John Mayer and his long hair were spotted in L.A. today.

John Mayer once ruled Twitter with four million followers, but apparently he had to quit! To be honest, I hadn’t even noticed he went missing! Apparently he had to quit Twitter because he was having a hard time putting together complete thoughts. Not only that, but apparently Twitter was preventing him from songwriting!

John Mayer revealed why he’s gone cold turkey on social media while advising students at a recent clinic at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. “I realized about a year ago that I couldn’t have a complete thought anymore, and I was a tweetaholic,” Mayer said. “I had four million Twitter followers, and I was always writing on it. And I stopped using Twitter as an outlet and I started using Twitter as the instrument to riff on, and it started to make my mind smaller and smaller and smaller. And I couldn’t write a song.”

Since quitting Twitter, Mayer has endeavored to become more disciplined and focused on his music. “Here are the rules for recording this record: No drum machines, no loops, no keyboards to start out with, no excuses, no breaks, no laptops, no nothing,” he said. “If you take a break, it’s to eat. If you’re done, you go home.”

Mayer told the music students to focus their time on practicing and finishing songs rather than promoting their projects on social media sites. “This time is a really important time for you guys because nobody knows who you are, and nobody should,” he said. “This is not a time to promote yourself. It doesn’t matter. This is the time to get your stuff together. Promotion can be like that. You can have promotion in 30 seconds if your stuff is good. Good music is its own promotion.”

Nothing like this ever happened to me on a Girls’ Night Out; sexy rocker (and heartthrob) John Mayer was spotted at the Standard Hotel in New York after a Cinema Society screening of Happythankyoumoreplease. The singer was seen in the Boom Boom Room with a group of ladies, ridding them of their sparkling wine and taking some tequila shots.

Rumors were floating around, suggesting that Shenae Grimes and John Mayer were hooking up. Now, Shenae is coming forth to put those rumors to rest.

“According to Star magazine John Mayer and I are in secret sexy cahoots,” Grimes tweeted Wednesday. Unahppy with the way the tabloid portrayed her in its story, Grimes added: “How wonderful for me…if wonderful meant embarrassing.”

Even though Eva is in the middle of a divorce from husband Tony Parker, that may not stop John Mayer from going in for the kill! Sources tell Pop Eater that the singer is hot for Eva!

“John is crazy about Eva,” a friend of the crooner tells me. “There is something about newly-divorced ladies that drives him nuts. He was the same way over Jessica [Simpson] when she left Nick [Lachey], and now he has his eye on Eva.”

“No way is Eva thinking of another man right now,” a friend of the actress tells me. “Mayer can send all the flowers in the world and even show up under her window with his guitar and it would make no difference. Eva wants some alone time. She is still heartbroken about her marriage falling apart.”
