With an Oscar and a Golden Globe trophy already on her shelf, Jennifer Hudson is aiming for the Triple Crown of awards: a Grammy in 2008.
“I used to watch the Grammys and dream of winning one,” she told People at a New Year’s Eve event headlined by the Dreamgirls star in Miami. “Maybe that can be next on my list.”
Guests at the Setai paid up to $60,000 per table to dine on Peking duck salad and roasted tenderloin by the poolside. Actor Dylan McDermott posed for pictures with guests before taking the stage to introduce Hudson as “one of the most talented people on the planet.”
Wearing a bright red Donna Karan sleeveless dress and more than $150,000 in jewelry specially designed by Rosalina Lydster, Hudson, 26, received an enthusiastic welcome from the crowd as she sang hits from Dreamgirls as well as “Happy Place,” a song from her upcoming album.
Despite Hudson’s banner year in 2007, she believes 2008 will be even better for her. “I get to sing this year,” she says. “I love acting and I hope I don’t ever have to choose between acting and singing, but singing is what I worked 17 years to do. That’s what I dreamed of. And I get to do it this year.”
Hudson, who also appears in the upcoming big-screen version of Sex and the City, adds: “I still don’t exactly believe everything that has happened to me. Every day, it’s like ‘Thank you God.’”

Hollywood is buzzing about Jennifer Hudson and Queen Latifah teaming up to star in The Secret Life of Bees. Dakota Fanning and Alicia Keys are in negotiations to join the film as well, Variety reports.
Based on the 2002 New York Times bestseller by Sue Monk Kidd, Bees is set in the 1960s and centers on Lily Owens (Fanning), a 14-year-old girl who runs away with her caregiver (Hudson) to a South Carolina town. There, the girl is taken in by an eccentric trio of beekeeping sisters (Latifah, Keys, and Sophia Okonedo). Owens soon learns that this town holds the secret to her mother’s past.

Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls) has joined the cast of New Line’s Sex and the City: The Movie.
Hudson will portray the assistant to Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw. The film revolves around the lives of the four main “Sex and the City” characters, four years after the time frame of the finale of the HBO series, which wrapped its six-year run in 2004.
The movie will begin shooting in New York on Sept. 19.
Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon and Chris Noth have signed to reprise their roles, and Michael Patrick King, the series’ longtime creative leader and executive producer, is set to write and direct.

According to Quentin Tarantino, Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson auditioned for the bloody “Grindhouse” but he turned her down. That would have been ODD casting. Good call Quentin.
“Jennifer auditioned for my movie Grindhouse, and it didn’t work out. But I love her.” Quentin Tarantino turned down the chance to work with Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson.

Jennifer Hudson’s ego seems to be super-sizing itself along with her fame: She just tried to back out of a big awards show until music-biz legend Clive Davis told her, in effect, “And I’m telling you – you are going.”
The Oscar-winning former “American Idol” contestant, according to Page Six, called the day before the Soul Train Awards show in Los Angeles and told them “she couldn’t make it,” says a source. But “Soul Train” impresario Don Cornelius wasn’t having any of her swanny behavior and called Davis, who told Hudson, “Get your ass out to L.A.” She obliged.
It’s just the latest too-big-for-her-Manolo-Blahniks moment for Hudson, who recently told Simon Cowell and “Idol” that their show was “a stepping stone,” which elicted a sharp reaction from Cowell. And she also dissed Burger King, where she worked as a teen, prompting them to offer her free Whoppers for life.
