According to the Washington Post, Jay-Z and Beyonce have filed paperwork with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office seeking to protect the name of their new baby girl.
The couple filed for the trademark on January 26, just a couple weeks after Blue Ivy’s™ birth. They are “reserving the moniker not for posterity, but for products — speculation has already begun that the power couple’s motivation was business-related and that they may have a line of baby accoutrements in the offing.”
At first I was thinking they are batsh*t crazy, but I guess not. “One fashion designer, Joseph Mbeh, submitted an application of his own to trademark “Blue Ivy Carter NYC” on Jan. 11 — just four forward-thinking days after the birth — while another filed to reserve “Blue Ivy Carter Glory IV” on Jan. 20 to use on a perfume line.” Both requests were denied.
Jay-Z has just confirmed the birth of “the most beautiful girl in the world” – his newborn daughter – with a song.
The song titled “Glory” debuted on his website Life and Times today, just two days after he and Beyonce became parents to their little girl, Blue Ivy.
Even though the couple haven’t released any official statement, his lyrics might suffice. “You’re my child of a child from Destiny’s Child.”
In the song, Jay-Z talks about where the child was conceived (in Paris) and even reveals that Beyonce had a miscarriage at one point.
“Last time the miscarriage was so tragic/We was afraid you’d disappear/But nah baby you magic.”
The song’s refrain is: “The most amazing feeling I feel/Words can’t describe what I’m feeling for real/ Maybe I paint the sky blue/My greatest creation was you. You. Glory.”
The sound of a baby’s cries – perhaps Blue’s – ends the song. The song says it features “B.I.C.” – which would be the initials of Blue Ivy Carter.
It’s the first child for the power couple, who wed in 2008 in a private ceremony after a years-long courtship. Beyonce announced her pregnancy to the world last August at the MTV Video Music Awards with a simple rub of her swollen belly.
It’s a girl for Beyonce and Jay-Z! E! Online and other sources have confirmed that Beyonce gave birth to a baby girl on Saturday night. Beyonce’s BFF Gwyneth Paltrow tweeted the baby’s name on Sunday: Blue Ivy Carter.
Reps for both singers haven’t confirmed the news yet, but several celeb friends have tweeted their congrats!
Rihanna tweeted, “Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih.” Friend Russell Simmons also offered his congratulations, tweeting, “congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z.”
According to New York Daily News, the superstar booked the fourth floor of the hospital for $1.3 million to make sure that her baby’s entrance into the world was nothing short of fiercely glamorous.
Speculation that Queen B’s due date was nearing was intensified right before New Year’s Eve, as Beyonce’s mother Tina, sister Solange and her family arrived in New York — no doubt to welcome their newest family member.
It was even reported that Beyonce and Jay-Z welcomed a baby girl named Tiana-May Carter before the end of the year, but the rumors were put to rest after a still-pregnant Beyonce was spotted at dinner with Jay-Z on New Year’s Eve in Brooklyn.
Those who were eagerly anticipating the birth of Beyonce’s offspring pegged her due date to late December based on a DVD she released earlier this year, telling fans that she was six months pregnant. “Hello! It’s September 23rd … Right now I’m actually shooting the video for ‘Countdown’ and I’m six months pregnant, pretending that my stomach is flat in body suits,” she said in her “Live at Roseland” DVD, according to the UK’s Daily Mail.
This is the first child for the couple who married in April 2008, uniting two of the biggest names in hip hop. Although B’s baby will not be able to comprehend the magnitude of her parents’ fame for some time, this sure is one lucky tot.

Now that their family is about to go from two to three, Beyonce and hubbie Jay-Z were spotted mansion-hunting in Miami Beach, and word on the street is they were taking a long look at singer Ricky Martin‘s 9,491 square foot home.
There’s no word on whether or not the couple have made an official offer on the house that Ricky purchased back in $10,000,000 — especially now that it’s listed over $2million over the purchase price at $12,500,000.
The place is pretty sick — boasting 7 beds, 10 baths, a swimming pool … and it’s located in one of the ritziest parts of Miami Beach, close to Miami Heat superstars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
There has been a lot of real estate buying and selling with the Knowles clan; Beyonce’s mother Tina not only put her Texas home on the market recently, but just a few weeks ago she listed her Manhattan apartment with word that she would be moving in with Bey and Jay.
Hip hop mogul Jay-Z is about to be a first time dad, and this new milestone has him thinking about his own upbringing and how his father walked out on him when he was 11-years-old. Expecting a little girl with wife Beyonce in February, he admitted that he’s “a little paranoid” about bringing a child into the world.
“I don’t think any person or male goes into a relationship thinking they aren’t going to be there,” he said. “You just never know.”
“If your dad died before you were born, yeah, it hurts, but it’s not like you had a connection with something that was real. Not to say it’s any better, but to have that connection and then have it ripped away was, like, the worst. My dad was such a good dad that when he left, he left a huge scar. He was my superhero.”
Jay reunited with his father back in 2003, but he really didn’t get any of the answers he was looking for.
“[I talked about] what it did to me, what it meant, asked him why. There was no real answer. There was nothing he could say, because there’s no excuse for that. There really isn’t,” he said. “So there was nothing he could say to satisfy me, except to hear me out. And it was up to me to forgive and let it go.”

A source close to Beyonce and hubby, Jay-Z has revealed she was ecstatic when she found out she was going to have a girl, “Beyonce is thrilled she’s having a daughter. She and her mother are so close, and she’s wanted to have that relationship with her own child.”
Beyonce has been keeping busy shopping for baby clothes and has no qualms about first-time motherhood. “It’s going really well, I am so happy with everything right now. I am not nervous because I know it’s happening at the right time,” says the Grammy Award winner. “I felt I got married at the right time, and now we are having the baby at the right time. I feel like we didn’t rush anything, and now we are being blessed with everything naturally.”
