.

But when Mayer and Aniston split this summer, the rocker reached out to his ex.

One pal tells the publication, “She’s (Marin) originally from Spain and speaks with a thick accent.”

The couple reportedly resumed their passionate fling after meeting up at a party in Miami on August 31st.

The source adds, “She (Marin) totally doted on him and didn’t leave his side.”

Mayer first met Marin when she waited on him at trendy restaurant the Forge – and they exchanged phone numbers.

The insider reveals, “John sent her a sexy text, and they met up at his hotel. Maria raved about how outrageously hot John was in bed – really athletic, strong and wild.”

The romance ended when Mayer started dating Aniston in April.

How do you end a two-month world tour in West Palm Beach? If you’re John Mayer, with a beautiful blonde cocktail waitress waiting in the wings.

While stealing glances backstage at the striking blonde during his mic breaks, Mayer was definitely in party mode at the packed final show of the tour at the Cruzan Amphitheater Sunday night.

“We’re all drunk,” said Mayer of himself and his bandmates. “Only onstage can you openly drink on your last night. I’d like to see George Bush light up a giant joint.”

One topic the singer didn’t touch? Ex-girlfriend Jennifer Aniston – whom he recently called “the smartest and most sophisticated woman” he’s ever met – by name.

But Mayer did give offer one cryptic comment.

“I had a conversation recently,” he told the crowd, “and a lot of tears were exchanged.”

The Grammy winner also warned the audience about the price of fame.

“People say I’m the hottest thing, part of a corporate machine,” he said. “Well, I’ve been out here for 10 years. I don’t want to have the number-one song. I want to be number eight. It’s a much better place to be. Because as soon as you become fashion, as soon as you become the flavor of the day, you get crushed.”

He added: “Here’s my advice for you. Never fully arrive. Be a work in progress.”

After the show, Mayer and the blonde waitress headed for SET, an Old Hollywood-style club on South Beach.

The pair hit a private, upstairs area called the Trophy Room where they ordered drinks and kept to themselves.

“She kept asking him what he wanted to drink and if he liked the music,” says a source of the mix of house and techno that was playing. “They partied till about 3 a.m.”

While his recent ex Jennifer Aniston did the town on Madison Avenue and the Met, John Mayer toasted tennis pro James Blake, his Connecticut classmate from Fairfield High at a Manhattan benefit for his charity, the Thomas Blake Cancer Research fund.

Honoring Blake’s father, who died of cancer, the event was hosted by Men’s Vogue and featured luxury watches.

“John is a watch guru. He tried on this skeleton watch, which is worth about $10,000, and even asked for our president’s card,” said Maurice Lacroix watch spokeswoman Fran Pennella.

Blake said of Mayer, “He’s such an incredible musician. We’re just so happy to see each other’s careers grow.”

“They’re really supportive of each other,” adds Blake’s older brother, also named Thomas Blake. “Whenever they’re in the same town, John is sure to go to James’s tournaments and James is always at his concerts.”

Said a partygoer: “He even offered music advice for our 4-year-old daughter. I asked him what would be the best instrument for her to learn, and he … said, ‘If she can learn piano, she can learn to play guitar, horns and the basic chords in music.”
