Britney Spears’ mom started to chuckle when she first learned her 16-year-old daughter Jamie Lynn was pregnant – because she thought it was a joke.

Lynne Spears has revealed the teenage actress handed her a note and told her to read it alone in the bathroom of the family’s home. It was the first time Spears realised her little girl was having a baby with her boyfriend Casey Aldridge – but she initially refused to believe what she read.

In an interview on Today show on Wednesday, Spears said, “I thought it was a joke… I kept waiting for the punchline.”

But the matriarch quickly realized it was no laughing matter when Aldridge refused to look at her as she came out of the bathroom.

She added, “I was just truly in shock and then I started to cry. And then she (Jamie Lynn) started consoling me at that point.”
The youngest Spears revealed she was pregnant in an interview in December. Lynne Spears details the day she learned all about the pregnancy, as well as other family highs and lows, in her new book Through The Storm.

As Britney Spears gathered with loved ones to celebrate the birthdays of her sons Sean, 3, and Jayden, 2, on September 13, one person was conspicuously absent—her younger sister’s fiancé, Casey Aldridge.

Britney’s younger sister, Jamie Lynn, 17, had traveled from Louisiana with her new baby Maddie for the event, which took place at the Beverly Hills home of Adrienne Maloof-Nassif. “Britney had really been looking forward to Jamie Lynn coming with Maddie, but definitely did not want Casey there,” a friend tells In Touch.

Casey, 19, had cheated on Jamie Lynn while she was pregnant. But the friend says that Britney had problems with Casey long before the revelation. “Britney just does not like him and everyone knows that. She thinks that Casey is using Jamie Lynn for her money.”

Though Jamie Lynn is still trying to make her relationship work, the friend says that she did welcome the break: “It was a good time for her to get away from him and spend time with her family around her.”

Looks like Britney isn’t the only Spears who can make waves with Los Angeles cops.

While a spokesman for the Los Angeles International Airport Police said last week that heads would not roll after uniformed officers ushered a paparazzi-fooling fake Jamie Lynn Spears through the terminal, it now looks like, at the very least, some wrists may get slapped.

“It is not the policy or practice for Airport Police to provide a celebrity decoy,” LAX spokesman Albert Rodriguez tells E! News. “Airport Police has opened an internal investigation of the incident and will take appropriate administrative action if warranted.

“Los Angeles World Airports policy prohibits special courtesies to be provided to celebrities, unless extenuating circumstances such threat of danger to the individual or the safety of the general public are involved.”

Things got started when Spears, her new daughter, Maddie, and mother Lynne were escorted by officers directly off their Delta flight without even entering the airport terminal.

“Jamie Lynn left the airport via the tarmac because of the baby. It would never ever have happened if she didn’t have the baby,” a police source tells E! News.

While the family was safely whisked away, paparazzi in turn focused their attention on another young woman accompanined by several police officers. The police walked the camera-hounded girl out of the terminal, imploring shutterbugs to back both up and off, fueling the photographers’ belief that the escortee was a V.I.P.

“A few of the guys didn’t clear what they were doing with all the supervisors and they may get in trouble,” the source adds.

Last week, LAX Police Sgt. Jim Holcomb told E! News that the paparazzi were to blame for the case of mistaken identity, not the officers.

“We’ve never used the word ‘decoy,’ so I don’t know where that came from,” he said.

Jamie Lynn Spears brought her mother Lynne to tears after reading her new book Through The Storm – because she loved it.

The Spears family matriarch admits her eldest kids Britney and Bryan have yet to read her memoirs, but she’s thrilled her youngest daughter likes what she has read.

She says, “Jamie Lynn loved the book. I started to cry because I told her, ‘I wanted so much for you to like it.’ And she got up and kissed me on the cheek and said, ‘Mama, thank you so much.’”

And Spears admits that writing the book has also helped her mend her relationship with pop superstar Britney: “We are back to four or five phone calls a day.”

As the mother of troubled pop star Britney Spears and teen mother Jamie Lynn Spears, Lynne Spears has had to overcome her share of parenting challenges.

In her new tell-all book about her life as the mother to famous children, Through the Storm, Lynne shares her story of the tough road she’s been down with her family, as well as her hopes for the future.

The Associated Press, which got an early look into the much buzzed about tell-all, to be published Sept. 16, reports today that the book includes stories from Britney’s singing and dancing childhood up through her meteoric rise and all the way to her recent pill-addled, head-shaving escapades.

Lynne details her feelings of powerlessness and a loss of control throughout Britney’s skyrocketing fame, marriages, children and ensuing highly publicized custody battles, as well as her struggle with drugs in her private life, says the AP. Lynne reveals that Sam Lufti, a constant presence in Britney’s life at the time, said he was grinding up pills and adding them to Britney’s food.

The AP also reports that Lynne felt like she had been “punched in the stomach” upon learning Jamie Lynn was pregnant at 16.

After two trips to the hospital this year, Lynne writes that Britney was finally given the care she needed, and that it was a “turning point” for their family.

A turning point, for sure, if Britney’s glowing, fit and levelheaded apperance at MTV’s VMA awards is any indication of the care she’s been receiving with the help of her family.
