James Blunt under fire for posing in picture near Auschwitz, and leaving insensitive comment

It seems like every day I get online these days there’s some story about some celeb angering people, and those people screaming for an apology. Doesn’t it? Every single day someone says something to upset SOMEONE. Which begs the question (I ask every time): Are people getting too sensitive? I can see how James’ comment was simply meant to be funny.

As of when this story was written, over 17,000 fans flooded his Facebook page with complaints.

What do you think? Does it matter what his intentions were? Does he owe an apology?

The “You’re Beautiful” singer enraged fans by posing outside a dilapidated building near former Nazi death camp Auschwitz, and writing on his Facebook page: “Uh, this is my hotel in Poland,” reports The Daily Mail.

Since the photo went up on Saturday, Blunt’s Facebook page has been flooded with more than 17,000 comments and complaints regarding the bizarre remark made during his stay in Oświęcim, where Auschwitz is located.

According to The Daily Mail, the singer was actually staying in five-star accommodations throughout his tour, which included a stop at the Life Festival at Mosir Stadium, just a few miles from the site where hundreds of thousands were killed more than 60 years ago.

Despite the barrage of negative comments from fans the photo remains on Blunt’s Facebook page.

James Blunt: Interest in my private life is unhealthy

James Blunt

James Blunt has dismissed media interest in his private life as irrelevant and “unhealthy”.

The You’re Beautiful star has seen his love life plastered through the tabloids in recent years, with alleged romances with casting director Dixie Chassay, musician Camilla Boler and supermodel Petra Nemcova.

But speaking in the midst of a 14-month world tour, the singer-songwriter said he continues to find media interest in his private life bizarre.

“I’ve never read tabloid magazines, but I think it’s a pretty unhealthy practice,” he told inthenews.co.uk.

“You and I are not dogs sniffing each other, I’m not interested in your private life, nor should I be, and nor should you be in mine.

“We’re hopefully intelligent human beings, who can talk about, discuss and maybe even achieve much greater things than learning about who you’re shagging.

“So, for me, I’ve always stepped away from that and now that I’m in the public eye a bit more, I’ve just tried to ignore it.”

He added: “It’s not important and we’ve got many more important things to deal with. I’m not a celebrity, I’m a musician.

“Whether you like my music or not, music’s part of our art and our culture, which sets us asides from being animals and is much more relevant.”

James Blunt’s new single I Really Want You is out on Monday August 4th.

Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black wins top seller spot

Amy Winehouse

Soul star Amy Winehouse’s multiple Grammy nods have boosted sales of her sophomore album Back To Black, winning her a place in the U.K.’s Top Ten best-selling albums of the 21st century.

The LP has sold more than 2.4 million copies in Winehouse’s native country since its October 2006 release, with over 318,000 of those having been sold in the last 10 weeks.

Back To Black replaces Norah Jones’ Come Away With Me in the countdown, but James Blunt’s Back To Bedlam is still the most popular album in the U.K. – it’s sold in excess of 3.1 million copies to date since hitting store shelves in 2004.

Winehouse scooped five Grammy Awards including prizes for Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year and Song Of The Year at the prestigious 10 February ceremony.

James Blunt shocked fans at a concert in New York on Monday night, by screening bloody footage of the war in Kosovo.

The images flashed up on a giant screen as Blunt sang new track No Bravery, which he wrote while serving as a NATO peacekeeper in the former Yugoslavia – part of his stint as a captain in the British Army.

Blunt told the New York Daily News after the gig at the Beacon Theatre, “The film was my footage, taken from our vehicles while we patrolled. “I recently had the chance to go back and play for the Serbs, and they were all in on my message. It’s great because music is the strongest form of communication, and it was nice to connect with them.”
