Britney Spears’ teenage sister Jamie Lynn was inspired to name her newborn daughter Maddie Briann after reading a series of the Madeline children’s books, according to reports.

The 17-year-old welcomed her first child with 19-year-old fiance Casey Aldridge into the world on Thursday at Mississippi Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, Mississippi, weighing in at weighed seven pounds, 11 ounces.

And according to the New York Daily News, Spears’ fascination with the Ludwig Bemelman classics were the inspiration for her own daughter’s name.

A source says, “Jamie was a huge fan of the Madeline children’s books when she was a little girl and always wanted to name her daughter that.”

Spears and Aldridge were engaged in March.

The teen star stunned the Spears family when she announced her pregnancy news last year, at the age of 16. They couple reportedly had been delaying their wedding until after the birth of their child.

Maddie Briann entered the world with a full head of hair, her daddy’s toes and the world’s most famous aunt waiting just outside the door.

New mom Jamie Lynn Spears, daddy Casey Aldridge and baby Maddie are catching up on rest following the birth Thursday at a hospital in McComb, Miss., near the Spears family home across the state line in Kentwood, La., a source tells People.

“They’re doing terrific,” the source says. “The baby’s got 10 fingers and 10 toes … and a full head of hair. She’s long, a tall baby, and she weighs 7 lbs, 11 oz.”

When the baby was born at about 9:30 a.m., Jamie Lynn’s sister, Britney Spears, and the rest of the Spears and Aldridge families were just outside the birthing room in the spacious maternity suite.

The relatives then joined the new family in the birthing room and took turns holding Maddie Briann and commenting on her features. When new grandmother Joyce Aldridge held the baby, she remarked that Maddie “has Casey’s toes,” the source says.

Jamie Lynn, 17, and Casey, 19, intend to get married soon, but no date has been announced. Jamie Lynn recently purchased a home in nearby Liberty, Miss., where she and Casey have been living for about three weeks.

Edwin W. Merino, 30, has been accused of constantly pestering pregnant Spears and her fiance, Casey Aldridge in Mississippi.

Merino has been bailed and is due to reappear in court next week.

The parents-to-be, who recently purchased their first home together in Liberty, Mississippi, are preparing for the imminent birth of their child, sources tell People.

“They’re very happy,” says a source. “They’re a fun little couple.”

To get settled in their new home, Spears, 17, and Aldridge, 19, recently had furniture – including an elaborately carved four-poster king-size canopy bed, a leather recliner, and a leather sofa – delivered to the house.

Spears’s mom, Lynne, is helping her daughter decorate the nursery, with the color scheme of pink, brown, and “silver-green,” says an insider.

Spears, who is due to give birth soon, has been keeping a low profile as she readies the new house for her baby. The five-acre Liberty property is already equipped with a barn and studio, which was formerly used as a hair salon.

One new neighbor, who has already offered to babysit, says, “They’re just a sweet little old couple.”

Spears and Aldridge, who got engaged in March, plan to wed after the baby is born.
