Jessica Simpson may be getting back to her country roots, but she has her sights set on a New York City apartment.

Simpson recently finished filming Major Movie Star and is now thinking about creating a country album, according to her father and manager, Joe Simpson.

After spending a few nights clubbing and dining around town, the 27-year-old singer-actress was spotted searching for the dwelling of her dreams.

“I’m looking at places because my record label is in New York and I want to be close to that and I’m singing again,” she confirmed to PEOPLE at the Operation Smile 25th Anniversary Gala in Beverly Hills on Friday. “I’m looking forward to it.”

Which neighborhood she’ll choose is still up in the air. Simpson was looking at condos in the $2 to $12 million-range all over Manhattan, according to TMZ.com.

As one of the faces of Operation Smile, which provides medical surgery to children who suffer from facial birth defects and can’t afford treatment, Simpson traveled to Kenya where she used her musical talent to help lull the children to sleep.

“I’ve been in the hospital with the kids … Most of them are babies, so I can sing them lullabies,” she said.

Why does her face look so bucked up?

Jackass star Bam Margera has gone public with his Jessica Simpson romance, admitting the fling ended his volatile romance with on/off girlfriend Jennifer Rivell.

The Viva La Bam star, who is now married to childhood sweetheart Missy Rothstein, was romantically linked to Simpson after she split from husband Nick Lachey in 2005.

Simpson has always denied reports, despite Margera’s boasts during interviews that he briefly dated the pop star. And now Margera is coming clean about the romance, admitting his Simpson fling came to an end when his former fiancee found out about it.

Margera says, “We were seeing each other for a while - but that whole Hollywood thing just isn’t me. I guess it was good it happened though. The stories about me and Jessica prompted my ex, who I had been seeing on and off, to go nuts. She went crazy.

“She broke thousands of dollars worth of s**t at my house and all the rest of it - but at least it gave me a good excuse to dump her. I got rid of her after that, so, in a way, I can be grateful to Jessica Simpson. She helped me on the path of true love.”

Margera wed Rothstein in February.

Jessica Simpson was caught sleeping off a hangover outside of an army recruiting office!

Just kidding. Actually she is filming that monumental film “Major Movie Star.” Honestly I have no idea why people still put money up to make films starring Jessica Simpson. So far her box office draw is worse than Jennifer Aniston’s and that is saying a lot.

I don’t really care what this movie is about because even though I do enjoy myself some guilty pleasure movies from time to time I can’t even imagine the pain of sitting through a Jessica Simpson movie.

There are some things I just won’t do.

Jessica Simpson is reporterdly planning to have a baby with her gay hairdresser Ken Paves within the next six months!

The single actress - who has made no secret of her desire to have children and has spoken of adopting - is planning to have artificial insemination and her long-term friend and stylist Ken Paves wants to be the father.

A source told More magazine: “Jessica has considered adopting but I think she has always wanted to experience pregnancy.

“She’s an old fashioned girl. I’m sure she wants a child who is biologically hers.

“She and Ken were having dinner and Jess was moaning about how she couldn’t find a man to commit and how immature the guys she has dated have been. “Jess suggested artificial insemination. Ken is just as eager to have a baby, but his boyfriend isn’t as keen on the idea.

“However, she and Ken agreed to begin the process in the next six months.” Jessica recently admitted she was yearning for a baby, and was seriously considering adoption.

She said at the time: “I want to adopt before I actually have my own kids.” Jessica, 27, finalised her divorce from Nick Lachey last June. She has since dated singer John Mayer, who is now rumoured to be in a relationship with actress Cameron Diaz.
