Joel Madden was left fuming during a weekend visit to a farmers’ market in Los Angeles, when a fellow shopper insulted his one-year-old daughter by comparing her to a dog.
He explains on his Twitter.com blog, “Harlow and I went to the farmers’ market today… We had fun. Best part? Watching this lady freak out. I’ll explain.
“They wouldn’t let her dog run around. They said it was a health violation. She then looks at Harlow and other little kids around and says…. ‘Look at these kids! They’re more of a health violation than my dog!’ And I said, ‘Lady, I’ll drop kick that lil’ mutt if you don’t shut it.’”

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are already the proud parents of an adorable 16-month-old daughter, Harlow, and now, they’re getting ready for the arrival of a bouncing baby boy in August, a friend tells In Touch.

“Joel bought water-based paint for the nursery and — surprise, surprise — it’s blue,” reveals another pal of the couple, who adds that Nicole refers to the baby as “he.”

“Plus, she recently ordered some plush animals and infant toys from FAO Schwarz, and everything just happens to be blue.”

Nicole Richie threw a lavish birthday party last night for boyfriend Joel Madden on the terrace of the Sunset Tower hotel.

The reality star and jewelry designer left baby Harlow at home for the boisterous affair celebrating the rocker’s 30th birthday. More than 35 friends packed the tented terrace, which was closed off for the evening. The terrace—which has a stunning view of the Los Angeles lights—was presided over by discreet yet formidable security.

“There was a lot of laughing and even some speeches,” one nearby diner noted of the party. “Nicole and Joel were nestled in the center of the big group and they looked as happy as they could be to be celebrating with their friends. They were beaming in the soft terrace lighting.”

While the likes of Sharon Stone and Drew Barrymore dined separately inside the restaurant, the rocker-bash carried on enthusiastically outside.

The dinner was three courses and “there was a lot of prime-looking steak” delivered to the table. The highlight of the evening was a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday” accompanied by a massive birthday cake. “It was so big that I am surprised that thing didn’t set off the fire alarms,” our diner noted.

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are expecting again!

The couple — already parents to one-year-old daughter Harlow — announced that Richie is pregnant again on Madden’s Good Charlotte blog, Saturday night.

“What’s better than winning an Oscar?” Madden wrote. “I am so happy to tell everyone that Harlow is going to be a big sister!”

He added: “God has truly blessed my family. Hope you’re all feeling as good as I am right now.”

Richie, 27, and Madden, 29, have been honing their parental instincts since last December — a month before Harlow was born — when they launched the Richie-Madden Foundation, a charity that supports families and children in need.
