Melissa Rivers Comments On Joan's Oscars Memoriam Snub

Yesterday, we told you of how the Academy somehow left out Joan Rivers from their in memoriam segment on Sunday night’s airing of the Oscars. Now, her daughter Melissa is commenting on the snub.

Melissa took to her mother’s Facebook account to comment on the matter, and despite her disappointment, she decided to take the high road:

The response from Melissa Rivers regarding the omission of her mom from the Oscars ‘In Memoriam’ tribute: “It would have been nice, especially considering the impact she had on the awards season, but Cooper and I have been overwhelmed with support and love over my mom’s passing and we choose to focus on that.”

Were you saddened by their lack of honoring the late, great comedienne?

Joan Rivers Left Out Of Oscars ‘In Memoriam’ Segment

Joan Rivers Left Out Of Oscars 'In Memoriam' Segment

Joan Rivers was left out of the “in memoriam” segment at last night’s Oscars! Seriously…

The legendary comedienne passed away on September 4, 2014 after undergoing what was thought to be a routine throat procedure. During the Oscars, the Academy usually pays tribute to those who have passed away in the previous year – but Joan was left out of the telecast.

The tribute, which began with a heartfelt speech by Meryl Streep, paid homage to visionaries including Robin Williams, Mike Nichols, Maya Angelou, Richard Attenborough and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Notably left out of the remembrance was iconic comedian Joan Rivers. The decision was criticized across social media.

“Joan Rivers is among the many worthy artists and filmmakers we were unfortunately unable to feature in the In Memoriam segment of this year’s Oscar show,” a representative for the Academy Awards said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “She is, however, included in our In Memoriam gallery on”

Do you think they should have paid tribute to Joan in their live segment? Have your say in the comments section below.

Melissa Rivers Files Multimillion Dollar Lawsuit Against Joan Rivers’ Doctors

Joan Rivers' Clinic Was Obviously Negligent In Her Treatment

Melissa Rivers is taking some action against the docs who performed surgery on Joan Rivers prior to her September 2014 death!

According to  TMZ and The New York Daily News, Rivers claims gross medical malpractice, alleging that the doctors didn’t think to perform a tracheotomy on Rivers, who stopped breathing after the unplanned biopsy that caused her death.  There was also some other shady crap that happened, as detailed by US Weekly:

“The level of medical mismanagement, incompetency, disrespect and outrageous behavior is shocking and frankly, almost incomprehensible,” Melissa wrote in the lawsuit. “Not only did my mother deserve better, every patient deserves better.”

The Fashion Police producer is also suing her late mom’s personal doctor, Gwen Korovin. According to the documents, Korovin should not have been permitted in the room where the procedure was being performed but jumped in and announced, “I’ll go first.”

The lawsuit also claims that another doctor, as previously reported, took photos of an unconscious Joan on a cellphone.

“Had doctors acted as physicians for Joan Rivers instead of groupies, Joan Rivers would have been doing Fashion Police last week,” Melissa’s lawyer, Jeffrey Bloom, told the New York Daily News, who was first to report the lawsuit.

As you know, Rivers was then hospitalized and placed in an induced coma for seven days. I didn’t know about the cell phone photos and all that- it makes me kinda sick.  Who are these people?! Sounds like they deserve to be sued.

Kathy Griffin: ‘Joan Rivers Left Some Large Shoes To Fill’

Kathy Griffin: 'Joan Rivers Left Some Large Shoes To Fill'

Kathy Griffin has been tasked with hosting “Fashion Police” following the untimely death of its host Joan Rivers. She knows the big deal placed on the job because she has said that Joan has left some pretty large shoes to fill.

“This was a job that was held by our dear friend Joan Rivers,” Griffin said in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday, Dec. 9. “I understand I have some very, very large shoes to fill.”

Rivers led the E! show from its inception in 2010, until the last episode this past August before her death. The Emmy-winning star passed away on Sept. 4 at the age of 81 after complications from a surgical procedure.

“In her honor, I will not be holding back,” Griffin said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! “I am giving no passes, I am going to let people have it, I’m gonna bring the hammer down.”

There were rumors floating around that suggested that Kelly Osbourne was flabbergasted to learn about how much Kathy was making to replace Joan. Was Kathy Griffin a good choice in replacing the legendary comedienne? Have your say in the comments section below.
